CTS Turbo Intake Install - 2016 Volkswagen GLI

the wining noise is coming from the diverter valve its a normal thing
There is a piece of rubber that runs from shock tower to shock tower, take it out and you will hear SO MUCH turbo noise. I did it on my stock 1.8 and the difference is night and day.
What did you put on the sensor after you took it off.

If u do a intake do a blow of valve at the same time but jetta blow off valve is was different then all other cars

Stocks. Came on 2015+ sel trim.
Got the mk6 2.5 Jetta with the track exhaust. Ik. Not a gli but I5 sounds decent. I may have seen you drive around cuz I remember hearing a white gli with an exhaust.
So are the cuts absolutely necessary when removing the stock exhaust? And is the installation for this cat back just bolt on? Also how long would you say this install took you

Some of the amateur moves reminded me of my younger self. Thanks for putting a smile on my face. :) I could tell you just by looking at that catback it would be stupid loud and drone crazy on the highway. Did you have it on longer than a week, lol? Why is it so loud? It doesn't have nearly enough muffler to be reasonable. When you choose an aftermarket, straight-through catback for a daily driver, you really want 2 large mufflers with 1 on the tailpipe to cut down on drone, not a tiny single can in the middle. Long pipe with no muffler on the end = bad drone. You also hacked the stock system to pieces, which makes going back to stock needlessly difficult. All it needed was 1 cut between rear and mid muffler on a straight section. That way you could easily go back to stock at any time without needing to weld, just use a band clamp.
He should have gone with the touring edition. much more pleasurable to cruise with.

If anyone is going to do this to their car you don't need to make multiple cuts and whatever you do, do NOT cut where the pipe bends. All you have to do is make one cut on the straight part of the pipe between the two mufflers. That way you can easily reinstall the factory exhaust with a clamp when you want to sell the car. You also might want to wait and attach the tips after the exhaust warms up because it lengthens about an inch when warm. Lastly, you may want to use jack stands and chock the front tires unlike these geniuses.

Did you have a problem with the tube that connects to the engine slipping out of the metal cylinder that's connected to the silicone part of the intake. Mine keeps slipping out? Any suggestions as to what I did wrong

Bradley Snay that's what my problem was, spit on her and it slipped right in😂 appreciate your message. I had a buddy come through and fix it. I felt pretty dumb. I literally watched this video 10 times trying to see what you did that I didn't do 😑. When you literately floor the gas do you hear a high pitch squealing sound btw?
Yeah I do. I've heard mixed things about what that sound actually comes from. Most people say it's from a boost leak in the diverter valve while others say it's just a product of air going through the metal piping on the intake. I've heard putting in an after market diverter valve has made the issue go away.

I love the intake. I'm probably going to to replace the diverter valve with a blow off valve when I do a downpipe. I just haven't had the time to do it. I've heard the high pitched squeal on intakes other than the CTS one. So I don't think it's the intake, it's just what happens with the stock DV I guess. :(
did you weld the new exhaust to the old one or nah??

The intake was about $330 I believe. It was definitely worth it. You get more turbo sound and a much faster spool. Would recommend.
does it drone? cant decide between this or the touring
It does drone a little bit but it's not unbearable. I commuted to and from work on the highway daily with this exhaust and it doesn't bother me at all.

Hi guys I have 2012 gli same style exhaust sound is really good with that but the problems is check engine light on because there is no catalytic so can't pass the emissions.. do u have same problem or ? what is your success about that for my car ? Thanks
crabbymrd Lee now did you get a check engine light? This exhaust doesn’t take away any catalytic converters or any o2 sensors? It’s just a muffler and res delete

do you have to cut your old exhaust to install the new one? or can you bypass that....
Yeah you have to cut it off because the part that goes over the rear axle has a large muffler on either side that won't fit between the axle and the underside of the car. It says in the installation guide that if you cut it at a specific place, you can use a special clamp to reattach the two pieces if you ever wanted to reinstall the stock exhaust.

Did every clamp fit on right?
Husam 18 Every clamp fit right perfectly. The only problem I ran into was with the clamp that sits above the rear suspension. Tightening it down was a little hard because I could barely fit my hand up there. As a result of that, the exhaust started dropping to one side because it wasn't tight enough. It looked really bad. I had to go back underneath and fix it. But I haven't had any problems since! You just have to make sure you tighten it as tightly as possible.

Are you using the adapter that came with the exhaust to connect the midpipe to the catback? It should be a little piece about 8 inches long.

Would this work on my 2013 gli? I'm trying to find a good exhaust and don't want to make a custom mid pipe. Did you have to have it custom made?

Sounds good. Thinking about the AWE track CB myself. Install didn't look so bad (sure chopping was a bit of a pain). Should do another in car/cabin video with the cat back.

cristian Diaz Not sure yet! Thinking about doing lowering springs and spacers first. I will do a DP and stage 2 chip at some point though.
