Приєднався 24 тра 2020
Welcome to Parks Pursuit!
I'm Daniel, and I've long had an affinity for photographing the beautiful places, namely the National Parks, of the United States. I decided to start this UA-cam channel to share some of my experiences in the numerous National Parks and Monuments, State Parks, and other outdoors pursuits I undertake. Be it hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, who knows? Maybe one day I'll take a horse-back ride or a train or sea voyage. You'll have to follow the channel to see!
I upload new content weekly, usually on Thursdays or Fridays!
If you have any questions feel free to email me.

Hiking Devils Ice Box - Rock Bridge Memorial State Park
I saw this show years ago at the New Victory Theatre. It was amazing! I did not understand back then how much time was put into the set installation. It must have taken a few days. Great work! Thank you for sharing this!
this is a great hike I have done it myself,,, amazing stuff along this trail
Thanks! Yeah I enjoyed this trail. I'd love to get back out there. I hit this place up during the tail end of pandemic shut downs so the guided tours of the ruins weren't available. I DID go on one like 20 years ago and remember it being cool and educational. So I'd like to revisit that.
@@parkspursuit7515 I love Mesa Verde,,, the guided tours are amazing,, Me and my daughter did every single one of them we spent 4 days there
I used to live in Alamosa CO,, used to go to the Dunes all the time,,, very cool place
Thanks for watching! I agree, cool place. When I was there the mountain hikes weren't yet open, so I'd like to get back and hit those up as well one day!
@@parkspursuit7515 There is some stuff that is,,well off limits to the general public, off some of those trails,,, there are a few old mines that are really cool to check out,,I got to know the park Geologist Andrew Valdez while I was studying Geology at Adams State,, so I got to see some amazing stuff,,, the sand sheet is an Archaeological Treasure,, there are so many burials and artifacts everywhere,, next time you go look for the trees with big patches of missing bark,,, they are archeological artifacts all in them selves,,, The Great Sand Dunes is an amazing place
I have hiked this trail myself,, did you go check out the old Uranium mines also,,, or was able to eat any of the apples that grown in the campground
I did not check out the uranium mine. That sounds kind of cool but also disconcerting simultaneously lol. I did try an apple though!
@@parkspursuit7515the uranium mines have bars over the entrance but they really cool to go check out they are just south of the campground on the left side of the main road
Thanks for sharing
Of course! I'm glad you enjoyed!
I always enjoy the landscape in Moab. Nice video.
It's truly someone else. So complicated while at the same time kind of simple, if that makes sense. Many of the formations are so smooth compared to other places in Utah like Bryce or Capitol reef. And the rich is so light, if generally feels like the sky is the darkest thing in your shots.
Are the tallgrass bison as tetchy as the Yellowstone bison?
I did end up on a hike there encountering a bison that had stopped mid trail and was just hanging out there. I just hung out as it was in the return trip so I had to keep going in that direction. But I took a lot of video while waiting and there was one time I got a bit spooked as it started to turn towards me and it's tail was getting agitated. I back even further away slowly and continues waiting. Eventually it moved on and when it seemed far enough off trail and passed but I definitely walked diligently as to create a much distance as possible quickly.
@@parkspursuit7515 A narrow escape !
Great video! Oklahoma sure has some beautiful parks and nature trails
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed.
wow beautiful hawk. I may go there this month of May
I hope you enjoy it!
@@parkspursuit7515 I definently will

What is the admission like?
I want to say it was like $10.
I never stopped in the Kansas City area, but now I have to.
It's a great place. If you do I also suggest the World War 1 museum and memorial.
Great video. Thanks for sharing, we are in West Virginia and my son is doing the Junior Ranger Program and he enjoyed this video. We also loved the upbeat music in 3:50 range. Can you tell me what genre that is considered? Thanks so much.
I'm glad you and your son enjoyed the video! I'll have to look into your question. This was one of my first videos and I wasn't posting all of the music credits, ect like I do now. But I'm sure I can dig up the original edit file and identify it, then I'll post it here.
HI! Where are the rests of the western movie The professionals?
