If it's supposed to be 1970s,why did you put KC 7 the Sunshine Band Give It up which happened to be 1983?
Apologies about that ... I hope it didn't spoil your listening 😮

Glory days
Dear Ray, loved your video today but was wondering if you could help me with something-my family, the Reillys may have owned the Shanganagh Dairy on Quinn' road and I think my great uncle may have first opened the Quinn's road chalets. Do you know anything about this? I'm trying to do some amateur geneology myself on this farm and dairy.
What a wonderful video and chronicle of local history. Thanks very much Ray.
I wonder if I am related. My last name is Messitt and I've been trying to trace my father's side to Ireland
Shanganagh actually runs from the Shanganagh river through Rathsallagh, the Cliffs, Corbawn, Quinns Road (Shanganagh Grove, St. Anne's Park etc) through to Shanganagh Park and cemetery... Shankill was to the west of the Dublin Road. Shanganagh was to the east.
Very good ray very interesting
Hey man nice video! but I think you have a few details about what you call Shankill Castle beside the mill lane a bit off, its actually called the shanganagh castle (original one, other one i assume is named after this much later) and the castle was built in 1408 by Thomas lawless, I grew up here and my dad grew up here too in the private house beside the ruin, you can see it in my vids on here flying my drone beside it in some clips.
A great story, about a man who did great things for his beloved Shankill. I remember great men like Matt Lauder and Danny Smyth who helped my generation in Ballybrack. Governments built houses but no amenities for young people. It was great men like Bertie Messitt that helped provide young people an alternative to drugs and crime.
Top man Bertie and Gerry kiernon who sadly passed on today rip
A man to be very proud of, well done Bertie!
Many thanks for your kind comments Brendan
Thank you for putting this together. Berties memory is honoured by the kids of Shankill and surrounding area in annual event run by Shankill fc, a spin off from the Shankill youth club he founded, "THE BERTIE MESSIT CHAMPIONS LEAGUE" A local legend remembered.
WORKED A TREAT ON GOOGLE DOCS ALSO!
great work Ray!
