Surprised that you didn't have clone soldiers all over the place. When I started my little ironman-esque run, I got 2 the first day and then 1 almost every day. I stuck to 0.4 because well less than 10 days of skills can be rough, but Barons and clone soldiers made it very easy to buy the books and blueprints.
Really enjoying the videos, been playing on and off for a few years, tried to go into low sec a few times and didn't go so well. Would you consider explaining your travels in and out of low sec in one of your videos so newish players like myself can learn from your knowledge and experience? Since I started watching Jane Honesty I have again downloaded Eve......lol, yes my wife laughed in my general direction.
Glad you're enjoying the series. And welcome back to Eve! Highsec, at least you have Concord, which doesn't mean you're safe. Nullsec, if you're with an alliance and in your own territory, can be relatively safe. Lowsec is a bit of a "wild west". Expect to lose ships. Lots of players hunting, and sometimes they're going to get you. That's the game. That said, there are things you can do to mitigate some of the risk. D-Scan is your best friend. Start there. Making safe spots is another. Lots of good vids for both of these. I try to remember to point these out when it fits into the story. Any other suggestions from the community here are welcome!
Great video
Thanks!
..."And then Jane warped into a gatecamp and got blapped within 3 seconds"
This could happen!
This episode was amazing. Please keep making contents like this.
Glad you liked it.
awesome video, Just today I started contemplating this exact journey. something about starting from base materials is exciting.
Wishing you all the best as you contemplate undertaking the adventure!
Stratios. One of my favorite ships. 😊
To my mind, one of the most beautiful ship models in the game!
So well done. Need to go check out Eve Hub for my challenge.
Thanks. And yes, cannot recommend Eve Hub enough. Saved me hours, if not days.
finally finding time to start watching your series. Excited to see how you'll do. Fly safe! May your moon goo be plentiful and unprotected <3
Welcome! 🤞
Drone sites can drop all types of salvage.
Yes. In hindsight that may have been more efficient. Downside is that because its a larger loot table, the chances for the one(s) you want are lower. So travel or grind longer, I guess?
@iCasparius good point. I have noticed the level 1-4 drone sites almost never get run since they don't "spawn escalations" just expeditions. Which in high sec leaves more salvage locations in one system.
Great vid. Good stuff the method/importance if making it your system with tactical bookmarks.
Thanks!
Other than extracting from a WH I lived in for a year ,I don't even bother carting stuff anymore. I have moved so many times, and collected so much junk over 20 years, I now just have "outposts" with various inventories. I clone jump and move portions as needed. Thanks for reminding us to create perches. Those smartbomb gate campers in lowsec are a nuisance.
Yes, best guess here what Jane will actually find useful to have on hand rather than make again or go back for. Chances are most of that stuff will stay where it is forever. On my main, I've got tacks all over the place that I share across all my alts. This run being what it is, those are off limits.
@@iCasparius The guardrails you have made for yourself is what makes this experiment so interesting! Playing EVE poorly? Nah, just hard mode!
Hope you and Jane had a fine break.
We did, thank you! Happy new year.
The Velator is so overpowered, you get two whole drones
Bill called this out as well. I've done similar starts (not recorded) on each empire, and for sure the Velator is OP. I admire you're commitment to Amarr, and I do like the ship designs, but I've never been comfortable (as a player) with energy turrets.
Well this was entertaining to watch, excellent choice in music. Usually I find that EVE players have a terrible choice in music for videos so it's really nice to hear this
Eve players run the whole musical spectrum for sure! (And several other spectra, too!) Glad the selections are working for you!
This is going to be fun to watch, I'll miss Bill's series
Thanks. Bill's adventures will be hard to find an alternative for. He did mention starting something new in one of the later episodes. 🤞
Happy Holidays Jane!
Happy Holidays!
o7 Your narration and story are very engaging, and your video editing is getting tighter. Nice job! have a great holiday season.
Thank you. Happy holidays to you. o7
There's a loot all keybind? Always something to learn in eve...
Yes! Default is just the "enter" or "return" key.
I think Thruster Consoles are Rogue Drones and Angel Cartel drops. Happy Holidays, Jane!
I've only found one source for which salvage is available in what wrecks: games.chruker.dk/eve_online/salvaging.php I've no idea how accurate it is. Apparently 1 person's observations. If there's a better place to find that, I'd REALLY love for someone to enlighten me! Please and thank you! Edit... and now that I've gone back to look at it again, it does say Angels. I'd been looking at the line above it. Doh!
Happy Youil, Jane! Also, if I may - a MTU and some salvage drones might be a fine present to yourself. Having loot & the wrecks of your enemies in one place will make harvesting & salvage much more efficient. Having drones to help salvage will make that even faster and require less player intervention.
Indeed, these are some fine things for Jane to work toward! I'd thought that MTUs required materials from reactions, but looking now on Fuzzwork, seems they only require PI. I wonder if that changed. In any case it seems either is within a reasonable reach. Thanks for the suggestion!
