USA Made Camping Gear I Actually Use & Where To Find It
In this video, I share the US-made camping gear I actually use and provide valuable resources to help you find more! I'm exploring camping gear that is made in America. With the potential for tariffs to affect the prices of imported camping gear, it's a wise move to consider gear made in the USA.
In this video, you'll learn a lot about where camping gear is actually manufactured and discover numerous American-made options to get you started. Watch and learn how to find reliable sources for US-made camping equipment and support local businesses and the American economy.

After some time with these plants, would you recommend these varieties? Are the Whoppers really as big as they say?
@@gladysharker8728maybe a few where . But not as huge as I expected and not consistent. We will be on year three this year, so I’m hoping for larger. Also learning some as I go.
@jaystus Thankyou! I have 20 plants coming in March and was considering more but I think I'll try them first.
@ I had 20 I think of the other variety. Was definitely worth it. We still love them. And both varieties really goods
Why would you not explain who actually pays that "tax". Also, who eventually pays for that assessment.
@@blaner9458 that’s from the full video. About my camping gear prices maybe going up, These clips only let me go so long.
I wouldn't worry too much. Trump supporters say paying higher prices for stuff in the guise of "punishing" other countries is super okay and is all part of the grand plan to make America great again. Only a billionaire could think up a plan to hurt the pockets of regular folks and have the nerve to say we all have to make sacrifices, knowing full well the "we" isn't him or other billionaires like Elon Musk.
And it changes every day.
Cool video on the tariffs especially being from canada and me Buying most of my gear from and made in the greatest country on earth, the united states of America . If you want a good folding hand saw, may I suggest the boreal 21 folding saw . I actually just purchased my MSR WHISPER LIGHT INTERNATIONA stove before the tariffs were supposed to come to canada . I see on the news that we have an extension thirty days so I will also be grabbing. Some american made camping gear this week. Before it becomes too late possibly in the future , may I also suggest for everybody to take a look at Canada's camping gear? Just before the next 30 days, we still have. Canada will also impose a tariff. I wouldn't want anybody to miss out on some great bush crafting stuff that canada has to offer . Thanks for the video i definitely subscribed, hopefully you have some great content in the future
Thanks, that’s actually a good idea, now that it was pushed back, I’m still learning all this UA-cam stuff. Haha
Well, I definitely just stumbled across the video and I really enjoyed it thanks . Keep up the good work ! In just to suggestion, maybe do an update on the tariffs and some gear stuff in a month, or even after we sort all of this out . Much respect from appalachia region of quebec canada !
@ my family is originally from Winnipeg! Been to Canada many times.
@jaystus well then, it's an absolute pleasure to make your acquaintance eh . Lodge is definitely a great company to work with. By the way, they set me off a set of their cookware four years ago, when I was reviewing stuff a little bit more , and that one that says made in u s a I believe, is a birmingham stoven range or BSR or maybe a wagnar if your lucky
Good to know the USA made items.
Why would you tell everybody on yt about our local spot and make it more than local? It’s already hard to get this spot! Oh nooooooooo here comes everybody from outside of South Carolina fighting over this spot too 😢just why this is like upstate South Carolina’s best kept secret now it’s out on UA-cam
@@slickmouf879 I had that convo too. But it’s already been hard to get for years.
