The game has such an identity crisis. It can’t decide if it wants to be an over the top action movie, a cheesy sitcom about friendship, a neo-western, a poor imitation of Watch_Dogs 2 or some sci fi action story. On the plus side, the customization (for characters, vehicles, and weapons) is pretty good and some of the combat is fun. Takedown animations are cool. The world is pretty cool to explore and vehicle customization is the best in the series. Other than that it’s a straight up mess. I don’t play these games to see a shitty story about friendship, I play to be a criminal supervillain taking over a city and causing some wacky destruction in my free-time. Saints Row 2 had that perfect balance of action, drama, and comedy. The characters in this story are mostly insufferable. I liked Jim Rob and The Boss was okay. Neenah and Eli were ehhh and Kevin was outright insufferable. Nahuali was cool until they completely threw his character off the rails. Also the melee combat was so unbelievably terrible. Deep Silver did Volition so dirty. 17:48 also love your use of Tekken Tag Tournament music here

I just 100%’d this game for the 3rd time. First time was by myself on the xbox 360 when i was a kid, second time on the wii u with my siblings, and just recently on my xbox series s. Easily my favourite 2D platformer ever

Plok’s hand kinda looks like my dads hand, he was born in 1981, so if thats the case… HE WAS 12 DURING THE EVENTS OF THE GAME

I remember when the teasers were out and they were showing off that LARPing would be involved. First I thought it was going to be the most cringe and annoying part of the game. But I got to it, and while it was a bit cringe, it at least embraced the fact rather then seem ignorant to it like the rest. And it honestly felt far more on the level for these Nu Saints then them being gangsters, especially ones running a criminal empire. I was a bit sad when the story line concluded and I had to go back as LARPing as a gangster rather then a post apocalypse wastelander. Even the Factions in the LARP section were more fleshed out then the gangs.

30:20 "Place them where you want" Yeah, and then unintentionally make things harder on yourself. Like for example the Waste truck mission (which is already tedious as hell). You can place it anywhere you like, you may wanna be thematic and place it out in the desert. And THEN you realize more then half the trucks you need to collect on on the opposite side of the map, and you're now having to drive farther then you would have if you had just shoved the radioactive dump dead center of the map. Then of course you realize the Trucks have a chance to spawn randomly so you just sit outside the place and spawn camp them instead. That's also the case for the Towing missions but at least that's less tedious when you realize you can build a Super Tow Truck and finish them pretty quickly. There's really a lot of these "ok ideas, dumpster execution" that just makes up the entire game. Like "Hey, we got little stores you can buy some goofier items" "Cool, so they're an actual store right?" "No, they're the equivalent of a farmers market stall".