Go Jane Go , Merry Christmas :)
Merry Christmas!
The remote armour repper is handy for repairing your drones
One of those things that I mange to constantly forget to do! Thanks for the reminder!
Hi, Bill sent me too
Welcome!
Bill sent me. Subbed.
Welcome!
Loving this series! It's impressive how quickly you can get yourself from zero to hero, even with strict guardrails.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Spamming D-Scan in lowsec is a survival instinct all players need to learn! I was totally expecting that SFI to jump you, because... that's EVE!
There was a plex within the range of my D-scan. I think they were sitting there for the timer.
Nice upgrade from the battleship-slaying corvette!
I've never appreciated being able to fly a frigate as much as with this one!
This takes me back to that first summer of 2003, where every pirate hunt could potentially drop an upgrade to let me hunt richer prey!
I'm much newer to the game. Started playing during the covid lockdown years. But I wish I'd found the game back in those early days for that pioneering experience you speak of. Maybe they sound better than they were. Idk. "Good old days" nostalgia!
On a semi-break from the game after 20 years of grinding, but this little adventure makes me want to go back!
Bittervets always welcome here!
This is absolutely delightful!
Thanks for stopping by! Congrats again, on building the Cynabal!!
I enjoy your videos, and your story telling. Makes it interesting
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying the show!
If you’re doing missions, you are doing eve wrong. If you want salvage, start relic and data hunting, get out of high sec and figure out wh’s . Get out of the baby pool as fast as possible.
LOL. Thanks for the advice. There's a good case to be made that the whole premise of this playthrough is "doing Eve wrong"!
Anime profile pic detected, opinion is invalid.
you know the greatest thing about sandboxes? you can play whatever way you want. Sure you can do things more efficient or hell even less efficient. I honestly wasnt even expecting him to be doing missions as i thought it was a bootstrap video but i obviously missed something along the way.
Ever thought about people actually doing missions for fun? "You are having fun the wrong way!1!" There is nothing that shouts "narrow-minded idiot" as loud as someone who only sees his own style of playing a game as valid.
Great job and always love doing salvage You can find some good stuff worth quite a bit and also keep the space lanes nice and clean
Jane believes in the Girl Scout rule: "Leave your site cleaner than you found it!"
@iCasparius 😄😄😄😁
Would I be able to contract Honesty Corp to produce ships, and stuff, at an increased rate?
LOL. Honesty Enterprises deals exclusively with tax evasion and money laundering operations. Sometimes Eve has an uncanny way of mimicing real life, eh?
Great job on the mission and nice loot
Thanks!
That Tristan is fit very near what mine has on it - I've been really enjoying my own "no market" adventure, and just got into my frigate this week as well! Fly safe-ish! o7
Congratulations!
Another great vid I wonder if you should swap out the damage for your guns for damage for the drones? Even take the web out for a drone nav or tracking?
Yes. The magnetic stabilizers are part of the fitting influenced by the "this is what I've got sitting around in the hanger" aspect of the run. They'll get swapped out soon enough for Inertial Stabilizers. I do like the suggestion about the drone tracking in the mids! If I can find a meta variant, I'll pop it in there! Thanks!
Thanks for the series! And have a great holiday this week!
Thanks, and you're welcome!
Hey, Finian here from M.I.A. Glad to see you back. Since M.I.A. went dormant I have been doing the Corvette2Cynabal challenge. It is a very fun way to play solo. Tristan is great, but I went for the Atron. Tough little guy and you can fit it as a fast (under 2s align) gate runner. Nice job on the videos.
Hey Finian! Great to hear from you. I've been following Bill's adventures as well, which is obviously a great part of the inspiration for this series. Atron is great, and that >2s align is sure tempting!
nice video. great storytelling :) thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I really enjoy these kind of series. Hope to see more! 😁
Thanks! Glad to have you along for the show!
Bill sent me. o7
Bill is awesome! Welcome!
Bill sent me too 😃 Good luck on your journey!
I have also been sent by Bill!
Me too! (5?)
Loved the vid and I think the best frig would be the trusty Tristan Has room for guns and is a true drone boat and they can help push out more damage
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. The trusty Tristan certainly does have a lot to recommend! Appreciate the suggestion!
By the end of this episode, Jane has enough ISK to finally buy a frigate blueprint. But which to choose? Would love to hear your thoughts about which frigate blueprint you think Jane should buy. Make your case for which blueprint in the comments. I'll admit I've already got my eye on one, but maybe between now and next week's episode, if someone has a better idea, I'll change my mind! Tune in next week for the reveal!
Here from Planetheads recommendation. Really nice!
Welcome! Friends of Planethead are friends of mine!
Very nice to listen/watch. While cleaning.
Glad it helps pass the time!
fun show to watch, you should use 1440p though because EVE is annoying like that haha
Thanks. I've been experimenting with a few different recording and editing apps. 🤞
