COMPALATION OF THE WORST RECORDED ICE STORM EVER IN MAINE FEAT. ROB CALDWELL AND JOE COOPO
I suspect this was made in the 70's or 80's from the clothes. BAR was a helluva railroad. Sad most of it is gone.
How wonderful to see so many people I'd known all my life. Frank Larlee, Clyde Boutilier, Forrest Bunker, Wayne Duplisea, Mr. Strout and Mr. Robertson, among others.
Was 10 years old when this happened. No power for 2 weeks. No phone/internet for 18 days. Me and the fam slept in front of the wood stove most nights. Made the best of it with what we had.
What a celebration of a true success. Long live the Bangor & Aroostook RR.
It will live on, but only in memory. What a shame it's all gone now
I wasn't sure if that was Bill Adams at the control's at 44:58. It sure looks like him.
This is really a wonderful video to watch. I grew up in Houlton when my folks moved there from Woodstock, N.B. 1950. I was 2 and eventually lived out on Smyrna St. until I moved to New Limerick in 1965. We grew up around the Houlton Station. As kids we loved it after the R.R. built a grated side walk going over the Meduxnekeag River. As young boys we would sit under the Riverside St. end of the bridge waiting for this one beautiful woman who worked as a secretary for the RR and we would peek. She had to hear us giggling.
What a blessing to see this! History, and all of the hard work, time away from families, and dedication. My grandfather is at 40 min.and 16sec. Franklin "bob" Holmes. Smoking the pipe.
I was just 6 years old but I remember this. I lived in Leeds and we lost power for 2 in a half weeks.
How I get here..
The storm even slammed in Montreal.
i worked in this with cmp lucas tree worker.still have nightmares of me working in it.i got hurt twice one with a piece of small metal in my eye that some how got passed my glasses & face shield.worked 24hrs before going to hospital.
I remember this I was I'm 8th grade, Garland St. Middle school in Bangor. I stayed with a friend for over a week due to her family still having one wall that had power in the terrace apartments. It was incredible my parents were freezing heating the kitchen with our stove. We had 8 or 9 days off from school. It was thriling as a kid but also scary . An we accidently wrecked a next neighbors young daughters plastic sled sliding down a hill into the side if an apartment building. My friend who I allowed to steer that one time smashed up into the building.she messed up her hip. I joked with her how that whole apartment building just came out of "no" where right Carla?!? lol
In addition to Massachusetts and Rhode Island, power crews were brought in from other areas of the United States to restore power to most of Maine. The storm cost $8 billion in damages.
LOL
Ahh young cindy
Sunday at 630pm our power went back on and I got to watch the NFC champ. Game
