Dam it I remember sunfire subs, awesome
Thanks .
That takes a lot of patience and a steady hand. But it turned out super cute.
Thanks, I definitely had to take my time on this one!
This one is good! I love the very hands on description, and that's a nice price you got them for.!
Thanks, they do sound surprisingly good!
❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it
@Sawdust_and_Circuits yes thanx ♥️
Wow, two shafts and four bearings! Really great tool! Tks for the upload! Regards from Brazil
Thanks alot , keep your tools running that's the way 👌
It seems like the thingiverse upload is missing the top piece and includes two of the inserts instead.
I will look into it thanks for letting me know
Ok I updated it should be there now 👍
@@Sawdust_and_Circuits Thank you for sharing these. I printed the original wider version yesterday and am starting to print this one now.
@JeremiahJohnson-d6w yeah these are a good option, the first batch was difficult to separate, they are more convenient than the giant brick I designed but both work well.
Dude. I just picked up one in great condition for $100 from an older gentleman downsizing and getting rid of some of his stuff. I came for the mimt condition 80s Polk bookshelf speakers, left with both those and the most overkill subwoofer I've ever seen. This is my first audio setup, man am I lucky to have stumbled upon this 💀
That's great, been using mine alot lately 😃
@Sawdust_and_Circuits nice. I'm planning on getting a single wall output power surge with a switch to serve as a kill switch. It has a very tiny 60hz hum but I can't hear it 2 feet away. Now let's see how my apartment neighbors think of it 😂
Well Cole is definitely enjoying it.
Yes he was purring the whole time should have put a mic on him
Yes! This exactly the quality content I love getting in my youtube feed. Nice straightforward review of a random object I never knew existed. Also appreciated the use of peeps, haha. :)
Appreciate the feedback! Glad it was helpful and entertaining!😃
After using it a few times did you notice the plastic having any warp from the heat. I would assume that you are using petg?
Not really soap melts at around 180f even pla is 370f so I personally had no issues at all
@@Sawdust_and_Circuits thanks for the reply. Great design and a well put together movie!
@@ezras8889 thanks , still trying to improve 😀
Is the clamping on these suitable for long term listening?
Yes these are very comfortable for long use and sound great I use them often for editing, plus they look cheap so nobody would steal them 😉
Consider printing a stamp.
I have thought about it I have laser etched stamps in the past.
Have you had those peeps since Easter? I know someone who's had candy canes for 30 years. That canning sealer could have kept them fresh all this time.
Nope just got them on Tuesday
Nice. Definitely not buying it.
I did add a link if your interested in the description . thanks for the comment
@Sawdust_and_Circuits I was serious though :D it will just sit in my drawer unused for years. Nice idea though. Time consuming instead of just putting a dot or dash and writing your shopping list. Haha
Link?
Here is the link www.thingiverse.com/thing:6905723
@Sawdust_and_Circuits I owe you, bro! Thx!
So is this not usable with an actual electric guitar?
I would work great for a guitar , it could use a larger amplifier to have a greater level of sound .
Your Passive radiator is blown. That is where the rattling is coming from. The spider is really thin and it rots and separates from the cone thus making the death rattle. You can replace it with an Earthquake MAGMA passive radiator and match the weights from the stock PR. You may be able to use the same weights from the OR radiator. I don't remember if that is what I did as it was a while ago. Works perfectly and bolt holes even lined up. My Sunfire has recently started to Hum so I am going to pull the plate and re-cap it.
I will have to open it and check that, I was running a high level input on it during the test it has not made the sound since and have been using it
The real name for the passive radiators from Earthquake are SLAPS. I use one 12" with a JBL GTi 10" sub.
Can you give link to this model ?
👍👍
Thanks

Have you maybe gotten the files? I would love these!
Where can I buy the files? :):):)
I will put them on thingiverse no need to buy these check back in a day or so for the link 😀
@@Sawdust_and_Circuits omg that's awesome! Do you have a buy you a coffee kind of link?
Here are those files sorry it took awhile to get to it www.thingiverse.com/thing:6905730
Compact, practical, well designed. Very good stuff
Appreciate the feedback, glad you like it
I actually picked one of those up off the street years ago , still have it but Im using an out board amp for it .
I wonder, does it seem like enough power for the driver ?
@Sawdust_and_Circuits yeah the power rating of the amp is 950 watts into 4 ohms
Ug. I have one in my garage now...also broken. I need to take a look into it.