There is a small ruin that was used in The Professionals near the start of this trail. Maybe 1/4 mile in.
And what is that? Is It clearly visible?
Hello is there a fee to enter the union station reflection? To take a walk there
The year I went you had to buy tickets so I'm sure that is still the case.
Ok thank you
Very man made looking
Amazing views! Definitely a gorgeous and underrated hike, partly because it isn't technically in any of the national parks, so a lot of people overlook it.
Def a great hike!
Very scenic hike, but some parts look pretty scary.
The exposure never felt particularly terrible to me, but then again I have hiked way more sketch trails! The climb up isn't fire the faint of heart. Figuratively OR literally. It's a pretty unforgiving first 3/4 mile
Nothing Less than expected. Set looks good.
This is a very pretty trail.
It is! I was very fortunate that I missed large crowds hiking it later in the day.
That area of Kansas is so pretty. I love western Kansas.
Yes. I hope my videos let more people see that it's more than what they probably think
@@parkspursuit7515 there is a lot of really cool places out here in Western Kansas and Eastern Colorado
Great history! Thank you for sharing. It has been an inspiration to go see this ourselves!
I'm so glad your enjoyed it! One of my favorite aspects of history is the fact that we're really not THAT far removed from it!
My husband and I were there in 2018 and loved it. I want to go back again.
I need to get there in the warmer months and do some of the hikes that are more up in the adjacent mountains
Why was it owned privately for so long? It doesn't look like anything can be grown there for instance, also they all look like they have water lines.
From my research, it was part of ranch land. I did a little bit of research and it seems that the owner actually probably did the right thing as he turned down offers from groups wanting to turn it into a fossil dig site, an of road vehicle Park, etc. He held out for an offer that would protect the natural beauty of the land
I live close by. That place is part of s huge cattle ranch. Just like monument rocks. If your ever drive out there youll cross over several cattle guards going in and out of the place. A lot of times there will be cattle near by but always make sure to watch where you step for obvious reasons plus Prairie rattlesnakes.
@@parkspursuit7515 I wonder if it's currently used for ranching 🤔 likely not I guess unless there's a grass or water source I can't see in the area
Awesome video man. I’m working in Dodge City right now and thinking about making the drive up there tomorrow!
Thanks! Hope you can make it up that way. There's some other spots in the area like Castle Rock (last time I drive there the dirt road had deteriorated pretty badly but that was a few years ago), Monument rocks, etc.
@@parkspursuit7515 I made it up there and it was amazing. Also went to Monument Rocks, which was even cooler than the badlands, in my opinion, because you can walk right up to them.
The Badlands stretch from North Dakota southward through South Dakota and into northwest Nebraska. The portion in South Dakota is the most well known and dramatic. I like to refer to the Toadstool portion as the Mini-Badlands. If you go there be sure to spend time at nearby Fort Robinson State Park.
North Dakota is subjectively more beautiful because of the vegetation, while Nebraskas is more of a contrast with the buttes in the back ground. The South Dakota badlands are more steep and pointy.
I wish he would’ve told us which trail this is. I’m in Denver headed to Colorado Springs and I’m looking at all trails and there seems to be numerous trails, some that are 5 or 6 miles long. I gave two kids with me and it’s February. Id love to know which loop to follow. But I do appreciate the sneak peaks. Looks amazing. We’re headed there now.
Hey there! Sorry, this was one of my earlier videos and I'm now much better about naming the trail, trail length and even providing the all trails link on my videos. Part of the growing pains I went through starting this! This particular video was *mostly* on the Red Rock Loop trail but I definitely wandered off the beaten path numerous times because I saw something I thought looked neat, you know? Have a great trip!
I look forward to visiting. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! I hope to get down to Black Mesa State Park in the near future as well!
@@parkspursuit7515 there is a bed and breakfast there that I'd like to stay at. I want to see the dinosaur tracks and the trip state monument
Wheres a good place to camp at? Camp Davis? And any recommendations for longer hikes 5+ miles with a view?
