In Your Own Sweet Way

"In Your Own Sweet Way", by Dave Brubeck. The idea for the intro and interlude came to me this morning while I was peeling a tangerine. It was a kinda thick skin, so I had time to think about it.

"Monk's Dream". The master, Thelonious Sphere Monk. I wish I could just spend all the time I have on his works.

Some cool lines that Steve Herberman gave us today to work on for our online class. You gotta join up, this class is.....whoa, superduper.

Blues For Aunt Suzie, Such A Floozie, Getting Boozy

"Blues For Aunt Suzie, Such A Floozie, Getting Boozy". Blues with a long, swinging backing track from Quist. I don't know who Aunt Suzie is; I'm just a silly old fool.
I Love You (version 2)
Переглядів 334 години тому
"I Love You (version 2)". Yesterday, actually, early this morning, I posted a version of this great Cole Porter song with a brisk backing track. I wanted to do it with a very different feel, so I hope you enjoy this little effort.
Insomniac Blues

"Insomniac Blues" Since it's Saturday night, and I KNOW that right after Bible study, you're all going out and get blind drunk on good 'ole Kentucky bourbon and tacos and then have trouble sleeping soundly, just listen to this ELEVEN MINUTE blues jaunt and that should do the trick. No, seriously, this was a lot of fun and there might just be a couple pretty decent choruses here. I do hope you e...

"Peace", by Horace Silver. I haven't played this since......the last time I played it, I guess. Lovely composition, just plain lovely.
Fantastic Stuff I Just Made Up

"Fantastic Stuff I Just Made Up". OK, OK, OK, I'M KIDDING!!!!!!! I've never been a shameless self-promoter, but that was a joke I couldn't pass up. Still noodling around with my slide and some sound effects.
Slidey Glidey Blues
Переглядів 8914 годин тому
"Slidey Glidey Blues" I got to staring at my old Squier Stratocaster and thought it was time for some "Open E", so with a super fine backing track from Simon Peter King (you should check him out even with his royal sounding name, he's way cool), I put on the slide and worked up an appetite for lunch.
Tenderly
Переглядів 9116 годин тому
"Tenderly", by Walter Gross and Jack Lawrence. I owe this idea to the incomparably talented and very handsome Francois Leduc, who, about an hour ago, posted a video of Jack Wilkins playing "The Christmas Song", accompanying himself in a double-track performance. I have been working on a solo arrangement of "Tenderly" for my classes with Steve Herberman, and I decided to take the Wilkins route i...

