Harleys Suck In Traffic?
Harley haters all think we get stuck in traffic and commuting sucks when trying to commute with them. Well, have a look at how I get stuck, or not, in morning traffic with my 2000 Harley Davidson Dyna Wyde Glyde.

Perfect R1150GSA GPS Mounting Position?
Переглядів 713 місяці тому
I appreciate your interest in checking out my attempt at placing the GPS in a perfect position on my 2004 BMW R1150GS Adventure. Everything we add to our bikes is personalized to reflect our identities. In this case, I moved my GPS around in various positions in the cockpit. Eventually, I settled on drilling 2 holes in the mini screen behind the main screen and securing it with RAM mounts and a...
Harley Davidson Useless When Cold?
Переглядів 9154 місяці тому
What is it like to let your 2000 model Harley Davidson sit for a few weeks and then decide on one fine morning to ride her? Well first of all it is carburated and very temperamental when not at operating temperature which necessitates a bit of tumbling with the choke to keep the engine ticking over when cold. This is a POV video to try and show those of you who are thinking of getting a carbura...

Smart heads up display for motorcycles?
It's idiots like this rider that give the rest of us a bad rep. SHARE THE ROAD goes both ways!!!
Do you have the only bike in town?
There is a healthy bunch of weekend warriors here but it seems like most of the daily commute happens on Beemers.
In New Hampshire you would have been done driving. Their State Police don't put up with dopes. Especially dopes on motorcycles. Your bike would have been impounded. $$$$
Every blue moon the cops make some attempt to control the minibus taxis as they are the main problem on our roads. Besides the dopes 😉 Most of the time they only go for the easy targets like moms on a school run. But I hear you. In New Hampshire do not ride like a dope.
Every asshole I know owns one . I can’t ride any other brand I own With out some dick on a Harley Telling me to buy American , You morons !
Harley Davidsons are like that special woman, and if you treat them the right way they'll never let you down.
Absolutely. Very special creatures.
Well, at least I learned how to drive on the wrong side of the road. Glad to see you guys over yonder doing good things Love and Harley Davidson.
I do love riding in the "wrong" side of the road.
Noisy big smelly stupid Harleys ....people that need to be that loud must have some kind of problems ....shut up with those stupid outdated pieces of sh!t .
Man, I like cut thru traffic but I don't cross into oncoming lanes. And be careful jumping off the line cause of people running thru intersection. Becareful on the wet lines, they can be slick.
Very true, we have loads of pedestrians in certain areas crossing between stationary traffic not looking. In general, I will not cross into oncoming traffic when speed picks up but at a crawl, I will push my luck. Thank for the comment.
Everybody has an opinion. Some think it sucks, some love it. The important bit is that we all ride, some on cruisers, some on sports bikes, and some on adventure bikes. The all have a special place and as long as we enjoy riding then keep on riding!
Time to replace the dino from the stone age?
No matter what you ride, big or small, road or not, the joy of two wheels never gets old. Thank you for letting me share this short video with you.
The BMW R1150GSA is a wonderful machine and what it lacks for in factory tech it has character and heritage. Some of us like to bring a bit of tech into these bikes and in this case it is adding a Garmin GPS. I tried various mounting options and finally settled on the location above the speedo cluster and below the screen. It works well for me as I can easily scan from the road to the screen and back to the road without missing much of what is ahead of me. Please let me know what you think of my setup and what else you can suggest on mounting options.
Why do you have the headlight high beams on? (that's what the blue light). I hate the myth that Harleys dont like the cold weather. Like anything else carb'ed, what matters is how it is tuned up. And most guys have no clue, and their bikes aren't tuned correctly at all. I had my Harley professionally dyno tuned by a VERY seasoned mechanic. Since then it has never let me down. I even made a video starting it up at below freezing weather, and the battery had no been charged. Full choke and it will start every time - but I might have to give it some throttle twists depending on how cold it is, or if it has sat for a long while.
Harley Davidsons have an accelerator pump for f sakes. Use it and your bike will start when it’s too cold to ride anyway.
I have the 1994 Dyna Wide Glide. Always starts at first, never had and issue just the spark cables, carburated bikes are the best and make the coolest idle you can listen to
Carburated bikes are tempramental when cold, some more than others and even more so if it stood for a while. My beloved 200 HD Dyna Wide Glyde alse have a couple of tricks up its sleeve but it is a relationship of understanding. However once that twin fires up it is pure music to my ears and I love this bike. I would love to hear your comments on your experiences.
I ride a 2000 Dyna wide glide 38000 miles on it. Looks like new runs like new. I don't start it when it's real cold. I live in northern Minnesota, as long as the battery's charged and I full choke. Let it warm up, it runs great.Runs STRONG. Carburated favorite