I can't answer as to where to camp. I don't camp nearly as much as I used to. A combination of laziness and health complications have my staying in hotels way more than I used to.😕 The trail most probably featured here is chains Charon's garden which I find very unique for the rock formations and scrambling section. But if only like 2.5 miles if I recall... I haven't done the Mount Scott overlook (yet) but I believe it's just over 5 miles and given its name I'm sure it offers a view
Roses under a blanket of snow 🎼🎅
It's a very nice park. So you have to reserve the rose garden like years in advance for weddings in the non winter months
👍 It’s a beautiful video my friend 🎊🎊🎊
👍 Thank you for a wonderful video my new friend 🌹🌹🌹
Cool video! Thx for sharing!👍
Nice footage. Are you starting from the Elephant Hill trailhead, or somewhere else?
I do believe that the Elephant Hill Trailhead is also in that parking area at the end of the windy dirt road... I'm not positive on that though, but looking at the Alltrails they both seem to depart from the same lot.
Great Movie Beautiful Sound I love the detailed explanation
Thanks. It's for sure one of my favorite hikes I've done
Nice video, annoying soundtrack
Awesome video, sir! Thank you.
Thank you! If the subject interests you I suggest you also check out Vivid Crackle's UA-cam page. He used some of my footage on a more narratively detailed video on the sinking of Steamboat Arabia a few months ago.
Amazing. Going in November for the first time
Enjoy! I don't know what is like on November but in Spring when I was there it was WINDY. If you look carefully most of my talking head parts I've hidden myself down in nooks to block it so I could be heard!
I did a "drive-through" visit to this park about 25 years ago. Your video is a reminder that I should go see this place again. Thanks for taking us along on your hike!
It's a very impressive state park. I spent and day and a half there, but would love to spend more time there.
Such an amazing landscape. I'm from Tennessee so Appalachia is all I've really seen besides urban areas, this place looks like another world to me. Thanks for the awesome views!
Thanks! Honestly this particular park is a bit of an alien landscape for Kansas as well.
I've heard of this place but I've never visited or even watched a video. Thanks for taking us along!
Of course! I had known about it, I just do rarely get down New Mexico way. Any time in headed west usually seems to be like Colorado/Utah/Arizona. Poor NM is always just left out.
Thanks for braving all of those ladders to the Alcove House. 🧗♀️
Of course.
Very cool. If I can only see one, which state park is better? Gloss Mountain or Quartz Mountain? Thanks!
I'd say Quartz Mountain. It's a more unique landscape. It's also a bit bigger and there's more to do, more options, etc.
Thanks for sharing! Looks like it was a beautiful day!
Thanks for watching! It was a nice day, albeit pretty windy, even for the Kansas plains.
This place needs to be a national park
I think it could be at the very least a national preserve or monument. I kind of feel like they would need to procure several surrounding areas, some of which are currently on privately owned land, such as Monument Rocks. Though the state park itself was formerly privately owned, so acquiring that land doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility.
Question: gates open at 9. Can you ride bike on loop before 9am gate open to traffic?
So according to the details on the first picture I took on my phone, it was at 7:36 am. When I got there there was already a lot of ppl there. So I imagine I probably parked around 7. And even if my phone decided to be dumb and keep the timestamp at Central time for some unknown reason, that would still mean I parked at 8am EST
Muy bonito
Great video of a beautiful waterfall!
Thanks! It really was a nice little hike. I'd done the bike ride of Cades Cove earlier that day. This was def a nice, laid back hike to finish out the day.
Very nice video. I was reminiscing about this area and looked up a video and found this one. I was stationed at Fort Sill 89-92 and wife and I spent many Saturday or Sunday riding and enjoying this magnificent area. The dam though...surprised me. I dont recall ever seeing it. Where was that by ? Peace be with you
Thanks for the nice words. I'd love to get back soon, there's a lot to explore there. It was pretty boiling hot during my trip, so is like to try a milder month to go. The dam is near the Quanah Parker lake. I'm not super sure. There's a sign, lol!
How much time would you need to see the museum?
2-3 hours should be plenty of time. Maybe a little less if you don't watch the movie. But I suggest doing so, it's very informative.
