The only F1 race I’ve ever seen in person was the 1986 German Grand Prix in Hockenheim, 2 week after this Brands Hatch race. I’ve been an avid fan ever since. Unbelievably impressive cars back then.

Thanks for bringing the memories back - I was at Brands that day, in a grandstand on the outside of Clearways, willing Senna on, and this takes me right back there.

At the later part of heat 2 and 4 they looked like they could use front aero to keep the front end down, or like they had way better traction. Is that a difference in track conditions or what?

I like Brands Hatch better than Silverstone. Be a good place for an Indycar race should they ever cross the pond again.

Induction noise bouncing off the concrete walls. Heard somewhere that, while the power-mad R32 ruled Bathurst, nobody could _touch_ these E30s at Wellington. One would think those little DTM flyweights (both this AND the 190E) didn't abide by Newton's Third Law, given that when they change direction, physics seems to barely put up a fight!

When F1 cars rally were racing cars and not tech-filled, overweight, washing machines. And Brands hatch was the best track in Britain to watch F1.

What a car man seen it at imola zandvoort and silverstone the engine sound goes through you… In those days you could walk down the pit lane and visit your team watching them work all night to change heads and turbos. Nothing like nowadays nowhere near

The V8's have the power but when pushed hard by smaller cars, the V8's almost always lunch their tyres and brakes. The longer the race, the better it is for the smaller cars

Ayrton certainly has great taste in teams. He help put Toleman on the map, a team with an underperformed car. He knew to start in a small team and albeit he knows he has no choice that time, he made it work anyway. Next its of course...Lotus and Mclaren~
