1965 THUNDERBIRD FRONT UPPER BALL JOINT & CONTROL ARM BUSHING REPLACE

1965 THUNDERBIRD FRONT UPPER BALL JOINT & CONTROL ARM BUSHING REPLACE
did you have to custom make those fenders or were you able to buy them online somewhere? I've been looking online and have found some but I'm not sure if they're from legit websites lol
Absolute beauty 🔥🔥
There's no rubber bushing on the inside of that upper control arm shaft? my 63 has some rubber bushings in there that are cracked and i'll be damned if i can find them. What were you measuring when assembling the upper control arm?
No way you can change the front suspension that easy. You guys loosen everything up before you start videos to make it look easy. Took me 3hours to separate the lower ball nut using heat and a 4 pound hammer. So you ain't that good .
I hope someone reads this.. The proper way to take out these springs is to use a jack under the control arm to compress the spring partially with the weight of the car. It will cause the spring to straighten out (no bend) and do most of the work for you. Put the tool on, gently lower the jack and then you may need a few more turns on the compressor, but that is it. You will have a nicely compressed STRAIGHT spring!
I'm looking in to buying a 70 Skylark wat engine is that
Man, I wish you were in Northern California. I need that same thing done plus replacing the pitman arm and idler arm. Good video
watched your video, have a 2008 a6, been blasting it, impact wrench, then long bar but the 1/2 inch wrench broke (x2, craftsman). Any ideas if I cant break it loose. cut it?
You can either go after it with a torch and put some heat into it, or get a stronger breaker bar/ratchet and longer cheater pipe. Good Luck
Most stubborn nut ever lol
Good to see you are aware of the danger. Those are especially long and powerful!
I have a 1979 T-bird that needs this done......how much will it cost ?
I too have a 79 bird. Thinking of tackling this myself come springtime
This in not a DIY job! If that spring gets loose it will crack your skull like an eggshell!
Hi I have same car and I want to upgrade the engine and to change it to newer one as engine of Dodge Challenger 6.4L do you think it’s possible and if it’s not which engine you suggest to me.
Why 390 is a great engine
Hey there, at 5.00 when you took your hammer to it. did it litterally just drop down? i am currently trying to replace a ball upper ball joint on my 64, with the spring in place. I am currently struggling with trying to get the hub to drop. I thought it might be due to tension from the spring, accord to the book you dont need to remove the spring to take out the ball joints. what would your advice be? kind reagrds chris
Yep, just crack that bad boy with a hammer while the suspension is hanging and it should drop. If its being stubborn, it's probably just seized in place and needs a bigger hammer. Hope this helps.
I am working on my 65 now and having issues removing the upper ball joint. Might have to hit it with some heat...
I saw a mechanic with the same spring compression issue. His solution was to remove the shock, then lower the car back down (compressing the spring using the car's weight!) then clamp it off and re-raise the car. It was a newer car (1969) but I'm guessing there's no reason it wouldn't work on this flair bird.
great job, need somedetails though, Did you lower sway bar, or remove connection bolts with transmission (Manual T)
Nice video!!! The new kit it is looking fire!!👌🏾👌🏾
Thank you very much for the video. I have a '65 Thunderbird, and I'll be replacing the front springs and possibly the ball joints, so this is very helpful. I subscribed and gave a thumbs up. Best wishes Otto Shop.
Thanks from me as well. Appreciate.
Good job! Stay tuned! Stay healthy! Sunny greetings Lobo
Thanks. We have a 64 T-Bird. The front end looks the same. We will be doing the same thing!
Great Job! Stay tuned! Best Lobo
