This was a showcase of artists from across the Kootenay region as a whole. :) There were a couple of these showcases in 2 small towns in the region. There are lots of electronic music producers in this region, some known internationally (e.g. Moontricks, Adham Shaikh) others much more locally focused. I curate either live electronic music or live looping showcases every once in a while. The next one will probably happen in the fall at some point, most likely in Nelson, BC.

Oh and in terms of publicizing, that usually happens on local FB groups and community pages. I also have an email list; if you give me your email address I'd be happy to add you to it!

Yeah a short video from me usually means an excerpt ;) I've been trying to do between 10-20 min videos as I feel like that's a format that works well for UA-cam. But sometimes it'll be an hour :P

@@ReconsiderateI was gonna say if you lived anywhere near here that we're doing one more show like this in 2 weekends in Crawford Bay, BC, but... since that's near Kaslo, I'm assuming that you won't be able to make that either! :P What's the city you're closest to? Most cities around the world have some kind of underground live electronic music scene.

Thank you!! Yes, it is a magical machine. I'm slowly exploring what I can do with the Osmose + Mood as a foundation for an experimental ambient performance. I just uploaded a video adding a Moog Matriarch for subbass and a mic + microcosm for vocal splashes. I think I'm gonna explore with this combination for a little while longer and see what emerges. :)

@@thisissami I'm currently trying to figure out how to use the MPE gestures with software VST's like the UVI solo instruments 2. The possibilities as a controller make it actually possible to be expressive with other instruments as well - it is awesome. Just difficult to find the correct settings for all of the different VST's. Hydrasynth is an easy one with a lot of options already.

@@phantomsabre yeah MPE with software can be tricky. I used to have a controllerism-centric improv/looping show years ago and I messed around with MPE a bit back then. In my opinion, the key is to just use software that already has built in MPE functionality (e.g. the FXpansion synths - my show was designed around Strobe2, though I imagine that Cypher2 would be really fun to play with). FXpansion has since been bought by Roli, so I imagine that the possibilities with MPE have increased significantly since then. Also, Roli's Equator2 is a pretty phenomenal MPE synth that I think is really fantastic. One other thing worth considering is Bitwig. That DAW has built in MPE capabilities if I'm remembering correctly that make it easy to map gestures to whatever you want within your VST. Personally, I had a loooot of issues with Bitwig (many many many bugs) and the team behind it was quite horrible to me in my interactions with their support team (blaming me for things, telling my my suggestions were stupid and then building what I suggested anyway, etc.), but I've heard that they've turned things around and it's a stable and reliable solution nowadays.

I recorded the electric piano a little too hot throughout all 3 of our recordings last night though. :( (was supposed to be without distortions) This was our very first time jamming together, and we've both agreed to explore this a lot more.
