Victor Smolski's Almanac - Soundchaser live @Hoppegarden Hamm 03.02.2024 feat. Janis Klinnert
So last week on February 3rd I had the chance to perform the Rage classic "Soundchaser" live on stage with the man Victor Smolski himself together with his band Almanac! The Rage-Era with victor had a huge impact and his work with Engl Amps also left its mark! So playing this song together with him was a huge honor! The guys from Almanac were incredibly nice and we had a great time before the show and they made me feel super comfortable going on stage with them!
I deeply thank Victor and the rest of the Band for letting me hit the stage with them, I had the most amazing time!
Hope you enjoy the video, and I'll see you next time! :)

Porcupine Tree - Shallow | Guitar Cover by Janis Klinnert | PRS really "PROGS"!

I've been wanting to do this for quite some time and now that time has come: A cover of one of absolute favorite bands with all of my amazing PRS Guitars. I'm really happy with how it came out. Both the acoustic as well as the Custom 24 sound incredibly good in my opinion. They're super versatile and sit perfectly in the mix. For the pre chorus part I didn't even change the amp settings and sim...
Luminol - Steven Wilson bass cover by Janis Klinnert

As some of you may know I'm usually a guitarist and NOT a bassist. A few days ago I got this beautiful Ibanez RB800 from 1987 and it's now my first and only bass! I originally got it for recording and songwriting but as it turned out bass playing is a ton of fun. So I decided to learn a song that I always loved most for its’ amazing bassplaying! So here's my cover of the Steven Wilson classic L...
AMAZING PERFORMANCE! Tool - Invincible live at the Barclays Arena Hamburg, April 28th, 2022

So that was it! My first Tool concert experience! The band played great, the setlist was awesome and as you can tell the lightshow was insane! They even played Right In Two which is one of my alltime favs! The only criticism I have would be the volume... I'm definitely not sensitive when it comes to volume but from where I was sitting the volume was way beyond comfortable. I had to wear hearing...
The Pretender - Foo Fighters Guitar Cover | My Tribute to Taylor Hawkins
Переглядів 8072 роки тому
#taylorhawkins #riptaylorhawkins #tribute #guitarcover After learning about the tragic death of Taylor Hawkins last Saturday I was about as shocked as the rest of the music world. He was such an inspiration to me and his work with the Foo Fighters made me fall in love with Rock music in the first place. Therefore I knew I had to do something to pay tribute to him in some way. This song being my...

Hello there Metal Maniacs! So here it is, another one of Germany's finest metals: Almanac with Self-Blinded Eyes! Besides being one hell of a metal song there is actually a reason I recorded this (among some others) video. Victor Smolski, former Rage Guitarwizard and current mastermind of Almanac gave young and upcoming musicians the chance to share the stage with him and Almanac by sending in ...

Wow you played it perfectly, it is stuff like this that inspires me to carry on playing, started playing in late July early August this year, and I am still motivated to play like this. You earned a subscriber.
@@Renaultfan171 thank you so much!! That really made my day! Inspiring people to play the guitar like my heroes inspired me to play is one of the biggest compliments to get!! Also really cool profile pic, the A110 is simply a piece of art!
@@JanisKlinnert Thank you. Wish you the best!
My bro is on his way to becoming God
@@BorstVcdy :D thank you!
@JanisKlinnert keep pushing bro your time came already
Großartig!
@@peterklawitter3387 Danke dir Peter! 🎸
I want to know what tone and tunning did you use in this song! Amazin
@@gonzalohidalgobastien668 thank you my friend! That was an Engl Ironball with out any effects through an Engl 112 with a v30 and micd with a shure sm57
@@JanisKlinnert and guitar tunning? I think it may be in D standard right? 🤘
@@gonzalohidalgobastien668 exactly! Victor Smolski is pretty much always tuned to d Standard. Very very cool tuning, super heavy and great for riffs
Man I was 1 year old when Tool dropped their first album loved that I have been hearing them all my life and they keep going. Rock on dude.
@@BelLavoroAutoSpa awesome !! A true fan! Thanks for watching
FLAWless my man. I don't say that lightly. SLAYED it.
@@kommi1974 thank you!! I appreciate that a lot!!
If you pay attention to the lyrics of this album Fear Inoculum it was released four months before the pandemic if you listen to Fear inoculum, Tempest, Pneuma, Descending, culling voices they are all about the pandemic. It’s amazing how this album came out moments before this deadly pandemic terrorized our world. Just read the words and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about.. One of the best albums released in a long time
What effects did you use for the outro solo? Do you have a delay and flanger on?
@@Gazmie I used a tc Electronic flashback delay but since I didn’t have my EVH flanger yet I added the flanging in post. The stock apple flanger. Plus some reverb, eq and compression.
Absolutely the best cover I’ve found of this song online. Actually a tighter solo than I’ve seen live from later versions of Queensryche!
@@davefreytag5843 thank you Dave!! Glad you enjoyed the video🎸
Fett! Lieb das Intro Riff! :D
@@JanosGafertDrums Danke dir! Ja das is echt unnormal brutal. Die harmonics. So gut
😅😮
That tone is absolutely insane!!!
@@Gazmie thanks!!🎸
You are the best

