Nice sounding bells

Really lovely bells. By the sound I thought they were prewar as the tenor has that classic drone that seems more prevalent on pre war rings.

The bells are nice enough.... but I think the tenor lacks power in this clip!

I have rung here they are not easy I'ts a long draught and unguided

It is actually just within Worcestershire although in the Hereford Diocese.

The front bells are light and they can be easy to ring but the back bells are heavy and they can be difficult.

I've rang at that church a lot.

@sdgwebb Haha, my style is pretty shite so of course I struggled!! I remember the 3 being a lot easier to ring and people saying the 4 was slightly awkward to get up right. Maybe I will ring there again and find they are easier as my style has improved and I am more experienced now, but I reckon they would still scare me somewhat, they are daunting (unless you are quwers who is a regular and never admits he is wrong or scared!!!)

@bellminsterboy They are super, the tenor is beautiful, unlike Westbury's it requires no bounce as it is so light set and goes more like 26 than 36cwt!!! The rest of the ring are just as good!!! I have a vid of the tenor ringing up to come!! :)

When was this taken? Doves has them down as being unavailable at the moment because of church renovations!! Nice sounding 8!!

Ive rung here too!! Sounded atrocious, but easy to ring, and good for peals & 1/4s - virtually inaudible outside!! Good to finally see a decent vid of these on YT!!

When you are outside at the beginning, that is not stedman because the tenor is in. Fantastic Bells

@ItsAlexOmg I dont think these sounded TOO bad, although the tenor certainly needed replacing!! Still, judging by the video of the new tenor, they certainly won't regret replacing these!!

@KDowner94 In now and test rung so the story goes, but nothing on here yet I don't think, but from what I have heard, the new ring is top notch.

@bellminsterboy Not at all, I was merely saying that I am not a fan of Taylors. Anyhow, I come to realise now that my comments about Taylors in the past have been rather ridiculous and un-informed, but now i know that Taylors, have and STILL CAN produce cracking stuff whether you like them or not. Most of Taylors 'vintage' stuff is SUPERB!!! (still prefer whitechapel though - honest opinion only). :)

@KDowner94 so are you saying that York, Worcester, Exeter, Evesham etc are crap? If you are then think again!

@KDowner94, glad to see that! Taylor's have a great deal at stake with Cornhill, and the people behind the "new" Taylors are not the sort of people who would allow rubbish to go out of the door to anywhere, never mind Cornhill. I'm sure the tower will still wobble about, like most London towers do, but I believe that we can all look forward to a particularly fine, if slightly twitchy ring of 12 which will finally do justice to a splendid looking tower!

@bellboy222 Take back my word - these really are awful aren't they!! I reckon the new will sound fantastic - judging by the video of irkibby's of the new Tenor!

@belvedere261 What if the ceiling hole and rope guides are out of alignment?

I can't see how people dislike the bells of St. Pauls and then go on to say that these 'aren't too bad'.

WARNERS!!! I dont think these are rung very much. They werent particularly nice if I remember correctly.

@KDowner94 Both foundries have produced some really uninspiring dross in the last 40 years.

@bellboy222 Hi, I agree that Taylors have cast some brilliant peals of bells in the past, I'm just not a fan of modern Taylor bells thats all - the towers you have mentioned sound fantastic!

No one can honestly say any of those are rubbish! Closer to home, and a lot lighter, what about Portsea for a cracking 8? I'm not trying to say that Whitechapel bells are no good, they're probably casting the better rings at the moment. We will soon see what the new 12 for Cornhill are like. Taylors replaced the bells lost in the war at St Dunstan in the east (now gone) and those lucky enough to ring on them in the short time they were there said they were the finest in the city of London.

@KDowner94, Kieran, I cannot understand where you've got this idea from that all Taylor bells are rubbish. It's not as though you can make much of an informed judgement based on the Taylor bells on the IOW, there are no really good ones there! But from 1897, for the next 50 or so years, Taylors cast most of the rings universally considered to be "classic". York, most of Redcliffe, Worcester, St Patrick's Dublin, Manchester town hall, Pierhead, Inveraray, Beverley Minster, St Mary's Beverley too.
