Building the future for regenerative cities There are sustainable cities, and then there are regenerative cities. While sustainable cities aim to minimise environmental impact and meet present needs without affecting future generations, regenerative cities strive beyond for a net positive impact, by integrating nature into urban environments, creating spaces that minimise harm, and restoring na...

Sustainability trends - what investors want The real estate investment landscape has evolved. Once primarily underpinned by high returns on investments and cash flow from property appreciation, investors now view sustainability as a long-term key revenue driver and a way to capture market demand. On one hand, while sustainable real estate may command higher premiums and may be more resilient to...

Opportunities & risks of decarbonisation in the built environment Decarbonising the built environment could potentially address more than a third of the planet’s carbon emissions. Doing so, however, is a mammoth task. From retrofitting existing infrastructure, overcoming financial barriers, to finding ways of powering the built environment with renewable forms of energy, decarbonisation will re...

Climate-focused infrastructure: The new frontier for green financing? Adaptation financing has traditionally garnered low private-sector interest as it does not present clear revenue-earning opportunities. Yet, in recent years, we are seeing transformative shifts with the development of new financing tools and models that could potentially close the current funding gap. Across Asia Pacific, the...

Reducing carbon emissions from cities is key to addressing the climate crisis. Cities are now responsible for up to 75 per cent of energy-related global greenhouse gas emissions, despite occupying less than 2 per cent of the planet’s surface. At the same time, there is a massive financing gap - almost US$30 trillion is needed by 2030 to help cities to decarbonise, but only 1 per cent of the ann...
How to close a coal plant early? Transition credits, explained | Official Teaser

The consensus on ending coal might be increasingly clear, but the logistics around how to retire entire fossil fuel fleets in a way that makes financial sense is not. In EB’s soon-to-launch mini-documentary, we take a look at how transition credits work, and what needs to be done to shift to clean renewables in an inclusive and equitable way.

China PRC offer mankind an option: How is China navigating its evolving trade landscape? Are strategic shifts & initiatives like the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) & the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) reshaping global economic dynamics? Achieving a substantial $1.8 trillion trade volume with its 14 RCEP partners in 2023, China reduce dependency on traditional Western economies & pivoting towards emerging markets into China Zone Carbon World.
By banning new ICE cars, Singapore will have 100% EV (with some plug-in hybrids) in less than 5 years. Come on, S$170K for a BYD Seal EV? China is selling that for less than US$40k, Singapore is taxing 200% on the EV, and most Singaporean car buyers will buy the S$150k gasoline Lexus/BW/Mercedes/Audi because it's "cheaper" and no "range anxiety". Just imagine how much gasoline doesn't need to burn if Singapore is 100% EVs? and how much money does not need to flow to the oil exporters?

Highly condensed urban areas are suitable to adopt EV for reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
Proof: What Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Nanjing look like in 1980's and what they look like now 2024. 70% all all vehicles in those cities are EV. China has the answer... but remember old saying You Can Lead a Horse To Water, But You Can’t Make It Drink

There's no such thing as sustainable growth. Growth is growth. Assuming infinite growth in a world of finite resources is dangerous and largely responsible for the situation civilization is in today. Energy blindness compounds the long term danger. Creates false narratives that are unlikely to ever occur. GDP is 99% correlated with fossil fuels. Materials 100% correlated. Every dollar is in reality a claim on fossil fuels energy. Yet we know fossil fuels energy is one and done. Fossil fuels are a gift of the sun/earth systems. Dead sea life trapped under continents in the perfect conditions 7:57 where over tens of millions of years they're cooked at high temperature and pressure into oil. We extract oil from wells, wells do not produce oil they are containers of oil. Once the oil runs out and the well is scrubbed clean by fracking there's zero hydrocarbons left behind. Convert fossil fuels energy into their oil equivalent energy and find we're going through 100 billion barrels of it every year. In our current model we must find the next 100 billion barrels of NON-RENEWABLE energy every year FOREVER. Fracked wells deplete much faster than oil wells. A visit to eia data shows wells are in decline. Shows energy returns on energy invested are falling. Easy discoveries peaked decades ago. Each new find is more expensive and difficult to recover. It's also generally lower quality. Methane gas is crucial today as it's the precursor for fertilizer. The only reason earth reached 8 billion precious humans is man-made fertilizer. 80% of the nitrogen in our bodies is from fertilizer. Burning methane for energy and transportation when there's very good alternatives is foolish. We're burning our children's fertilizer! Lastly we're adding 51 billion tons of greenhouse gases pollution into our globally shared atmosphere annually. Trapping heat equivalent energy released by detonating 7 Hiroshima type nukes every single second for over thirty years. Currently NASDAQ and other financial institutions refuse to pull off their blinders to this reality. Until financial institutions do this our situation will continue to deteriorate. We need finance to build new mechanisms to support the work that MUST be done. They also have power to call for peace, war is incompatible with a world of 8 billion with an additional 80 million net new precious humans joining us annually. At birth each makes a 30,000 day claim, average lifespan, on fossil fuels. Each day we waste using old time thinking divorced from reality the difficulty and cost spiral up up up.
if i take some clams and mussels home to cook and eat w my family is it illegal?? of course not the baby bcoz we also eat for sustenance… too small not filling also wait for them to grow

