LYRA-8 Voice 5 Troubleshooting
This video demonstrates a problem with voice 5. Note that bridging the pads does not produce a tone on voice 5, but turning the Tune dial while sounding the adjacent voice 6 does have an effect. This seems to indicate the the Tune pot is not the problem.

Gantry Twist Part 2
Переглядів 5253 роки тому
In this second part, I demonstrate how the sheet metal frame might be the cause of the twist in the gantry, and how you can shim up the gap to prevent twisting when re-installing the gantry into the case. I filmed both parts on my phone and both times I ran up to the 10 minute limit, hence the abrupt endings. Hope it helps!

Best Method to Discharge LiPo Batteries Part 1
Great video. this helped me align my machine! thanks
Excellent video but iundortunatrely is too dark with no possibility of folowing the suggestions and also out of focus.
❤what about new cell Li Po?
Just wanted to thank you for taking the time to walk us through this. I was having all kinds of issues with my K40. I went through your alignment process step by step and it's working great now.
Trying this on my Mac and it works until the last few bits of any design, then the knife stays down and it feeds continually 🤷♀
Did you ever find a source on replacement batteries or cells?
I just did this following this guide. Since the original chip editor, the ASVRISP Mark II, is no longer made, I picked up a AVRISP XPII compatible device for around $40. I think mine was made by waveshare. The cable used between the old Cricut and the computer is a “USB-A to USB-B” cable. My chip editor came with a cable that would work (like his did in the video), but it is very short. I am using a ten foot cable. The software that replaces Atmel Studio 7 is now called “Microchip Studio for AVR” by Microchip Technology, and can be found by a simple search. (I found it by searching for “atmel studio 7 download”, and the new software was the top link. I did have an issue in that the screens. The bottom box labeled “Output” was blocking the “properties” box, and I had to click the little down arrow on the left side of that box (On the lower box called “Output”, there is a yellow bar. On the right of that bar, there is a triangle pointing down, a thumbtack and an X. Click the upside down triangle, click “float” and then when the box moves, click the same triangle again, then click “Dock” that should show the hidden box “Properties” and then it will look the same. The rest of the tutorial is visually the same, and pretty well done. There for a bit, he goes back and forth between “build” and “clean”, but he does it right the first time, and you don’t need to worry about following too close there until he moves on to “Tools”
I can not down the ist program is there an alternitive
Absolutely amazing tutorial tyvm
There are screws underneath the second mirror mount. You don't have to move whole thing..
Hey there. Is this possible to do with the Circut explore 3
10mm wrench. Just sayin'. My gantry holes were too small to get any king of movement. I need to take it back out and use a step bit to enlarge them just a little. Put flat washers on your 3rd mirror mount. I use Lightburn. Damn, you had to bring up "not pro gun".
Excellent. Its great UNEDITED to show trials and tribulations of an experienced K40 owner doing mirror alignment. Thanks you for the details you shared. I have watched your short version, and this is better as it really details all the steps needed in an everyday K40.....
Excellent video. Totally makes sense. No wonder this is a daunting task for others. Being parrel to the Y or X is just as important as hitting the mirror correctly. Off to try it. Thanks
this is by far the 100% most true tutorial how to align your mirrors and laser beam... most people think like myself... the mirrors dont align properly... and i go back and forth and the distance never cuts short... why? cause i aim for the miror and i dont aim for the parallel laser line like u said... i tough im insane or stupid or smth... but i was skipping the most crucial step ever... now it all makes sense... tomorrow... i got 2 machines to align... a k40 which crazy enough i bought it 2nd hand from a guy... and was "aligned" was working to say the least... untill i burnt the tube cause i guess im stoopid or tube was old and guy lied to me saying he only used it "for some tests runs" but tube was patched with glues and kits to dont fall apart... bought a new tube... aligned the laser beam of tube to the center of mirror 1... thats good so far... but i was totally getting frustrated with 2nd mirror... couldnt understand why its not straight i was having center beam in middle of 2nd mirror upclose but 2 inches apart 20cm away at maximum travel bed... so frustrating ... its like my brain died ... thanks bro... now it all links toghether... wish your video had more visibility .... this completes the rest of "mirror alignments" which forget to say to make the beam "square" all around the machine... cause the machine is crooked as hell...2nd machine is a 6040 "beafed up k40" 80W machine oh just in time ...
I need an adult
I'm trying to aligned it without savety goggles, turning off, adjust, turn on, but the auto homing is getting in the way ... if it's@not possible to align without goggles somebody should mention it. because I believe you can use it without them (if careful)
Please be safe
Excellent video, i saw both the short and longer videos and i was able to align my mirrors within 30 minutes. I fumbled thru several hours before i saw your video. Thank you
مرحبا ❤️🌹
One thing I've found to help with the rotational adjustment of the laser head / mirror 3 was putting a long, straight rod over the entry hole to the laser head and pushing it against the head. That give a reasonable approximation as to whether the mirror is perpendicular to the Y axis.
why not 3D print an adaptor to fit the cartridge port and not take it apart
That was all I needed. My mirrors are working better than ever. Thank you
Super helpful! Thanks so much!
Hey there ! I am having issues with the key "USB" , every time I plug it into my pc it states USB malfunctioned, therefore I haven't been able to use it. I have been looking around for information but honestly I can't find a resolution to this issue. The USB is marked it says lihuiyu studio labs - 2019.08.15 .If you are familiar with this issue what would you recommend me to do?. nice videos I have the exact same laser engraver but the brand is preenex. I'll appreciate it if your can help me out with this one !, Thank you!.
The information sounds legit but your video is unwatchable, buy a camera that can actually focus please...