You should the amplifier in these is very straightforward for repair , keep them alive 😉
Dang man I am jealous and envious. I remember a teenage me in the 90's and early 2000's dreaming of owning one of these. Now in my mid 40's I find myself buying old school car audio stuff I couldn't afford back then. May be obsolete compared to todays gear but the nostalgia. I always have my eye open for some Bob Carver Sunfire subs for my living room.
Thanks , I do think thrift stores are a good way to find audio equipment, people downsizing stereo equipment just want to get rid of it sometimes. 😃
I also had a pair of Ohm Acoustics big subwoofers back in the day and an Ohm small sub in the 80s. All passive with crossovers.
Ohm Acoustics are really cool
I had one and it went unused for a long time. I also had to recap it eventually. I think it was not dead-dead, it was acting flaky and distorted. But I forget all the details but the caps are the big thing in these, I gather. If it rattles like that you got it way too high! Place it near a wall or in a corner for best room coupling of the bass.
Thanks for the info I had a 250w infinity 12 " before this it's a great sub , this is a great replacement for that and I was definitely pushing it in the video. Maybe stress testing it 😅
Nice!
Thanks
Wow your sub sounds like a typewriter! Never seen a driver with a magnet that size, nor did I know it had a passive radiator.
Thanks for the comment glad you enjoyed it 😀
I have always wanted one of those! And you found it in a thrift store, Lucky!
Thanks for the comment , I was very happy the whole day even knowing it was going to take some work. 😃
It would have been helpful to actually have you speak about the parts needed, where to purchase, cost.
Yes I will try to gather the files I designed and post them to thingiverse, sorry this was a early video , can't say I know what I'm doing yet but working on it 😀
@@Sawdust_and_Circuits, it’s a great piece of work. THANKS
I got one right now currently using it in my truck rid to a car amp.
Wow , I guess they look alot like the jl w1 subs 👍
Where did you find the STLs for this? Looks Great
thanks for the compliment, I designed everything on my channel so far 🙃
Here are the files for this thanks for the interest www.thingiverse.com/thing:6905730
Great design! A nice dome for the front hub would finish it off nicely. (came from Reddit as well)
Thanks , yeah way too many screw holes in the front I must have thought it would be to flexible, a cover with 1 screw would be better.
magnets are great 👍
Would like to build, can you share the STL files and what motor you used?
Yeah the only annoying part the motor comes from Amazon but only sold in 10 pack , forcing me to make many projects with them 😉
Awesome. Please share the build files.
Came from Reddit. Nice one.
Thanks 😀
do 100% infill i think
Honestly I printed it default fill maybe 15 percent worked fine for me 😅
It's beautiful and mesmerizing!
I'm glad you like it
Very 😎 hope you grow
Yeah me too , best
I like what you did, but do you call it guitar amp because of the larger jack you used? Would have been interesting to hear it connected to a guitar. Actually, I’m curious, as guitars are usually mono, do both drivers play or just one, when you hook up a mono plug in your stereo jack?
I agree I don't have a guitar anymore and I didn't get my coworker to bring his in time . Thanks for the comment
so cool
Thanks
If you took the design of a caulk gun you could make a ratcheting style version
I looked into something like that, my goal with this was fully 3d printed ,the mechanism in a caulking gun might be tricky to shrink and make plastic.
@Sawdust_and_Circuits This is true, the tolerances would have to be awkwardly fine, then it may slip once the surfaces polish over time... Saw tooth might work if it can be printed fine enough...
@@cokker I do have some ideas , i designed one with a finger loop today and a spring return, might work on a ratchet soon.
@@Sawdust_and_Circuits Sweet, well done and good luck in the future 😊
Looks awesome! Tone test?
Thanks, so far just played some music on it
STL?
Give me a few days , I have a few things to put on thingiverse. The page is thinker light if you want to check out what's already up there . Thanks
I like you video
Thanks
I’ve always wanted an earthquake home theater sub. I just got one and I really like it. Though it has a fraction of the power of that guy. It’s 600 watt rms is still pretty good, especially since I upgraded from a Sony 10 inch. You can see a short I made on my UA-cam channel about it if you are curious.
I watched your short that looks really similar in the layout very nicely done.
You're pretty creative!
Thanks mom
About how long did that take to burn 🔥??
6 minutes
Why didn't you add any foam or stuffing inside?
I probably could have the original didn't have any . I have in other projects good idea 💡
I'd try hard not to giggle like a little school girl if I found one of these at a thrift store.
Seems like alot more days not finding great stuff , every once in awhile you find something great 😃
