Lupron injections & side effects I Fibriods I Adenomyosis I Endometriosis
Переглядів 16 тис.6 років тому
This is a little about my story and continuing journey with my Luperon injection treatments. Some of the side effects, how it helped, and what made it hard for me. This is my personal opinion and experience. I just wanted to put this video out there for people who are going through similar experiences or others that just want to hear a point of view on the subject. Thanks!
I’m about to start taking Lupron. I’m afraid 😢 the dr said the goal is only 3 months and then a surgery to remove the fibroids Have you been Lupron free for a few years now ? If so, are there any lingering side effects?
Hi, I can understand the fear of the unknown. The side affects lasted about 8-9 months after my last round. That being said and looking back years later, it was hard but did help shrink my fibroids and while I still struggle with painful periods, it’s way better. Today I don’t regret it.
I started luprolex 11.25 which is another brand name of leuprorelin acetate and the side effects also include hot flashes, headaches, mood changes like you mentioned, and forgetfulness, depression, sometimes suicidal they are just so bad. Had it in May and doctor prescribed another dose in August, how long were you experiencing the side effects? After taking the initial injection?
Hello… I experienced the side effects 8-9 months after stopping the treatment. It was tough and the hardest part was going through it. That being said years later, I’m very happy I did it. I still deal with pain but it’s less and my fibroids still haven’t grown back the way they were pre Lupron. I wish you the best and hope the treatment is also beneficial in the long run.
Thank you mam
Cool to see a bit of Peru, thanks
Does he loves cats that much? Amazing boy ❤️😊 could be my son 😂😂😂
He loves animals. We are a dog household so he was happy to get Some loving time with cats ❤
True that I love animals and I have a dog in the household. But I don’t like animals that eat humans but I love learning about them
Did they not offer a myomectomy after your treatments ? Why a full hysterectomy? If you don’t mind me asking
She explained that a Myomectomy would be a temporary solution as they grow back very quickly.
Hi. May i know if you had mirena? I am under lupron. Just for IVF. Since i have endo and adeno. But my OB suggested mirena instead.
Yes, I went on to use Mirena and it was a much better experience. Best of luck!
Should not jump to the 11.25 jabs, should try the smaller doses 3.75 monthly
Thank you for the advice. I would like to understand why you are recommending 3.75 doses monthly not the 11.25 if an individual has multiple fibroids.
@@atuheireshillah6913 might be too strong a dose to take suddenly. Start low than ramp up steadily as your body adapts to the medication and dosage.
Thank you for this video. I have been on Lupron 11.25mg since I was 25. I am 42 now. That’s 17yrs. I’m feeling the bone pain and leg pain. Everything you said I am going through. Hope all is well.
Why that long?
Glad it was helpful! I hope you're finding ways to feel better.
hi! there, i had 2 doses also for my adenomyosis, still I have not my period since the last dose, 7 months ago, and now it really bothered me, sufferring from bone pain and leg pain, I just keep on drinking calcium supplements and milk this time.
I have adenomyosis. My bleeding was so bad that i could stand up and it would come out through my clothes, ruin my shoes, and soak the floor. Ive had 4 blood and iron transfusions in 5 years. My dr gave me the Lupron shot to shrink my uterus before surgery and as you said my hair is ruined. It comes out in handfuls. I cry all the time and have contemplated suicide often. The worst part for me has been my feet, especially the tops of my feet, and my calves swell to elephant size. Some days i can barely walk. I am sleeping for 2 and 3 days! And i get out of breath with my heart just racing walking from my couch to the bathroom! This is horrible. But im glad to hear the depression is real. Oh and one more thing and this really made me mad, at first
Ran out of space but i could not orgasm!! Ive never ever had a problem with thar but for the first 2 months after the first shot i could try for w hours straight and while it felt good there was no over the top!!
Hi, thank you for sharing your experience. I remember just how hard it is and my heart goes out to you. That being said, years later... I am feeling better and still have my uterus. At the time it was the right treatment for me, but while going through it, get help. I had those dark thoughts too. Get the support you need and talk to your doctor about all your feeling, so you guys can make a decision together on how many rounds you should do. I wish you the best of luck and know that it will get better, even though I know it's very hard right now.
Dilfetime your bleeding stop this injection
how are you now? i've only just found your video and have already done 3 months of Lupron and don't feel good.
Hi Alison, it's been a couple of years, I am doing so much better now. I'm still struggling with my uterine issues, but the Lupron did help minimize my fibroids and ultimately keep my uterus. I feel grateful to the medication for saving me from a hysterectomy, but it was difficult. Like most things it's very hard when going through it, but now on the other side... I can see how it helped me. It took almost a year after getting off of it to feel "like myself", literally, including for my blood glucose to normalize. I wish you the best and keep hope, don't be discouraged, and ask for help if you need it.
