Hello everyone, I have decided that I am going to quit my job as a Science Technician and go into HGV driving ... this is my journey. #welcome #firstvlog #newbeginnings #trucking
great interesting and informative video many thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for showing this. Been out of driving for a very long time and needed to refresh myself with this. 👍🏼
Glad it was helpful!
What Idol penalty
The system was designed to score the drivers based on their performance, but nobody actually pays attention to it. So its just there to annoy us.
Thanks for the great video muz I am starting at Asda next week local to me,this video really helps out thanks mate
Glad it helped
@@MuzTruckin_UK good luck on your new job trucking
Well, well, well. Who do we have here? Hows life treating you, Muz?
Hey Priesty boi. All good here, as you've probably noticed ive had a little career change. How things with you ... (p.s. you need to subscribe and like everything on my channel to make the UA-cam Algorithm happy)
@@MuzTruckin_UK Well we definitely want to keep the Algo happy! Liked and Subscribed 👍

Hi I’m an Asda driver myself part time in London, just wanted to ask, do u always try to get to ur stops at the correct time slots and just do every stop early. Because for me let’s say I get a non returner of 15 drops, I can finish that at around 11 and then chill until 2pm
Hi, Thanks for your question. Way back in the day this what i would have done, tried to deliver all the orders as soon as i possibly could ... even if it was before their booked timeslot (out of courtesy i would ring them to make sure they are home and happy to accept delivery early) ... but nowadays we've been told that no order can arrive within 300 yards of the delivery address 19 minutes before the timeslot. So if a customer has asked for a 1pm - 2pm timeslot, the earliest i can be there is 12.41pm. The only exception to this rule is if on the manifest the ETA shown is planned early (i.e. is more than 19 mins before the timeslot) in that case you could deliver the order as early as you like. On the flip side NO orders can be late (after their timeslot).
Well done, mate! I've actually got an interview for your old job, Asda delivery driver, on Tuesday!
Good luck with your interview, im sure you'll smash it!
Nice one mate! Just had a quick look through your vids & subbed! Hope all goes well for you & you continue to make vlogs, would love to see some days in the life now you're on the big rigs!
Thanks for the sub! More videos coming ... watch this space.
Well done brother 👍, thanks for the top tips
No problem 👍
Hi Bro good video thank you
the point of taking a break is the law... if you have accident and have not take a break its 15years in prision
From Science Technician to HGV driver. I wonder if the main reason for deciding to pivot into to this Industry was not just financial but the freedom of being on the road on your own.
It was definately a financial thing for me, being a science technician was great (worked with an awesome group of colleagues) but it just wasnt paying the bills anymore, so i had to venture into something new.
Nice one brother. Really enjoyed the content, keep it up👌🏾. I'm hoping to train soon and get class 2 license insha'Allah.
Thanks! If you are planning on getting your HGV licence you can go straight from car licence to class 1 ... this way you have all the entitlements in one go.
Yo Muz! Dropped a Like and commented to feed that greedy algorithm. You managing to keep your head above water with the trucking?
Thanks for feeding the algorithm. Thankfully im working with a great set of drivers who are really helpful and the managers are really easy going too. I still havent quite got the reversing nailed down yet but they keep telling me that it will come.
Cool video. What happens of the petrol station is closed? Do you need to go to another Asda nearby?
Thanks! Petrol station almost never closes now that its unmanned and fully automated. But in the event it is closed we are advised to use a non-competitor petrol station.
Its mad that you had a 5 minute trial drive, then the next day they sent you out on your own. I work for the other Green supermarket and we usually get new drivers to buddy up with an experienced driver for a few weeks to learn the handsets and customer service side. Once they have completed all online theory based tests, then one of our assessors would carry out a 2-3 hour driving assessment in the carpark and on-road to ensure the new driver is comfortable with the size of the van. Then when they have passed this, they will drive the vans on routes with an experienced driver as a passenger for a week or longer, depending on when the new driver is confident enough to go solo.
My trial drive was a long time ago, thankfully things have chanegd. Nowadays the training programme is more nurturing of new drivers, instead of just throwing them a set of keys and a delivery manifest.
Any luck in finding a job yet in hgv?
i will be posting an update shortly ..... so watch this space.
Thinking about applying but im not sure im a good driver but i do have a bit of dyslexia will that matter
Definately apply, dyslexia should be an issue,
@@MuzTruckin_UK thanks pal just worried
I've done this job for a number of years too, why would you not just scan off the subs at the doorstep? Saves you trying to remember what it was. Same with ordinary items, just scan it
They changed it now
I found a method that suited my style and i prefered not to scan off, but there has been a recent upgrade to system which means i now have to scan off now.
Do a pov
Muz the ASDA man great video brother keep up the great work
Oh damn when I started driving with asda I didn’t even have to have an assessment
Mine was hardly an assesment, just a quick 5 min drive around the block. Nowadays drivers get a 4 or 5 day buddy up with an experienced driver before they are let loose in the wild.
Please could you add the context, and content for “ Trucking” ? this video is van work. Which you seem to do is Multi-drop in a Van. Not a Truck. Channel name and content does not match.
Dont worry the hgv content will come in due time, this job is just holding me down until I find hgv work
ua-cam.com/video/L6fscPYAgo0/v-deo.html What is a 'Idingly Penalty issued’ >> ??? You had sat for a few minutes after starting your vehicle to warm up the oil to keep the vehicle running smoothly and this sounds up ?
Idling Penalty is ASDAs way of trying to get you to conserve fuel but sometimes it has to be done to make sure the fridge and freezer get down to the correct temps.
@@MuzTruckin_UK Asda has no clue about saving not just Fuel but Engines, which are more expensive than fuel. Warm up the engine for more fuel efficiency
Enjoyed your vlog. You have delivered to me in Earby a couple of times.
Give me a shoutout next time i come delivering again
Asda vans aren’t the best ( ex Asda delivery driver ) and I hate the lightfoot most off them was pulled out off the vans from the drivers
The older fleet (16 plate) of vans were really good and lightfoot is a massive pain
the shortage isnt real, never a shortage..we've been scammed.
Only just found your channel mate and subscribed instantly! Great trucking content and thanks for sharing your journey with all of us 😎👍🚛💨

Did you not do CPC 2 module?
I did. CPC module 2 is the mulitple choice questions usually taken along with the HGV theory test.
@@MuzTruckin_UK I’ve got mine tomorrow 🤞

Interesting video, could you please tell us what your average hours are for the week and what the hourly rate of pay is?
Im only contracted to the weekend as this isn't my main job. A normal shift is 7-8 hours. Hourly rate is usually about 50p-£1 above minimum wage, you get a little more for within London.
current rate is 11.44ph
They’re better rates than what I’m on working for Amazon! 😂
It’s currently £12.02 in Swansea