🤔
Wow. More solos plz
Thanks! :D
Extremely beautiful!
Thanks Matteo!!
We are so blessed for this band TOOL to be doing this after all these years, going to see them again in Manchester in June 1st 2024.. cant wait.
Well done, dude! There are some terrible Tool covers on UA-cam (which is baffling: Adam’s guitar parts are for the most part quite straightforward), but yours is awesome.
Thank you and thanks for watching!! I appreciate that! :)
nice ... but you manage to take the prog par out of it
What prog part?
impeccable timing, superb tone... job worthy of a VERY talented musician 🔥
Thank you so much! Really appreciate you watching! 🎸 cheers!
You sound so evil... props, you nailed it 👍 + great guitar choice. Keep up.
Thank you Bryce! 🎸
Damn. Somebody's mommy and daddy are rich and spoil-y. Also, well done. Hard to tell, but if the original tracks guitar is playing in the background as well as yours, it'd be way cooler if you backed Adam out
Don’t need to be rich to afford those. But, if you’re poor, there’s always Epiphone.
@@n.j.crawler don't need to be rich to drop 10k on equip?? Ok friend
@@jonathanseibert8832 No, you don't. If you have a job, don't spend your money on fast food, movies and video games. Put everything extra that isn't for your electric bill, rent or car payment towards your gear. Even better, If you live with your parents, they don't charge you rent and you have a job it's all completely attainable. Another thing, it looks like this kid is in Germany where Engl doesn't pay for importing their amps into America. Much much cheaper. If someones parents want to support their kids journey into music, why shat on him for it?
I could not have answered better! It actually was exactly like that. In my youth I didn’t ask for anything from my parents really, didn’t wear expensive clothes always had a cheap phone, no pocket money and I didn’t party much. Plus every piece of gear I bought was used and significantly cheaper than retail price. I got super lucky with a lot of my purchases and didn’t pay close to 10k for the gear in the video. My parents have always been extremely supportive and helped me every step of the way. I work in a part time in an elementary school which allows me to spend money on music and gear which undoubtedly is the most important part of my life. And yes Engl is way cheaper in Germany than it is in the US. But to all of you: thank you for watching and happy Easter!!
@@JanisKlinnert Happy Easter Janis. It’s been a pleasure to watch every single video you’ve done. Keep doing what you’re doing!!
Glad to finally see Justin Bieber migrate over to good music and pick up the guitar.
Tone is mesmerizing.
🙏
Dude! Everything from synchronization, pick attack and articulation, tension control, timing and phrasing...just wow! Especially at your age. Nice job my man, well done🔥 👍🏼🤘🏼
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it! 🎸
Great cover bro! 🤘
Thanks! Appreciate it!
Envious I couldn’t be there… Awesome performance!🤘🏽
Thank you! 🎸
A huge thanks to Victor and the guys from Almanac for inviting me up on stage. We didn’t rehearse anything and didn’t even soundcheck together! This was the first time we played that song together and I had an absolute blast! Enjoy! 🎸
Nailed it! 🎸🙌🏻💯
Thanks man🎸🙏
🔥👍🏻🎸
🎸🤘🏻🙏
Holy shit dude, what a performance! You absolutely killed it!!😁🤯🤘
Thank you, Steven!!🎸
Awesome work!! What year is your Les Paul? Very nice
Thanks!! Glad you enjoyed it! It’s a 2011 led Paul custom maple VOS. It’s a special run they did back then which was reminiscent of the maple neck les Pauls from '76 etc. mine differs in a few ways but visually pretty much the same. I was thinking of doing a dedicated video of my Les Paul, what do you think?
@JanisKlinnert great idea Janis, keep on Jamming!!
It's a '94 (IYKYK)
Wooooow🔥
🎸🙏
What pedals did you use? Edit: i never seem to get the overdrive right. Especially in the part before the last breakdown. It seems so much heavier than the rest of the song.
I only used a tc electronic flashback for the verse delay part and an mxr phase 90 evh for some other little sections here and there. But gain wise just the Engl invader 2.
@@JanisKlinnert ah I see, I seem to need overdrive because my amp has a very clean tone, so no matter what I do with gain, it's never sharp enough for the main verse.
@@myth2285 cabs and speakers are a huge part of this kind of tone. Combos often don’t move enough air and pedal gain usually feels „fake“ unless you spend serious cash. But I hear diezel makes a vh4 pedal. So maybe that will get you in the ball park.
Wow, Danke dir!! 🎸
that last bridge breakdown is so fucking heavy and fun to play. 10 spirals out of 10 spirals. always out, never in.
Absolutely!!
tabs please!!!
I don’t have any, I mostly work by ear. Sorry!
I take my pants off to fart
Loved your guitar and tone! 👏👏👏👏
Thanks!! 🎸

Thank you!! I’m thinking of doing Overture 1928 and re-record the guitars myself. Let me know if you’d wanna see that!
