I went to Maryport in about 2017……. a living museum,,,,it was like being in 1930s Wednesbury..i liked it…but it was quiet,as if a lot of people were absent..the same day i went to Cockermouth,which was lovely too..

I was there at the unveiling. I was one of the BDMLR rescuers who worked on the rescue of Marra and I was on the pontoon when she was uplifted from Maryport marina. I was also the one who later had to go and collect her hacked into pieces body and take it to London (minus the lower jaw which was cut off and stolen by the people contracted by the council to cut up the body) for a postmortem report to be carried out. The whole sorry episode saddened me. But I made some good friends in the week I was in Maryport, who are my friends to this day.

Don't knock it, people get on best they can, most if not all homes will extend a warm welcome, perhaps Local Authority yes, clean, orderly, but please do not look down upon them, steadfast folk, they do best they can in the circumstances and you'd be surprised the good will and fellowship extended in that locality.

This song would suit the possible live-action adaptation of Disney's The Little Mermaid; originally created by Hans Christian Andersen along with Thumbelina, and The Snow Queen. I could create a mural this song would also suit; one of Poseidon and Syrena. The ruins of Atlantimo, brother kingdom of the sister kingdom Atlantica and both a cousin to Atlantis that Janelle (Jennis) Thundorns will explore after becoming a mermaid princess and sleeping with Maya's tail wrapped around her in a tree of a small islet as Maya chats with Brett and Katie about her need to leave the islet to return to America for her quinceanera, wakes Jennis, and prepares to leave with Jennis bidding goodbye to Maya and resuming her swim, it will feature all the aquatic legends and fairytales and the statues of Syrena and Poseidon (this song will play beautifully as she roams the ruins). I’ve just come across this set of archives. It was lovely to see Sidney and Phyllis Logan in their butchers shop. It brought back many happy childhood memories because our family used to spend lovely summer days on Allenby beach with them.

ha me & my son were judges in this carnival presenting the Harrison Pattinson Gold cup to best entertainment on route, I can't remember their name now but they were the girls in pink & blue polka dot dresses, I was wearing a red trouser suit that day! my son was carrying the Gold cup.

The council didn't have the common sense to protect the Senhouse estate or anything else to do with the town's heritage . They did introduce hovercraft rides once from the harbour . Workington and Whitehaven got all the investment . Maryport got the unemployment . That's why we left .

I was 1 year old then. My god, things have changed and I'm only 35. I love seeing the old cars and shops, they say everything about the time.

I sang this to my daughter Calypso Paikea Rhyder while she was in the NICU in her isolette and as she died. This is the first night since that horrible day 5 1/2 years ago that I have listened to this song again. And now all the tears are back and I miss her. I've decided to start singing this to my other children.

Hayley Westenra, very nice but I prefer soulful maori girls like maisey rika, kahu maxwell etc to be singing these songs.

I think you will find it was Princess Iwa Skerrett that first sung this song in 1915 (I think!). She attended the exhibition with Te Arawa but from from the deep south - Invercargil.