@@jaystus i’m not angry at you or anything don’t take it that way but yes it’s already been hard enough to get to for years and now it’s gonna be harder this and another site that I’m not gonna name are the only ones on Devils sports State Park that are highly sought after a year-round to the point where the locals can’t even enjoy this anymore we already get made fun of that South Carolina has nothing so I think it’s best to just keep letting everybody around North Carolina and Georgia and the rest of the country thinking that so we can keep it to ourselves and it doesn’t get ruined with trash and people harming the ecosystem in the area walking all over everything because it gets overpopulated because too many people start finding out about it. That’s the reason why they started shutting down most of the roads on the other side of the lake on horse pasture road, and you can’t go off any of the side trails in a vehicle anymore because all the jeepers is in their UA-cam channels are ruining the bank at the edge of the lake off of Boot Lake Road that whole entire area is $100 fine if you get ca ught camping now and it has been a known about camping area for 70+ years and UA-cam played a big part in it. Just something to think about folks/me that born and raised in this area care a lot about it. So to us it’s not just oh well it was already hard to get, when it makes how much ever beat down the area was becoming get beat down and tore down even worse with trash everywhere. They revamp and do things to Devils Fork State Park more than just a little bit literally every year they do something to it and by the time all of these nine locals with their huge RVs, trying to get them in and out of there with their five kids and their minivan that they’re dragging behind and all the teenage parties come through then the bath houses look like crap again there’s small particles of trash embedded all in the campsites 360° around it so It matters more than a little bit.
@ I agree. I’m also always worried they will open up the area/lake even more. They have been working hard to preserve around it, yet some new keeps appearing on the lake. I’m hoping I teach my kids how important all this really is.
@ they will never open up the area around Jocassee and Lake Russell on the 5 lake channel. That’s the only two lakes they will never do it. Lake Hartwell Lake Keowee and Clarks hill is where all of the docks and houses are for a reason. It has to do with the Corps Of Engineers but that was put in place a while back that they will never inhabit the whole lake on Russell and Jocassee
Sorry, I’m a bit of a nerd on the area because of being born here my mother and aunts and uncles were teenagers when my grandfather was one of the first people to purchase land on Hartwell Lake as it was first dammed up… and my father actually was part of the electricians wiring the turbines on Lake Russell whenever it was first dammed up, so a lot of history in my family with all these waters around here
yes, unfortunately i believe things are gonna go up. Love the cast iron! and the kids water boards!!! 😂 good info
Sorry i will by canadian and china. Your leader is a tyrant
Beautiful!
Thank you!
thank you man this was a very helpful video for a 20 year old trying to buy more of my own gear. especially the chair i just came from another recommendation of an over 100$ chair where yours effectively looks the same
@@patricksugrue2971 thanks! chairs are so useful. But this 20-30 dollar chair has lasted 5 years. Don’t need to spend a lot.
Cut the strings off!
Thanks for the video. Have your tried dimming led string lights with this type of dimmer? I can't stand the LED twinkle lights that I have mixed in with my incandescence on my Christmas tree. I've gone as far as dyeing rubber caps to tone them down and warm them up a bit. Im sorta happy with it but I am curious if I could get them to fade out with a dimmer switch that has with settings as opposed to a slide dimmer that I use on my incandescence.
@@lizardbreath9999 oh I can definitely see that being annoying. I haven’t tried it. It might work. Or like some light led lights , they might just turn off. Also, that’s some impressive dedication to dye them.