Great explanations. I just got my K40 about a 1 1/2 weeks ago and the laser was out of alignment from the get go. I have watched many alignment videos and none of them mentioned moving the mirror mount in order to get the beam centered on the mirror.
Will this circumvent the blacklisted serial cricuts that are deemed scrap by them and wont fix?
You need to move the camera... its so hard to follow with it still... WAY better jerky around more..
I can’t find you on fb not sure how else to get in contact with you
look for John Cabrer
I am stuck please help me!
I have not seen anymore K40 videos, from you, in a couple of years. What happened? Did your K40 crap out, or did you loose interest in the K40 and Laser Cutting / Engraving and just give up?
you sir earned this subscription . i had to remove the entire train and my laser was spot on till i moved the gantry to the next corner. the dot on mirror 2 was 1-2 mm higher. this is the only video that convinced me it wasnt the train but instead that it was a delicate game of splitting the difference. thank you !
When I attempted to program the device, the device signature doesn't appear and I get an error code when I click "read" " Failed to enter programming mode. ispEnterProgMode:Error status received: Got 0xc0, excepted 0x00 (Command has failed to execute on this tool) Unable to enter programming mode. Verify device selection, interface settings, target power, security bit and connections to the target device." I'm not certain what/how to verify as I'm just following along and don't understand tech speak. The tool is recognized (AVRISP MKII) I used ATmega1281 as the device and ISP is the only option for interface - but it won't read the signature. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Boo-Hoo! I know it's been years since this was originally posted, but if there is any help out there - I would super appreciate it. Thanks so much.
Was using the other method for aligning the mirrors. Watched this and had the alignment sorted out in 30 minutes. Thank you for saving my sanity.
Friends, I am going to try this on a cricut create crv20001 fingers crossed. The processor is the same and most buttons are similar… Thank you
Any update on this?
This was so helpful to me when aligning my K40 expansion for the first time. So many thanks John!
Can I please ask you something...I've been pulling my hair out all day trying to get my mirros alligned. I have my mirror #1 shooting a parallel beam (I assume)...When I move the laser head in the farthest position, the laser hits Mirror #2 dead center...but when I move the head back to the closest position for the 2nd burn...the hole moves down about 1/4" directly below the first burn. My question is, wouldn't any adjustment you make to mirror #1 affect both burns? I feel like it is shooting parallel to the rail but that it isn't horizontal???smh I'm not a mechanical engineer but I feel I have a lot of common sense and this mirror allignment has got me topsy turby. I almost feel like the rails need to be shimmed/raised a little bit on one end? (the end closest to laster tube? Any advice would be appreciated.
I suspect that you missed a critical point of my video about needing to ignore where on the mirror the beam hits. Ignore the mirror completely. Once your beam is aligned to the rail, you can move the mirror to catch the beam Since you make no mention of mirror 3, there is a bit of ambiguity in your description as to what is going on where. Lots of ppl I help forget that there are 3 mirrors and refer to #2 as #1. I'm happy to help if you want to jump on a call. YT does not seem to have a DM feature, so reach out via Facebook Messenger if you have that. John Cabrer is the name.

Thank you buddy 🤙🏻 Greetings from Sicily
new tube installed and was having a hard time adjusting. Once I found this took minutes to complete. Thank you! square it up first and adjust from there.
Well said sir, this is the best easiest way to align your mirrors, it simply makes sense. thank you John
I was thinking why doesn't he use a magnet for catching the screws... then giggled when you did. Thank you so much for this video! I'm going to work on this tomorrow 😁

Great video, thank you! May I ask what the four colored buttons (red, yellow, green, blue) in the front right corner of the bed are for?
EXCELLENT video. Thanks for posting!
I could really use your help I’ve tried everything in this video and they are not even close
Reach out on FB Messenger and we can do some remote troubleshooting.
I have been messing around with the firmware in MC/AT studio for a bit. I'm quite certain there is something wrong with the clock speed after flashing. The display is PAINFULLY slow in refreshing. the author abandoned the project a while ago after commenting out the display refreshes which is why you can't see the speed and pressure change. I am unable to as of yet isolate the problem with the selector wheels or the display. QUESTION: Do the fuse bits change on reloading the HEX? Is it possible the xtal is selected from the software after the fact? thanks
My machine arrived with the mirrors very out of alignment. If I put a bit of wood under the laser, it won't even fire to leave a mark on it. When I put paper over the first and second mirrors, it does burn a hole, but it's not going to the final mirror on the laser head. I'm at a complete loss. This helped, but I'm still not getting it. What do I do to go back to square 1 and try to get them all aligned
Is it possible to flash a cricut maker 3 ? I hope somebody can help me 😢