It’s horrible taking medicine that relieves the pain but causes other pain and bad side effects. I’m 33 and at age 32 I had to remove my uterus, cervix, & tubes due to adenomyosis/endometriosis. My pain was unbearable. I had 3 surgeries related to endometriosis and now I might have to get my ovaries taken out because the pain has came back after 8 great months without pain. :/ Stay strong and I’m sorry you’re going through this.
Sorry for the late response. Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I hope you too are feeling better.
Thanks for shairng. It helps a lot! Kindly also share your experience with IUD.Thanks. Take care!
Hi River, sorry I'm so late to responde. The combination of the Lupron and then the Mirena IUD, kept my uterus from worsening, in fact my fibroids got significantly smaller after Lupron and the IUD help slow the progression of my adenomiosis. It was one of the hardest physical and mental things I've been though in this journey, but know that I am better today because of it. I still have pain, but it is so much more manageable.
Hey can u share your email address with us .
Hi. Currently Im in Lupron suffering same symptoms but decided to continue the therapy. I have adenomyosis and the pain during my period in unbearable. Just arrived in US last week, may I ask how much Lupron 3.75mg cost here? Thank you
4030
I experienced that until now i am so emotionally and weak sometimes dizzy
Sorry to read what you're going through. I hope you find reassurance in the fact that years later, I am happy I made the choice to go through it. Best of luck!
Lupron has worked tremendously on my huge fibroid which made look pregnant! I have just finished 1month since the injection and my stomach has drastically reduced the size..meaning Lupron is surely shrinking that damn devil huge fibroid! Am soo happy..hoping for 100% shrinking and escape the surgery. That's my prayer right now.
I'm happy it's working for you as well. Sometimes the good out weighs bad. It's a struggle, but what matters most is to feel better, eventually.
Woow so itz good
Wow this is first positive comment on Lupron. I fear much much more the drug than operation
Im on lupride too though experience mood swings
How long did u take the lupron shot for?
You survived well that's good !
Amen to that!
I’m on my second round of lupron 3.75 and birth control pill. I’ve felt worst now then I did before treatments. Headaches non stop bone pain my feet hurt when walking. My lower ribs and back and neck are the worst of it. I’m almost regretting this shot. I was sick of the endometriosis pain and adhesions. I also have endometriosis on my gallbladder. I’m doing treatments to have the surgery. I wake today in so much pain I just want to cry!! This rash to I get on my hips and back that comes and goes but it gets bad. I’m sorry you had to experience the side effects and the unknown side effects.
As I'm replying so late, (sorry, I don't really go on this account as much as a should). I hope you're feeling better. I still struggle with pain, but it's only a reflection of what it used to be. Thank you for you compassion and I hope you are starting to feel better.
just been put on this and i’m 22😳
I wish you the best, hopefully now you're on the other side of it and finding physical peace.
First of all, thank you for sharing. I would love to speak with you about the Lupron shot in more detail. I am scheduled to begin my shots April 1st and quite honestly very scared now that I've been doing more research. Please get in touch with me if you are willing and able: ashleyhenslp@gmail.com. I'm also the same age, but have been unable to have children so far. It would just be good to speak with someone who has gone through it.
Tho u for sharing. I'm having a hysterectomy soon and the doc is putting me ion lupron to try and shrink the fibroids before surgery. I hope I can manage being on this medication until then.
Thank you for watching, I hope the treatment❤ helped you and you are feeling better after your choice of care.
@@JennTavarez oh yes the surgery went well. this August will make two years since the procedure. I've healed up nicely and my quality of life has improved. hope you all are doing well too.
Thank you both for sharing!!
Does it has side effect
@@zippiemuthoni8muthoni535 if during the hysterectomy the cervix is removed and considering that the cervix is what produces the majority of lubrication for the vaginal canal, there can be dryness during intercourse. So using additional lubricant is recommended. There won't be hardly any discharge notice on a daily basis. Overall quality of life improves because the source of issue has been removed. The only major side effect a person would experience is if they have their ovaries also removed. That person would then have to take hormone replacement therapy for the rest of their life.
I was given LUPRON to treat fibroids, very small sucker that caused me a lot of bleeding and EXCRUTIATING pain. At the time my then by now hubby were trying to get pregnant. When my Gyno who also happened to be my boss offered to do the treatment for free I thought it was Heaven sent. I had all the side effects you described except for the facial hair growth. I had bad, and still do "foggy brain" aka short term memory loss. I developed depression, but what came after the treatment has been slowly robbing me of my life. The ONE important piece of information my Gyno failed to share was that LUPRON IS CHEMOTHERAPY 🙄💀😢 it took me 3 years to put the symptoms together. This is poison guys! Google "LUPRON victims hub" and "petition for Congress to remove LUPRON off market". There's NO WAY this poison has any benefit other than giving you tiny relief, but at what cost?? It's Chemo! There's no difference between a loaded gun and this poison. Enjoy every minute you can with your child, take up extra calcium and feel free to contact me at elissetteg58@gmail if any questions. I am a warrior, no longer a victim. I was NEVER informed it was Chemo, nor was I given the add back therapy, or given bone density tests prior during nor after the "treatment". I've come to find out so much BS lies behind Big Pharma and doctors who make big bucks off us being used as Guinea pigs 😡 Transgenders, young children diagnosed with early puberty onset, us women desperate to try and conceive are all being used by doctors who are in the medical field to make $$$. There's other treatments for fibroids such as: Embolization, consuming healthier foods, acupuncture, Eastern medicine. I am only making folks aware, this poison was developed to treat prostate cancer in men back in the 80s!! There's NEVER BEEN ANY LONG TERM SIDE EFFECTS STUDIES DONE because guess what??? What does CHEMO DO TO OUR BODY?? It slowly kills the good and bad cells..beginning with the Mitochondira, it attacks your thyroid and pituitary glands which is why our bodies go into "menopause" . Seek help, you'll thank me later.