Teles are great for jazz. I love your playing. Nice phrasing.
Thank you!!!! The feeling is mutual, Sir.
Nice! You should have played with chick corea.
Aw shucks!! You just made a black man blush!!!!!! Thanks! 😜😜
Really enjoyed that, thanks for sharing
Thank YOU!!!!
I'm grooving with you my music friend!
That is WAY cool!!!
My man!
MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY NEW YEAR A FEW TIMES OVER!!!!!!!! Thank you.
Hello James.
What kind of guitar is this ? An acoustic Gibson. I want one,,,,,,😊
No, its a DeAngelico New Yorker that I got 23 years ago. It is amplified, I just keep the volume down fairly low. I run it through an Acoustic Image Clarus head and a Raezers Edge speaker cabinet.
@JamesSeaberry thanks for the info. I need a left handed one,,,,,,,
Word, very, very nice performance, sir 👏🏿
Thank you VERY much!!
Love you too good sir.
Aw shucks, thank you!!!!
i love you too
Thank you!!! Ain't life grand??
It's very relaxing, that's how you know it's good
Thank you very much!!!
Your way of playing is very original and this video format, at home without much editing... makes for a better connection with the audience, I like it.
Thank you very much!!! Yes, I am retired and I practice most of the day; I get an idea and just record things. I don't know much about how to make things look professionally done, I just give them to you!!!
3:55❤ very very nice without any liquor in me. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha!!! Me either.
well that is pretty fantastic!
Hahaha!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!
That was incredibly satisfying. Well done.
THANK YOU!!!!
beautiful guitar and amazing skills, keep it up!!
Thank you!!! I just work very, very hard.
1:10 - 1:15 sounds like a great intro to a song.
oooh, good idea!! Thank you!!
Love this one! Have you checked out Steve Khan's acoustic guitar version?
No, thank you, I will!!
It’s on the Evidence album 👍
@@Jazzwithbite Cool!!! I will look in the AM; (its my bedtime now....I'm old)
Good job🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you Sir!!!
Always bringing a sound that calms, without losing the essence of the combination of blues, Rock and jazz, I liked it
Thank you!!!
Now I feel I’m in a setting of blended Mississippi delta, Chicago south side, and Greenwich Village!
Wow!!!! How perceptive you are!!!! My father was from the Mississippi delta, I was born and raised on the WEST side of Chicago, and I went to law school in Greenwich Village!!!! You're reading my DNA!!!!!! hahahahaha!!!
@@JamesSeaberry wow, didn't know you did law. was that your profession until retirement? great heritage and a tease of what interesting character you have EDIT: i did some sleuthing on linkedin, and I discovered you were a litigation attorney for 35 years! that's admirable. so cool that you have this guitar side of you, too
@@antonparas4782 hahahaha!!!! Yes, I was a ferocious little dude in the courtroom, but a gentle soul outside of it. I've played the guitar for now 54 years, and it keeps me sane!
@@JamesSeaberryJames, I know it’s not from the vein you usually present here, but how about Seals and Croft Summer Breeze?!?!
@@Joseph-nk8se Maybe tomorrow? I'm kinda done for today; out of gas. Thank you for the suggestion.
so cool and funky! from jazz to metal to slide, guitar is such a versatile instrument. cool to see you working with slide, the vibrato is so, so expressive :)
Oh yeah, thank you!!!!
James you made it to 1,000 subscribers. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Oh wow!! Thanks for pointing that out; I hadn't noticed!!
Beautiful. I can hear Clooney singing this song. Not the actor but his aunt who was an actor and singer. Very nice James
Of course; Rosemary, Kentucky Royalty. Thank you!!
Cookin in the kitchen 🔥🔥
I'm tryin, Boss!!! Thank you!!
Short in stature perhaps but long on extensions - excellent !
That I am.
This is the very first "jazz" song that I ever heard late at night on DJ Felix Grants' AM radio show when I was driving home after a gig with my Top 40 band when I was 16. I love your performance, brings back a great memory!
That is WAY cool!!!!
I LITERALLY RECORDED AND POSTED A VERSION OF THIS LAST NIGHT (my first guitar post), what a coincidence! (I did it bc of your encouragement, thank you 🙏) This is my favorite jazz standard, glad to hear your version of it!
WOW!!!!! Thank YOU!!!! I'm glad to be able to help. I'm going to check out your now.
Lovely tribute to your wife! I enjoyed listening!

?
That doesn't really tell me anything.
@JamesSeaberry so now you feel exactly like me watching this video + reading the description 😉
@@christopherherrmann921 If you have a question, please ask it; perhaps I can answer it. You never know!
Amazing video! 🎶🔥 The way you brought each note and harmony... the emotion in each note is inspiring, elevating the simple melodies to another level. 🎸✨ It's an honor to start following your musical journey! By the way, I just released a new video that follows the vibe of intense and sentimental blues. 🥃🎶 When you have some time, I'd love to know what you think of my content! 🎙 🎵💙I would be delighted to know your opinion about my content, I have several blues... I think you'll like some of them.
Thank you Sir!!! Thank you very much. I will go there in a minute to check out your music.
Remember when you were young
Yes, that would have been the 1950's and 60's for me.

Yes, thank you! I work very hard and enjoy it. Tak, dziękuję! Pracuję bardzo ciężko i sprawia mi to przyjemność.
Simply wonderful! I’m at work but it feels like I’m in a late night jazz club…
Thank you!!! See??? Work can be alright!!!
I’m trying to learn the guitar now. So many players are exciting to me, but your style in which you effortlessly change between melodic lines and chords resonates with me strongly. At present the language of theory is bewildering! You appear to be looking at written music while you are playing?
@@Joseph-nk8se I try to memorize as much music as I can, but sometimes, I read the music. On this one, yes, I was reading the chord symbols and improvising over the top of them. Thank you very much!!!!
What a gorgeous song, and you did it justice!
Thank you!!! 😃😃
Your playing is so coollll. Are there any tips you can give for learning scales? I’ve always wanna do improvisations like what you’re doing!
Thank you very much!!! My best advice is to find a good teacher who can show you on Zoom or in person. I was self-taught for many years and could have learned faster and better if I had taken lessons long ago.
Excellent cover! I really like hearing jazz on a telecaster, for some reason, it really fits well.
Thank you very much!!!! Yes, I have no hesitation about cutting loose on this little Squier.
I can see Mr. Garner Smiling from up above!
Thank you Joseph!!! You were the inspiration.
splonky.
I like that!!!
A favorite of mine! I've tried many times to learn it, but so far have failed. You have mastered this beautiful song!
Thank you!!! I'd love to hear yours no matter how you think of it.
