    Never seen a toolchanger on a manual lathe. Can you also put normal tools in or do you have another carriage for that? Hows the rigidity?

      @dsmetaldesignsyt 17 днів тому

      Hi, this is an original turret lathe, but it also has a carriage, and when the carriage is used the live center is in the tool changer - position aligned with center of the spindle.

    they don't know anything about concentricity man. you made a good 4jaw chuck. drill press? if you making just one hole, that's fine. but if you have to do concentric hole with different size? you need 4 jaw chuck.

    • @armorers_wrench
      @armorers_wrench 3 місяці тому

      These guys don't know what a 4 jaw chuck is. I learned how to indicate a 4 jaw chuck when I took intro to machine ops. It wasn't like this one but I don't see why this one wouldn't work--well, obviously it did work. Lol I wish I got to work with lathes more often in a professional context, the only lathe our shop has literally served on an American battleship during WWII so it doesn't get used much.

    • @dsmetaldesignsyt

      Hello, thanks for the comment, yes I did push the rod, its the TIG habit, should have dragged it instead, I think it has enough space for a fan, kinda like the inverters have, its quite heavy welder for its size, about 10 - 12 kg.

    Dude.. you ARE a beginner.. I can see that tap from here is in that hole crooked.. first off.. you used a hand drill to drill the hole.. then you used a drill press to chamfer the holes.. two strikes.. third strike … you should use a body size drill to “spot” the hole nor a chamfer tool.. you’re out.. use the drill press for tapping and it will go on straight.. but of course.. don’t turn on the drill press.. tap it by hand using the chuck key handle in the chuck hole tightening holes.. that’s how a real machinist would do it.. and.. use tapping fluid not oil.. oil will make it tap harder.. also use a gun tap not a starter tap..

    • @dsmetaldesignsyt
      @dsmetaldesignsyt Рік тому

      Hi, this video was made for someone for example who bought his first tapping tools and perhaps might need a few basic tips when using a tapping wrench, it was not intended for pro machinists with all equipment available, the holes were both drilled and chamfered on a drill press ( old German one ), and it was tapping fluid, I wrote it wrong, it is different than oil tho.
