Been here for 3 windows and haven't seen a single Shadeshifter yet.. I kind of like fishing but the last few have wasted so much time it's hard to keep at it. I know, it would be less fun if you could simply catch them all and be done with it. (I also realize / know that this fish is nothing compared to others that take exponentially longer just to get a bight)

i love this BGM but the occasional high pitch noises in the distant background sound exactly like my dog is somewhere sort of nearby making tiny little whiny noises like she needs to go outside and it trips me out lmfao

OK, I know I was really stupid here, but would it be possible to tweak the wording a little on one part? ^^;; "Stethacanthus is a standard mooch fish off of Rock Saltfish. Catch them like before - only hook !! bites. If 16s passes, use Hook to reel in and cast back out." If you read past this it becomes more obvious you're talking about reeling in after 16s for Rock Saltfish, but I tend to skim read and focus on specific things, and I thought the 16s applied to Stethacanthus - so I've wasted several int windows pulling up at 16s instead of waiting for a !!! to bite, thinking it was a short cast! Again, my mistake, but a simple tweak like "If 16s passes and you don't hook a Rock Saltfish" would help people from making the same mistake as me, especially if they have the same reading style :D Thank you for all your guides, you are a lifesaver! Hopefully I'll catch this one soon!

Wtf is wrong with this dumb game. Even with swimbait, the mooched squids keep giving me !! or !. I have attended so many normal windows/fish eyes and have only a handful of Henodus to my name. It seems that they have made ALL big fish much harder to obtain with the addition of these new DT abilities; either that or clearly fishing is not for me seeing as how unlucky I am at this. And before you ask- yes I have the Tome, using the correct bait and within window; stop assuming we don't know how to read.

I just started this myself, since it's always up. It's by far not the most efficiënt/fastest way to get as many scrips as possible, but someone on Reddit was saying they pull like 40+ Zorgor Condors /hour with the endgame set (pre 7.1) and the 7.0 fisher skills. I get nowhere near 40/hour. Unless I am doing something wrong, but watching the video, it seems like I am doing it right. I reel in any !! bite 23 seconds or later, but seems like it still overlaps with the scorpion, so you'll very frequently also get that one. Maybe I should try it with Dragonfly bait instead of a cactuar Jig?

How would Modest Lure figure into this catch? I know if you get the feeling prompt that removes all strong bites, but I am not fully sure if using it keeps the timer going so you can sort of cheese it like that or if it pauses a moment.

30 windows in and the second Mora doesn't want to bite. I'd even prep by getting a Mora on the previous window or using fish eyes, but it refuses to bite on the 6 min window before lancet and if it does it always escapes. Who ever thought this was a good idea is mental. edit: also using Alure to avoid the single ! and that doesn't seem to help.

Maybe it's worth considering remaking the video? You can now logout in the zone without losing intuition and we now have the fisher's instinct (which adimteadly i myself still don't understand how it works).

I use Fish Eyes when the weather condition is fulfilled, but so after so many windows still not a single bait. Y_Y

Knowing the biome is confusing for me now. Some are not clear. Usually Ocean vs. Freshwater for large lake areas.

Aaopak is at this hole and also an Ancient Shrimp mooch. Cinder Surprise is the only fish that has taken me more casts than that dumb not even big fish. All this should work on that thing too

20 windows in, even using Mlure to consistently get the ancient shrimp to mooch, and this thing won't bite. I'm starting to believe that it doesn't exist anymore or that something happened that glitched it, similar to the fishing in east thanalan.

I've been trying this method when this vid went live and I've got to say it's a pretty cast cycle for fishing. The last window I went to, caught Sound of Fury 5 seconds after Modest Lure after waiting about 10-11 seconds from initial cast before using lure. I trust this method for catch but damn it actually needs to be 7-8 seconds after initial cast to use modest lure.

1:14:37 did you mean to say you slap a 'powerful hookset fish' instead of a precision fish, assuming you want to guarantee all further powerful hookset in the pool is the fish you want? If not then please explain.

oh the rod is LITERALLY called an uglystik, not just you insulting the fishing rod😅 this makes me want to go buy a rod and spend some time enjoying nature!! at my job i often help kids with their fishing catches (summer camp), but i dont get to actually fish myself!! honestly if you ever did irl fishing advice videos id watch the hell out of that😊

Identical Cast works with the Cloudsails. Took a little bit of patience, but I got 6 Cloudsails per Hellsnow Shark slap. Ended up a little higher due to the occasional Cloudsail catch instead of Hellsnow.

Wow, I just arrived to the window, cast out and began to read your instructions. First bite was the !!! and I got it - couldnt even finish reading the guide 🤣!

This is so frustrating. Haven't had one single bite for 10 windows!

As of writing this, I just caught a Phallaina, and the 3 EBE-9318s, all during the Phallaina window an hour before the Sidereal Whale window. In this scenario, I am considering prepping 3 Horizon Events, and attempting to catch my 1st Unbegotten, about 15 minutes before at a slightly different location at Limne 3-B. I'm pretty sure I've caught an Unbegotten with Stardust before, no mooch, and catching one early would put my preparations to a halt. By chance, does anyone know if an Unbegotten can be caught with the Versatile Lure? I'd just rather eliminate the possibility of stopping prep early if possible. I'll likely give it a go with the Versatile Lure when I prep the Swimbait, and once I hopefully get 3 Horizon Events, I'll switch to Stardust and start working on my 1st Unbegotten, and start going for the 2nd Unbegotten around E.T. 11:40PM. E: JUST CAUGHT IT!!!!!! OMG! I did end up using the Versatile Lure until about 3 minutes before the window popped, but I ended up waiting until 1.5 Eorzean hours into the Phallaina/SW window to get my 2nd Unbegotten. I caught another Phallaina when it was still possible, and I ended up getting the intuition refresh on a 5th Unbegotten around 4.5 Eorzean hours into the SW window. I caught the Sidereal Whale on what I felt would be my 2nd to last mooch attempt. I think it was the 3rd time I got it to bite, so glad to finally have this fish/whale.
