I have the puramax and haven't had the issue with the deoderizer spraying while my cats are inside. The spray goes off after the cat has exited the litter box.

We have a cat who like to pee on the mat. We replaced the mat with a tray that has a cover made like a grid so the pee collects at the bottom. We have had the machine for 3 years and we got a second one for another room.
