Actually, back in 2005. Dustin started Downplay back in 2003 when he was still in high school, but only performing covers until their debut album "Saturday" in 2005.
And now Dustin re released it as a Starset song with Ben/Breaking Benjamin(I'm not sure if the whole band with Aaron and the whole crew were featured) just to give us this damn banger and make it more banging!... So my take is he did not really scream in the song before compared to now which gave it more heaviness and adding Ben's gritty/pent up angst vocals makes it better.

@@rajadayana15 almost ALL of “Transmissions” was supposed to be a Downplay Album, but the Record Label was Shafting the band big time… STARSET was actually a side project while some of the other Downplay members were going to University.. guessing the old label is feeling pretty stupid now… lmfao 😂

You can really tell they adjusted their tone and pacing to integrate the breaking Benjamin sound and vocals.
Fun fact: The reason Starset and Breaking Benjamin's version of this song is actually not a cover, it's considered a remaster cause the lead singer of Downplay is actually the lead singer of Starset, Dustin Bates. Cool little fact for ya :)

I like them both about the same. They both offer a different experience. One thing I really like about this version over the Starset one, is the final chorus. Its more bombastic in this one. Its a little more subtle it the starset one. But the collab on the starset one is too good.

Nah Starset version a bit more. More screams, more classical instruments, more overall production and flipping Breaking Benjamin is on it! This song is great and you can sense the Starset in it, but the new version is just out of this world

The remake overall is way better. But the final chorus in this one is punchier and I like it a bit more. This one is a vibe, but it’d really just depend on my mood for which one I choose to listen to. I love the remake, but it’s a bit criminal that the original was removed from Apple Music and Spotify

No. Starset didn't steal it. Dustin's (the lead singer of Starset) previous band was Downplay. Starset just recreated the song collaborating with Breaking Benjamin.
