One of my teachers had this pop up book and I loved looking at it and listening to the music in this part of the book. It was probably then that I became a bit obsessed with Phantom of the Opera. lol

@Sara4Fergie Jenna joined the cast around December of 2007 and Lea (and Jon) left on May 18th, 2008.

@Sara4Fergie If I remember correctly, Lea was originally announced to participate (in think instead of Lauren?) but obviously it didn't work out that way (or maybe the announcement was wrong to begin with). I have no idea why. I wouldn't read too much into it, though. There are 6 parts and 8 girls in the cast so two girls would be likely to sit it out (the other missing girl is Alexandra Socha, I believe), and not every cast member participates in every event outside the show, so :)

@blahdida13 i was kind of thinking through the whole musical and how funny it would be, then I got to the hayloft scene, and I was like... wow, awkward

@crispy433 I saw the Amy Winehouse number too and I thought she looked incredible -- I was too far away from the mainstage to really see that impersonator but I don't doubt that you're right!

They did this at an event called Broadway Backwards where various Broadway stars perform songs usually performed by the opposite gender to support a/the GLBT center in NY. They were the only ones from Spring Awakening who performed, so no, the boys didn't do anything -- I figure MWBM wouldn't really work as the idea is more to switch the genders to give a gay/lesbian spin on traditionally hetero theater songs.

To answer your question 4 months later, she (switching off with a man) was signing for the opening acts for Indigo Girls (and assumedly the main act as well -- it was CRAZY storming - you can already see a little of the overcast sky - right after this and we left). This was... for drag king group, I think?

We most certainly are still putting on shows and we're always looking for new people to audition on a show-by-show basis (and we've had people who don't regularly use Gaia before so that's no big deal if you can learn quickly). We haven't announced any future show plans at this moment, but we will definitely do a show in Nov if not sneak one in at the end of October. Info will be posted at our thread/LJ/Twitter (spheretheatre) when we announce it :)
