You can use tomatoes, but sometimes it can cut of there sliminess if the okra is not very slimy one.
Don't add tomatoes please, spoils the taste. Also reduces the sliminess like Charlotte said

thank you but it is a choice sometimes I use it but sometimes I don,t use it.
if you know how to cook your okra well to be slimey then there is no need to use baking soda.
