It's very possible that his personality has been influenced by Caliborn/doc scratch/lord english which may explain some of his crazier behavior. Cherubs are adept at predominating over a host body so if they are made to share space the cherub wins every time (this is why lord english is just muscle Caliborn and is basically what happens to Jade in meat)

Candy is genuinely one of my favorite parts of Homestuck, so I hope I get to see you read it too. It's definitely not for everybody, though. I bet if the Epilogues had been released without Candy, they'd be way less controversial, but they'd be less interesting, too.

I just caught up to this series, and I'm glad to see another Epilogue readthrough. There aren't many on UA-cam, but this is an especially good one. About Dirk being controlling, I feel like Dirk being an Ultimate Self has definitely changed some things. Keep in mind that Dirk's Ultimate Self includes both Bro, and also Auto Responder, who is part of Lord English. The MSPA Reader Mental Breakdown flash from the original comic implies that the Auto Responder is associated with the Doc Scratch part of Lord English, which definitely makes Dirk's coversations with Rose in this part feel pretty familiar.

btw fun fact, Aranea is actually one of the few characters to have a canon pronunciation for her name being based on the word "araña" (which is Spanish for spider) Thats ah-ra (roll the r) nya. This is courtesy of James Roach clarifying in multiple interviews! (Just something I thought was interesting 0u0)

Nice to see that you are enjoying it. I for some reason I cant even understand why, couldnt get into earlier arcs. I quit OP 3-4 times till the arc that comes after this, but once I got into it, it took over my life. I really love these earlier arcs now

Thank you for the breakdown Cyvonix, I'm glad you enjoyed One Piece so far! I'm glad you brought up Chouchou (the dog from Orange Town which was guarding the pet shop)! As much as I love Luffy, Sanji, and Nami and Nojiko's backstories I feel like a lot of first time One Piece readers/viewers tend to not mention Chouchou's backstory a lot, whether because they think it's not so relevant to the bigger story or because they forgot about it, either which makes sense, but I remember it as one of the first moments I almost cried with One Piece as well (I think I may have found it sadder than Luffy's backstory with Shanks if I'm being honest).

Important thing to remember in OP- Every crew character is super cool, every crew character is absolute dumbass (though there is a possibility of things changing with newest additions) Dont worry about stakes, the strongest of characters in this world could sneeze and take out Luffy as he is in East Blue. After first few villains, most of Luffy's battles would be an uphill one

I feel like you're exactly the kind of person One Piece was made for! Of course, it depends on how you gel with the later stuff, but a lot of what you've already picked up on I see some people seem to miss! Seeing as one piece is one of my favourite manga (and stories in general) I'm super happy to see someone else enjoying it!

Love your takes, Buggy is probably a fan favourite character (and the mangaka's too) , so it's probably good you liked him so much because if you haven't already, you'll be seeing a lot more of him. But you're really in for one hell of a ride, Oda writes a good story, though it can be a little slow in places (especially when you're following it weekly like the rest of us), but it's well worth it in the end.

I love seeing more people realize this series is great. If you already liked this section, you'll likely be invested after the rest of East Blue since you haven't even hit either of the usual parts that hook people. It's also great that you like the art style because it does an incredible job at really making you feel the emotion since the facial expressions tend to be so intense. That ends up being incredibly important since One Piece is primarily about the adventure, the people, their ideals and views, and most importantly, their emotions. The fights are just a climactic payoff for the characters emotions and ideals reaching a boiling point.

i started watching one piece back when i was 11 years old, on a tiny little tv in my parents bedroom. i was watching the german dub which is of course released quite a bit after the original japanese ones, so i could watch an episode every day after school. now, almost 15 years later, one piece is like. my favourite story, EVER. just in general. the absolute scale and, for lack of a better term, epicness of this manga just blows my mind all the time, still. or more like, *especially* now, at chapter 1067 or something. im so happy every time i see someone new giving one piece a shot bc honestly, even though its the second best selling comic of all time, i still feel like not enough people know about it and how great it is :D

I wouldn't compare Cartoon Network to One Piece. Oda is less than a decade older than me. He grew up with Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, Wylie Coyote, etc. The style is more that than anything Cartoon Network has made in the past 20+ years.

Tbh I use to dislike one piece In my teen years mainly because of the pacing,the toxic fandom ,the cartoon art and the villans but honestly I gave it another chance and I watched it from episode 1 and I gotta say I’m happy I made that choice one piece may not be perfect just like every anime but it’s definitely a breathtaking story with so many good moments and vibes that could genuinely never go away one piece is so good

It might be better to do these videos based on the arcs (not sagas) instead of a few volumes. For the first few that you've read (Romance Dawn, Orange Town, and the beginning of Syrup Village) it's probably fine since they're pretty short but later arcs get denser and longer and it's nice to focus on one at a time or even split an arc into multiple videos for the major arcs later down the line.

Don't worry you got through the worst of it, wait you liked it, even Syrup Village the most hated arc in one piece.
