The Road Ahead for Land Banks
Land banks’ flexibility to respond to local challenges and opportunities sets them apart from other entities. Throughout the decades, land banks continued to evolve and respond to meet the changing needs of the communities they serve-more important than ever given present realities of the real estate market and community and economic development challenges.
In 2023, Community Progress conducted the biennial State of Land Banking Survey to understand where the land bank field is now and where it is headed. Our new publication, The Road Ahead for Land Banks: Opportunities for Growth and Greater Equity, highlights key survey findings alongside case studies and context from our extensive experience with land banks across the country.

Thank you for providing this presentation to the public. We are trying to start a similar initiative in York PA and your work is so informative to our approach.
the west or the US? in the US we are very self absorbed, overly pragmatic in terms of profiteering and will put that above any sort of priciple that upholds rights, justice or equality. It is sad to say but that is a theme that becomes more prevelant with every passing day. It makes every progressive movement look like a sham. I watch the way folks respond to something like landlords that pricegouge tenants simply because they have the ability to do so and it gives me the impression that many of these people would gleefully step on or over their neighbor to make a quick buck out of some vague notion of oppourtunistic survivalism. I really hate saying these things about my country but its the behavior that they have exibited and it is shameful.
Excellent presentation
HOW CAN I TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THESE PROPERTIES??
I would really like to start a Land bank in Maryland.

This was amazing thank you so much for your transparency and highlighting the good and the bad. NICE!!!
She conveniently skipped over the Great Recession as a result of predatory banks preying on Black and Brown people that caused illegal foreclosures and home seizures of thousands of homes and created the abandoned properties in the first place. Abandoned properties are stolen by landbanks and resold to speculative real estate investors.
This is fascinating and immensely informative, especially post covid. Thank you for sharing!