I got a 2009 fatboy love your model aswell
Cheers, nice bike
Thanks! 🤜🤛
Just useless.
Some you hate others you love. And some you hate and love at the same time 😂
For people ignorant of H.D. charging systems. Firing it up and letting it idle for a few, actually drains the battery. It must be ridden for at least an hour.
Yes thanks for noting that. Idling only help to warm the engine up to the point where it does not stall. I never rev a cold engine, not even a rental car. Once the engine heats up and all the bits gets to its operating tolerances with the oil starting to do its work the fun can start. My normal commute is about 20mins which keeps a healthy battery fairly stable if used daily however when it stood for a while you have to take a long ride. Unfortunately this garage do not have power and I cannot trickle charge like I do with the beemers
@mototouringafrica my comment wasn't for you specifically mate .
Can you elaborate? Why is the battery geting drained at idle? The engine and alternator are moving.
@@Moto_Adventures_Romania at idle no charging, at 2500 rpm and up, charging.
@@Moto_Adventures_Romania a Harley sitting should always be on a tender, starting and letting it run won't charge the battery.
Why turn it off you just fired it up
The choke returns to the off position once you let it go. You will notice just after taking it out of the garage it stalled as I stopped and the when firing it up again I let it free wheel down the road keeping the choke out thus the wiggling to keep balance rolling very slowly. Once I think it is warm enough I just use the throttle and the clutch to ride "softly" out of the complex not to get the residents up in arms about the sweet morning music from them Screaming Eagle pipes.
@@mototouringafrica , I have the same problem with my HD's choke knob (04 Softail). Supposedly tightening the ring where the knob is, will give the cable tension again ; but that ring is plastic and looks cheap and might break. You're gonna laugh - but I actually use a small 3/4" binder clip (the kind used for holding papers) and clamp that behind the choke knob to keep it from sliding back. It is small enough I can adjust how far the choke is out so it isn't at Full choke the whole time.
Some of us grew up with the Yamaha RZ50 or the DT50. Some were even lucky enough to have a RD125, or a DT125 and boy did we have fun on those! And then the TZR125 and TZR250. Those just changed the game, and sadly the smoke police stopped that fun. But every now and then the opportunity comes along to ride one of these machines and every time you put your riding jacket on the smell of two-stroke still puts the smile of a 16-year-old boy back on your face! Hope you enjoy the video and that it takes you back to an era of unsophisticated raw fun.
I have the same adventure bike. What did you use to mount your gps?
Hi James, I tried a number of mounting options and this is still not perfect however the position is perfect. I fitted a Ram Ball mount to the silver screen with large washers underneath to prevent nuts from pulling through the plastic. Then the Ram arm have a locking nut on to prevent it being removed from the bike with my GPS. The GPS bracket is a Touratech lockable unit and it holds the Garmin XT very securely. I will make a short video and post a link for more detail. I did stick some silicone pads to the top of the Ram arm to prevent it from damaging the screen.
Hi James, finally got around to making a video on the mounting of the GPS. Hope it makes sense. Please have a look and let me know what you think. ua-cam.com/video/VFBSCuu8AGI/v-deo.html&ab_channel=MototouringAfrica
fantastic bike ive had a 97 model for 7 yrs now love it BUT it is heavy and old muscles and bones like mine struggle' im hanging on in their though ; safe riding guys TREV
Hi Trev, thank you and keep the shiny side up. Wish you and your bird another 7 years of safe riding.
no danger in that. that pressure washer doesn't have enough flow and pressure to damage anything.
Switch to a fan jet, nobody should use a 0 degree tip for anything, I don't even know why they sell them. Get a 25 or 40 degree 👍
WHO CARES
haai jinne, wat gat hier aan? Lyk eina virrie bike , ne?
Die bike is tuff, en die ou agter die pyp is rowwer as die wildtuin! :-)

You should not spill the chemicals into the soil. Use purpose built places where chemicals are collected
Very true, unfortunately those places not very accessible to us down here but I will keep that in mind. I did reach out to the supplier to give me info on the products I use as your comment got me thinking. Thanks!
Does literally no harm, it gets diluted that much.
Our local council advised everyone to wash on the grass and not on the concrete
@@Ridingnz46 Correct. You don't want to be flushing 'chemicals' down the stormwater drains because they discharge to streams, rivers, or the ocean untreated.
You attacked the bike with the most aggressive lance available. OMG!
These things are bullet proof... well up to a point. I do try and not hit sensitive bits deliberately. This lance do have a blockage and it looks and sounds much worse than it is however if you put your hand in front of it there is a bit of a sting.
High and low front fenders?😅 take 1 off
The big one? ;-) I lost my rear "mud from wheel scraper" thing that almost resembles a fender.
My 97 mint condition bird is going back to Andorra on Tuesday for a 3 week trip

