back to base :)

my first base jump after i broke my back last year in may. directly after the accident i was sure that i don't have stress to jump again and i will do it as soon as possible. i could have jump nearly half a year ago but it wasn't easy for me to win the battle against the fear... but finally i won :)

i hit the door with my right foot and started spinning. luckily plan-a to stop spinning has worked! after that i was fighting the whole flight to keep the direction i wanted and didn't start spinning again. at the first pull attempt i couldn't find the handdeploy. i don't no why... i was a bit nervous before the second flight :D

Very nasty little knot on the back left riser, totally slack break line, what do you reckon caused that?
0:35
there's another base jumper in the trees Hans...
I'm only a paraglider, but with these issues we can lean our weight on one side to avoid the spin. Is that possible he could have done that too with skydiving wings to slow down the spin ?
this harness have a special system to equalise the load for on heading openings. so unfortunately no option. what I should have done is stall the canopy with pulling the rear riser until canopy collapse. this maybe realise the tension knot
"Whoo hoo!" Translation: I'm not dead or disabled!
Ну и чем кого удивил-это заслуга только планирующей оболочки.
You jumped off perfectly stable ground for what reason? And you were surprised by the outcome? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wasn't surprised... I know the statistics. base is like love... only those who had the experience can truly understand what it's all about. everyone who had it once want it again... even after the dark side hurt them very badly
Poetic ahh reply
Its the sounds of impact that make my blood curdle... unfortunately if you spend enough time in any airsport you "feel" that sound! Hope you came out of this well bud! Lower leg or knee injuries from that one im guessing? Maybe even hip?
broken back (1 vertebrae unstable) 1 broken rip and broken sternum. injured liver and spleen. luckily full recovered :) the doctors was also wondering that no lower body part was injured. I was very lucky that I hit soft ground that was slightly downhill (rocks everywhere) and that I was looking downward and the head didn't hit the ground. good trade for the compression fractures at spine rip and sternum
Listen to Exit Point Podcast they talk about this a lot. So far there isn't a real answer.
You dont want to read about "wingsuit" and "fail" in the same sentence.
not every fail is fatal... most are luckily not
Brass balls.
How many regular jumps before wing suit jump ?
200 jumps.
SHE ALMOST TOOK THE PLANE OUT !!!!!!!!!!!!
Hilarious!
Damn man. You probably went from feeling amazing while flying, then oh sh*t something's wrong when you opened the parachute, then being slightly grateful for landing on a tree which you thought would hold you up, and then you must've been like ffs when you started falling from the top of the tree. Glad you're okay. I only hang glide now but I'm a little interested in BASE. Yo still at it today?
close to reality... 1. I was aware that the chance to be saved by the small tree is not that big. 2. when I was falling from the tree all fear was gone and i was relaxed. the only thought I had was: I never had something like this... let's see what happens. I jumped again after the crash but I didn't jump for a long time now. I only jump once a while... if you do it once in a while it's an amazing feeling but if you do it every day you won't get this feeling anymore and you do more and more to come close as possible to this feeling and the risk to die increases exponentially if you think about doing it read "the great book of base"
@@martinhuehnerbein2497 great way of putting it. I've had exactly the same experiences with hang gliding. At dunes you can go for flights really often and they feel amazing but after a while you start to get used to the feeling. It's kind of good in a way that I can't just go somewhere any day with my hang glider. I need to wait for weeks so I'm not doing it very often. Base sounds very rough, listening how Chris mentioned losing many friends is also a reminder for me what I might get into.
Idiots.
Low pull. Regardless of the slight chance of “striking an object” (there aren’t any except the mountain you leapt from) this practice is not going to treat you well. And I care about people.
Where’s the ramp?
at this time of the year nowhere and on this exit is never a ramp
I recommend: HELP! Instead of that ehh thing.
1. not necessary because i was aware that several people saw what happened 2. i bet you never had such pain... hard to choose what kind of noise you make
