Always finding new ideas for this great song; this time, mixing some Drop-3 chords and single lines with melodic minor superimpositions.

Marhonic Hajor Tune
Переглядів 247 годин тому
"Marhonic Hajor Tune" is something I came up with after watching a new Mikesmasterclasses video by Juampy Juarez on the Harmonic Major scale. It was very informative and intriguing, as I must admit not having spent enough time on it. I made a little thump-thump on my looper and had some fun with the modes. I hope you enjoy it; check out his class too.
Emily R.

"Emily R." I was listening to some Emily Remler videos this morning; she had it ALL. Bebop, swing, Latin, all. She also was great at composing from riffs with a 'call-and-response' type of funky jazz. So she inspired me to come up with this little riff. I will revisit this one after a while for sure.

Over My Head

Yeah, this is "Over My Head". What else would I call it when I find an intriguing backing track by Phillip Dean Iggar with the ethereal changes to "Secrets", by Alan Holdsworth? I don't naturally fall into the Holdsworth style or have his kind of chops, but hey, I don' want no fuzzy bathrobe and bunny slippers!!!! I'd rather dress in barbed wire and steel wool!!! I'm never gonna be set in my wa...

"Out Of Nowhere", with a very laid-back bassline backing from the incomparable Mr.Sunnybass. I'm having a very laid-back day, so this was just right for a laid-back video. I hope you enjoy it.
Blues For No Particular Reason

"Blues For No Particular Reason", is an improvised, odd-length blues (I actually thought about it for a couple minutes...) based on a motif I thought of after a class with Peter Mazza last night.
Johnny Come Lately

"Johnny Come Lately", a great song by Billy Strayhorn that should be played a lot more often. Thanks to Mr. Sunnybass for the fine backing track. I was gonna make a joke about lately is better than prematurely, but my mother might read this; she's only been dead 4 years, and I think her account is still active. Sorry, Maw.

Mr. 2000
Yup.
As a child loving Gale on Flack’s Killing me softly and Dupree Rainy Night in Georgia. I was liking their musicianship and had no idea who they were!
I saw some amazing musicians that day, most of whom I weren’t aware of as I was a budding jazz fan at the time. The one particular guitarist of which I later found out was the great Cornell Dupree! The group was the Gadd Gang led by drummer Steve Gadd. That group was formerly known as Stuff and had a second guitarist, the legendary Eric Gale. Unfortunately Gale was not performing with them when I saw them.
Oh yeah!!!! Dupree was a fine all-around guitarist, funk, blues, pop, jazz. He did a lot of notable studio work too. Great memories from that one for sure.
Great Davis composition. I was fortunate to see his band as the headliner of what was known as the Live Under the Sky festival, an annual tribute to the great John Coltrane! I saw the 10th at Fukuoka Japan summer of 1987!
WOW!!!!! What a great experience that must have been!!!! I'm glad you got to be there.
I was blown away!
A young 22 y/o Darryl Jones was playing a fretless electric bass!