I like fire. LOL when I was a kid, i was never allowed to touch the lantern. EVER. Except when my grubby little fingers were needed to tie on new mantles LOL (which was only twice) If only this was a kerosene lantern 😏 I like BiC lighters from Target. My Target has them hanging off a rear endcap near the greeting cards (odd place but OK LOL) 🤷♂️ There was some overpriced off-brand of candle lighters I got at Kroger's one time because reasons and they SUUUUCKED. Great video man! We bought a 5m Canvas Bell Tent with a Camp Chef Alpine Wood Stove for camping and the first thing we did was set it up and spend as many nights outside in it that we could to get our kids involved with hot tent camping and they absolutely love it! We spent a few days up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in November and the temps got down into the teens overnight, That was our first real away from home test and we now have another trip planned to go back up next month for some real serious winter hot tent camping. We can’t wait and I am excited that they are just as excited about it. Lots of memories are going to be make for sure.
@@davemcavene that’s wonderful. My kids absolutely love it. My oldest loves it we slept out there again this last weekend. I wasn’t going to but he wanted to with me. As a dad I can’t say no to that. I’m glad we are all making memories. And I’m learning to make a video too 😂

@@jaystus I bet! Did you just record on your phone or are you using a certain camera? I would just be using my IPhone 12 to record anything if I do end up making a video.
I find the threads on the tie-on mantles are extremely fragile to try and tie a knot with, so DO NOT PULL TOO TIGHTLY.... the thread will snap easily if you pull too hard. Just gently snug up the knot. You may even be able to tie a second wrap around and another knot with the long loose ends.
@@anthonycolbourne4206 definitely agree! I have mostly converted to the clips, just for ease of use.
Great video! I enjoyed seeing all the different shots and details of your display. I was already considering Tru-Tone lights (that’s how I originally found your videos). Re: the zipties. This may or may not work depending on the length of tie but have you tried securing it in a circle 8 or infinity loop (not sure if that’s the correct term but watch a video to see method). When tightened it could secure a light using one zip tie instead of two.
@@grizzsoup oh yeah, I probably just ran out of long zip ties.
Hi, thanks for the video. You don't need to keep the gen that far from your home. I work with generators from tiny/huge. The shorter the ext cord, the better. Just don't have your generator running inside your home and you'll be fine. For caution, have a working CO detector in the room closest to the running gen, or where you sleep. There is enough air outside of your home that it will dissipate any CO gas. If you have any doubts, have several CO detectors. You'll be fine, your gen will like the shorter cords, your wallet will like the shorter ext cords. Use #12 gauge cords even better; no smaller than #14 gauge cords.
@@spockmcoyissmart961 thanks! That’s a good idea. I have definitely leaned a lot from all this.
@@jaystus Another advantage of it being close to your home is you can secure it to your home with and eyebolt/cable lock. You never know when someone may want to help themselves in the night by grabbing and running with you gen out in your yard. Your small honda is easily picked and run type of gen.
@ yes, a few people have mentioned that. Definitely picking up a way to lock it up.
@@jaystus There are anchors for everything, depending on your gen location and home construction. Screwed into wood, brick or concrete {foundation/driveway}. Cables can be bare or vinyl coated for weather. Chains are usually too heavy to deal with. Cables with vinyl are my choice because they won't mess up the gen plastic. When you don't use, roll up into a tote with your lock/cords. ID the tote 'gen supplies' and put away till next time needed.
@@spockmcoyissmart961 oh that’s great! I haven’t had that idea yet. I like that

Have you ever tried facing the bulbs downward on your roofline? If so, do you prefer one orientation over the other (up or down)? Do the lights look better a certain way? This year will be my first year attempting to put up lights and am doing as much learning as I can. Appreciate your videos!
@@grizzsoup I haven’t, mostly because of the clips I use, but not sure I would notice a difference. Though I like the look of the lights on the garage with a white background. Makes the glow look larger. So it might look pretty facing down against the white. Now I’m curious.
@ thanks for the reply. I’m deep down the Christmas lights rabbit hole and it’s been fun learning but man oh man there’s so many choices from the lights to clips. One of the clips I’m looking at allow the bulbs to be orientated different ways. I think I personally like how the lights look when facing down so they don’t stand out as much during the daytime but want to still ensure brightness at night. Haha. Well I’m sure whatever you decide to do for this year’s installation will be great. I’ve been going through all your Christmas videos and it always looks great. If you ditch those carabiners and angle the stakes sharper away from the tent you'll be better off. That skirt is meant to be flat on the ground to put snow on top of. Using those carabiners you cant get the tent close enough to the ground to accomplish this. Your stakes need to go deeper and closer to a 45 degree angle and it'll work great 👍
@@sputnik9708 you’re right, I just have trouble getting the angle right, they pop out or the straps slide off. I’ve only used it car camping so the extra weight doesn’t bother me.
looks like y’all had lots of fun! that is the coolist thing!!
That looks like a great setup. Roomier than I was expecting.
@@dynatrak it’s a lot of fun, but we don’t get many opportunities to really use it.
Camping oven… That’s pretty cool
@@KevinMphotography it’s a lot of fun.

@@BoondocksHomestead it’s a lot of fun. The kids are sleeping outside again
@ i bet they are having a blast!
How exciting! Have you considered using a portable carbon monoxide detector in the tent just in case......?