Eeeeeeh, eeeeeeh
Perfect tracking, sweet jump!!!
Annndddd, you just gained a subscriber! Your videos are simply the best! :))
thanks 🙂
If all your friends jumped off a cliff would you do it?
Fail would’ve been much worse.
Every thing was serene until you jumped
Hey those white flowers at the end are beautiful! What are they called, im afraid i might not know. And great jump! That turn at the end was spot on! Cheers. *:)*
thanks! i don't know the name from the flowers
@@martinhuehnerbein2497 yeah some wildflowers prolly. Doesnt matter. Your jump outdid them anyway :-)
That ok...like its my turn and im scared at the end...legendary
When your life is full of grace but you want end it
base is like love: someone who don't know it can't understand it and those ones that was lucky enough to experience it want it so much as possible... even after the dark side hit them very hard
Where’s the fail?
before commenting something read the description and the comments... often all questions are answered
viel sehen tut man ja nicht
noch weiter konnte sich das mädel welches gefilmt hat nicht über den abgrund lehnen... war so schon verdammt mutig ohne fallschirm und sicherung dort zu stehen
It's the second video i watch from your channel where you have malfunctions. Maybe pulling a little higher would give you more time to fix your malfunctions. Good assessment and response is a matter of time... Hope you'll BASE safe for a long time to come !!
basically a good idea... but unfortunately it's the same like many other things in base: everything you put in the decision cocktail is good for one thing and bad for an other. pulling higher often means less distance to the object and the risk for an object strike increase. if i had done a low pull at the tension knot jump the canopy wouldn't had so many time to gain speed while spiralling down
but thanks a lot for your tip! i like people who care about others :)
@@martinhuehnerbein2497 I understand that !! everything in Skydiving comes with a good and a bad side !! And i don't have neither the experience nor the knowledge to tell you what's right or wrong to do !! anyway hope you'll keep enjoying !! Fly safe
Hello dear can ripley new video
Ooff, nasty looking tension knot. Glad you made a full recovery! I use a tail gait on just my brake lines but no slider control on terminal jumps. I feel like the tail gate on brakes brings lines to tension in sequence from front to back so they seperate from each other while allowing the slider to move down the lines more freely. I also make sure my brake lines are completely straight with no spins and stack my figure 8's as clean as possible especially where the cascades meet up with the lower lines. A spun up brake line can look good on packing but can double back on and twist itself on deployment and possibly get into the loops of the figure 8 stack as it leaves the tail pocket. Never had a tension knot knock on wood.
thanks for the tips!
wow you are brave man i like it i am new friend #jairaonelinemedia
thanks 🙂
Are you still alive without opening parasoute? 😃
yes... i always had luck 🙂 ok... once it was blessing in disguise (video from this also here on youtube)
I Am so late here😭💯
Nice save!! And awesome skill!
Nice finger!
Excellent videos Martin! To a non-base jumper that seemed quite a low pull. Regarding the jump where you had the accident, are tension knots inevitable? Or can they be avoided with certain actions? When I am in Switzerland, I like to hike along the Lauterbrunnen valley and watch the base jumpers and wing suiters.
thanks! it wasn't a low pull... after a low pull you have max 10 seconds canopy flight. unfortunately it's not possible to avoid tension knots
oh 😮😮wow
C est ou ? Merci
it's not in one of the few countries that allows base jumping... so it's better not to name the place. ps most people understand english and a lot of people don't understand french... so it's more polite to comment videos with english title or description in english
Nice!
Glad to see youre recovered
Great man! Was that exhaled "okay" your wife, being happy that you still live?
yes... she was at least same nervous than i was
the guys who jumped before me didn't outtrack the talus from the wall and had to pull way higher so she was scared because i pulled later than she expected
@@martinhuehnerbein2497 schöner Sprung, alles Gute weiterhin.
@@bc2love danke!
What's the takeoff and the opening altitudes?
this exit is 425 meter. opening arround 100 meter. stupid big balls psychos pull at 50 meter and scared pussys at 150
Sick!!
Not bad, some people die on their first wing suit jump ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Amazing, Martin !!! Good luck ! :-)
thanks!
Nice track nice recovery 👊
thanks!
