Autoblock hookup
Переглядів 1,1 тис.3 роки тому
Today we are showing how to hook up both with an ATC and for an autoblock rappel. When tying in for an auto block a couple things are to be remembered. -all carabiners always go from sky to ground, wrapped around, with the opening gate skyward - tubular webbing (pre-sewn, or water knot) can be used as well as 7mm cord -when using cord, tie in a figure 8 bend into a 5 foot section of cord. Only escape from the rock!
Still more complicated then what I've been taught on the farm
Is there a list of knots that are required to know for sapper school?
Simple instructions. Very effective dude please do more shorts like this lol
Awesome!
I literally took the knot test yesterday for the extractor course!
Bravo vous faites un bon travail bravo
What can this knot be used for
Many purposes. A version of it is used during one rope bridge but can also be used while tying equipment down in the back of your truck. It allows you to apply tension to the rope while tying it off.
What application is this used for?
It allows to anchor a knot on a fixed rope that can be moved laterally without any adjustment to the knot. Not something you would climb with.
I'm a former old school climber and I found that to be one of best tutorials I've seen. I don't get the hater comments.
Appreciate it!
Nice😊
Reis bro I haven’t seen you in years, how you been brother?
Please make more content
Why do you need multiple stirrups? It seems like he used only one.
Bro, THANK YOU for your service, and I bet what you just did works, but... That was the most f'ed up and unnecessarily complicated thing I ever saw. I've been a climbing instructor for over forty years, and while "military methods" of operating in the vertical environment are designed to be SAFER THAN BEING SHOT DEAD, the emphasis seems always to be on rote memorization and NOT on understanding concepts. The military's an Authoritarian World, and not without good reason - you're braver and stronger than me, but people who climb for a living OWN the vertical world and, regardless of what your drill sergeant taught you, if you're going to put yourself out as an instructor in this realm, PLEASE take an AMGA course, or AT LEAST a beginning rock-climbing course, and NOT at a "rock gym." Tying a bowline on a coil is MUCH simpler than what you showed us, and in fact differs substantially from your method! 🙏
Pretty good instruction. Not sure why you didn't explain about blowing air into the wet weather bag inside the ruck and taping or repairing any holes. i.e. air floats. Unless its not done anymore. I graduated Sapper course in 92. So many things were different. But I hated how perfect things had to be. Unlike SFAS. If it works? Its good. 4", 6", 8" is BS things to make you a no-go. And really, get someone better than you at snapping a button?! NOT something an Engineer would say. But all in all. Helps soldiers be prepared.
wow thank you sir! I have been scowerring youtube for 30 minutes now just to find a know for my hip tied bag, the springed plastic lock was broken and I don't want to cut the loop so thanks for sharing this, it is really helpful.
8:45 really kills the self esteem
When are we doing it we have to said the purpose and checkpoints? Ty
It’s been nearly a decade since I went but my peers who have gone recently have told me checkpoints and purposes are no longer required. They are still good to know though. If you inspect the knot while confirming the checkpoints, it will be tied correctly.
Great, thanks. You deliver the lessons perfectly...
Thanks for watching and we appreciate the support peter.
Pretty good demo
Thank you. Seeing how you set up the overhand knot made everything make sense from there
I was taught a figure 8 with a hard on . Cause it looks like a peen
I never learn that one tho .. LoL but yeah , it might work on water.
Big help! The soldier goes fast but alright
This should be shown at every Army Instructor course for the “what to do.” It’s all insight. No jargon, no cheerleading, just instruction. Really well done.
Its funny knowing that pretty much everyone whos watched this is watching it because their team leader or squader leader said "show me this knot" and the person didnt know it and got smoked
What is it used for?
It's to attach a movable rope to a fixed point.
This is just a figure eight on a bight, not sure if theres discrepencies between training and the greater climbing/mountaineering community but i reccommend revising this training
those half hitches made a clove hitch
Thanks so much for the video. Definitely the better of the Army knot thing videos.
We're glad you like them
These videos are awesome. Myself and a buddy from my unit are training up for Sapper school later this year and these videos have made everything super easy to follow👍
Christian, I’m glad these videos helped. Good luck on the best 28 days of your life!
Those swiss seats hurt the jewels man
Apparently this bend can kill you if used for abseiling

get your meaty paws outta the gd way in the end i watched this at .25 speed and still don't know how you did the safety knot. everything else good
I do apologize for my meaty paws, lol. I’ll work on making them smaller for you. In the meantime, there are other videos on the channel that tie the safety knot you can see. Check out the square knot, end of rope prusik, and three loop bowline.
@@thedappersapper1399 I was trying to be funny man 😂 your video is fine. This was my first video I didn't know all the safety knots are the same lol
@@tylermarshall1078 you’re good. I was joking too. I have stupid big hands and it’s a running joke around most of the people I work with. I hope these videos help and good luck on your path towards Sapper Leader Course. It’s the best 28 days of your life! Once you earn your tab, share the knowledge, make the regiment better, and never stop learning. Earn the right!
Thanks, I think the Aubreys hat work the best for military personnel
Got it my first try! Thanks !
Where can this type of rope be bought from? I find 550 cord not always the best to use or practice on
11mm static or dynamic rope. Those can be bought at REI but that can be pretty expensive. You can find 11mm non-climbing rope on Amazon much cheaper.
Great tutorial
Umm, I was just watching some live Slipknot concerts and get that recommended now)) Anyway, that's quite educative
😂
I think I’m going to like this channel
That is the most complicated explanation I ever seen for a Bowline. How about the rabbit comes out the hole around the tree and back down the hole.
That’s the most complicated explanation for bowline...how about the rabbit comes out the hole, around the tree, and back down the hole?
Where can I buy a similar rope?
REI has all of the climbing ropes or if you want to save money you can get some on Amazon for much cheaper.
Can you do all the rappel lock in on and off the skid if possible?
That’s something we can do. Thank you for the suggestion. We’ll try to find some time and resources to get those videos done.
Very, very nice. I was looking for that. From Brazil, thank you!
Can you please make a video on the A-frame.

Best video yet, and thats not to say all the other videos weren't informative and helpful. Appreciate it!
Great video! I've been using your videos for my Sapper train up and just for reference.