i own a 2005 model. an excellent bike for long trips on sealed roads.
Hold on to that bike and enjoy it. I still regret selling my bird. Tried to buy it back from the new owner but he is having none of that. Hopefully I can find one at a reasonable price again.
It more powerful than any 125 on the market today
R1150GSA have a ❤ and soul and with less than 20000 produced keep yours and convince the wife two bikes are better than one 😂
Well said and I do agree. R1150GSAs are more than mere tools to get the job done.
I remember a guy getting a brand new one, in this colour. It sparkled pristine, the motor purred at low revs, and it sounded pure and strong at high revs. It's character was the motorised power valve that shifted at startup (as I recall). Wonderful bike.
AI Generated video
AI voice, videos my work. Stills from various sources. I tried doing voice over myself but it was really bad. Bit more practice required. Hopefully soon I will be able to voice overs myself.

Would You reccomend this blackbird as a beginner bike.Inlast rode 14 years ago on a kawa zzr 400.thnx
Hi there, an interesting question that I would provide multiple answers to. Would love to see other peoples thoughts on this as well. If you rode the living daylights out of your ZZR400 and want to do the same then no. If you still want to ride on the edge, no. However if in the last 14 years you "grew up" and are willing to ride well within your limits then yes. The Blackbird has loads of power and an insane top end and gets there without much effort, thus the cliche quote "With great power comes great responsibility" .
Today it will smoke any 125cc. Never mind back in its day. I have feeling it will eat 250cc.
Absolutely, we have a Honda XR 250 Tornado (Dirty brother of the CBX250 Twister) on which I will do a review soon. The XR250 4stroke is a slouch against the old smaller 2smokes. Had a Yamaha DT50 which would have smoked the XR250 up to at least 80km/h if not up to its top end of about 110km/h downhill with a hurricane from behind. So yes the TZR125 is a little screamer once the powerband is reached.
Just a big barge , had a 97 carbed , got a vfr800 fi now , far superior in the real world , faster down the back lanes too
Had a good chucle at the 'barge'. Yes it is not nimble in very tight twisties. Long sweeps is another story. Exiting high speeds sweeps are mind blowing when that rear wheel bites into the tarmac and the bird tries to rip your arms off! Would love to have a go on a VFR. They look like fun. Thanks for your comment.
@@mototouringafricaI’ve had a Vfr 800 Fi for about two years now and thinking about a Blackbird.. when I first got on the Vfr I thought it was a bit heavy but now I can throw it around (ish) The backroads in my part of the world are shit… high hedges, potholes, gravel everywhere and people who have no spatial awareness.. So I tend to rip up a few A roads now instead, with the occasional well kept B road I know.. Still would love a go on a Bird.. the Vfr power wise feels a little tame now
You will love the power of the bird. For crap roads with potholes and other challenges any bike could easily become a handfull. Hope you find one that "talks" to you.
I had one of these in the 90s ,the one with the carbs ,,what a ride ??? like a time machine ,, had 170 mph in 5th gear on my way home from work one night .....
Thanks for sharing. Love to hear from other owners as well.
You naughty boy!
Creepy AI shit!
The music's too loud man. Can't even here the bike's engine 😓
Very true, will see if I have some better-sounding clips. Most of my clips have excessive wind noise which I tried to mask with the music. Thanks for the feedback I will keep it in mind with follow-up videos.
Cheap to buy and run, cam chain tensioners go, the bike runs hot not fun in traffic. cbrxx owners group great resource.
Found the same, needs airflow to keep the engine cool. Fans kick in soon when commuting in slow traffic. An advantage if you are in a country where lane splitting is legal is that the bike without luggage is fairly slim and arent too bogged down.
Was that a computerized voice? Weird! Looks to be a great bike though. The linked brake setup does have its downside on gravelly or unsealed road. But perfect for the highway and long tours
Yes I tried an AI feature which generate both voice and clips but then replaced the clips with my own photos and clips. The voice is much clearer than my own but AI is still bit impersonal. Agree the linked brakes will be terrible on loose stuff. With that amount of power one will need to worry about the throttle as well. Highways are the bird's happy place. Thanks for your comment.
I love my 98 bird
Few bikes have a soul like a bird! Enjoy it my friend!
it's called a flat twin on purpose
Been a boxer fan for years. Air and oil heads do have a special place. Not all love them but when you do it is a life long affair!
I really miss my 'Bird'. Such a beauty, smooth power delivery and gave me a big grin everytime. ❤
Could not agree more. One forms a special bond with your 'Bird' and it is only after you passed it on to the next enthusiast that you realize that it is a very special machine.