Did you have any weight gain while on Lupron? I’m about to go on lupron but I’ve been on depo provera for almost a year now and have gained almost 50 pounds!! I’m praying I start to lose some weight on lupron because I play soccer and the season starts in August, I used to be 115 and really fit but now I can’t even get myself to workout!
Gianna Murphy -Hi, so to respond to your question, as I had mention in my video... unfortunately I did experience weight gain. I saw it on depo with maybe 10 pounds in 6 months and then almost 60 pounds while on Lupron for a year. Now i must be honest with you and say I can’t blame it all on the shots because I was eating horribly and feeling depressed which led to little daily activity. Now when I decided to drop the weight by eating right and changing my lifestyle I was losing the weight, but not as quickly as I usually have. That being said, now that I’m off Lupron I have dropped 25 pounds fairly quickly... and continue to get the extra pounds off. In my personal experience it was still worth it because I had a year off from horrible pain... just a whole bunch of sucky side effects, but I hope your experience is better and it does help you as it did for me. Thanks for reaching out! Best of luck.
How did your symptoms vs. female family members who went through "normal" menopause differ? My mom had a hysterectomy, not sure yet about maternal aunts (will ask). Your story was very moving and I REALLY appreciate finding your information. I've read & watched a few videos and they were terrifying! I was thinking, OMG? What have I done? I have Scleroderma, which complicates many things....in this case, I have severe anemia & the fibroid didn't help. I look pregnant, and my only son is 26. Go figure. I have to up my blood count in order to get a port inserted, prob in 3 months or so. This Lupron was my only option as I can't be sedated yet due to low hemoglobin & iron (thanks to bleeding that is also occurring in my stomach). So, Lupron....increase counts....port insertion....stomach lining cauterization....THEN I can deal with my options. My hematologist says I may be on Lupron indefinitely as I don't heal "normally' and a hysterectomy (which is my only option) is not recommended. I got the 3-month injection (you're the only woman I saw who's had this), and the injection site hasn't bothered me. Did you have any issues? (I know, minor). I have begun feeling a little warm, but in like 5-10 minute episodes. I felt this 6 hours after the injection. I'm sure I can expect worsening. My "period" started this morning, slight spotting, but has not gotten worse as yet. Mine are rather epic, normally. Hence why I get blood transfused. I'm hoping you don't mind if I periodically ask questions as symptoms begin. I have high blood pressure, so for now my last question is have you had any heart issues such as racing, pain, palpitations, etc? Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Hi teena68, I'm happy you are reaching out, this was the main purpose of making this video, I understand the feeling of not really having anyone to discuss this with. I don't mind you reaching out and you can feel free to ask away, I just hope I'm able to help you through my experience. In reference to your first question, in comparison to the woman around me who have gone through a physiological menopause, I was pretty much spot on all the symptoms they went through. What differed a little for me was I was loosing a lot of hair (a very large amount every wash, easily a ball the size of a grapefruit of hair) and I had also become pre-diabetic (this also had to do with my weight gain), I felt very depressed and that made me eat way more then my body needed as well as things that weren't healthy... but Lupron can raise glucose levels, I just need to take responsibility with my poor eating habits. Another difference was I started to grow facial hair, thick stubbly hair on my chin. I had never experienced that before, not even with my PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome). The similarities I had with some of the older woman in my family were hot flashes... I was dripping in sweat and felt as if I had been set on fire even in the NY winter. I had horrible mood swings, I felt angry for no real reasons, depressed, sadness was taking over my life. This all stopped when I stopped the shots, it was like i was a new person was reborn after treatment. BUT I want to let you know something that means a lot to me personally. I had no pain with the treatment. It truly felt (for me) that all the hair loss, sadness, over heating was worth it to not have my uterine pain(which was horrible). Oh yes and my period went away completely, until 3 months after stopping treatment. Now being off it for almost 6 months, the pain has returned, but its less, and all the symptoms are gone. In reference to your last question, I did feel palpitations but I can't say if it was direct cause of the treatments or secondary to the anxiety and depression I was feeling during the treatment, but again, for me these negatives were worth it. I hope this helps and I commend you on how brave you are going through so much. I hope things work out well for you and the positives will outweigh the negatives. I'm here if you have more questions. : )