Ecologically those E-jeepneys would provide environmental safe travel. All that Jeepney smog from those outdated 70's models would be a thing of the past. The PH gets its share of typhoons annually which is great for clearing the air (which is why the whole Covid debacle was a joke🙄) but that does little good when diesel fuel from outdated jeepney designs still foul the air all over again. But let's be honest: the real reason this won't happen is because you'll put a whole lot of locals out of business. The government is afraid that might cause another EDSA (which it would🤣)
very good

BS ! If plastic bags are biodegradable then what is the real problem then ?
In the early 60s, people in HDBs threw their food waste and other trash into the rubbish bin chutes. This caused a huge health problems and flies breeding - in addition to the rodents that were attracted by the smell of rotting food. Then a few years later, the public was urged and educated to bag their food waste and other trash into plastic bags provided by the food suppliers and supermarket. After decades of using plastic bags to bag the food waste and other trash, now the Singapore Government instituted a law to charge plastic bags provided by supermarkets and food stalls. Each plastic bag would cost about 5 cents. As it stands alone, 5 cents was not considered a big sum BUT when one purchased market produce and groceries daily, the number of plastic bags could rise to 50 cents to a dollar per day. In a month, that would be about $15.00 or $30.00 a month. To those working class, it may seem trivial. To the non-working class and retirees, every dollar counts. To the poor people, they will not use plastic bags to bag up their trash, food waste and the rest. Some smart guys proposes to use recycle plastic bags. The idea is good but have you thought about the recycled plastic bags can carried germs and virus that can cause COVID, HIV diseases, skin diseases and other diseases that can be transmitted via contacts by humans? Next problem is the return of un-bagged food waste, trash and other organic waste being thrown down the common rubbish chutes? The return of the smell of rotting food and the return of flies, rodents and other insects that love the smell of rotting waste ? Well, what do you think the HDB residents will do? Spend money to buy plastic bags to bag their food waste and trash? Are we trying to get smart to solve a global problem and creating a local health problem or let's say bring back the old problems that we have solve many many years ago? I don't thing that will bring the smiles to their faces ?
😡😡😡why do all these people keep doing this! Some nature lovers like me go to intertidal zone sites to take photos of rare animal species, not catch them, bring them home, and let them die! This is outrageous! We must stop this fast before Singapore's intertidal wildlife is gone!

It's a fascinating approach and I've very happy to hear you got funded and are making good progress. How do you manage the chlorine production at the anode? What do you do to replenish the buffer elements, the calcium and the magnesium, that precipitate at the cathode?

Dear Georg, great video! Clear message. Thank you very much for your ongoing efforts to fight climate change. We have the solutions and if we add the power of healthy biomes to the mix, especially the interaction between tropical forests and the water cycle (evapotranspiration, cloud forming and rain) and we protect and stimulate the vibrancy of oceans to come back, we can stabilize the climate much faster than is thought when only focusing on GHG emissions. Phytoplankton alone has huge power to reverse the atmospheric situation. All healthy biomes make clouds, rain and sequester CO2. Phenomenon such as en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CLAW_hypothesis and the en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biotic_pump need to become top of mind in the climate science communities to understand the power of nature to turn things around. Would love to talk to FFF and the Union of Concerned Scientists and show them what I think is crucial to be allowed on the radar. Warm greetings, Rob.
Thank you very much, Rob! Yes, we have the solutions, what is missing is the will of sufficiently many people, especially in powerful positions.
