We are Rich & Samantha and we are very lucky to own 3 VW camper vans. We will be filming TRAVEL content and some Volkswagen Campervan / UK VANLIFE videos.
The basic idea of the channel is to inspire people to get themselves a campervan and travel to some of the places we have been.
We love it and hope that you do too !
Maybe you want to live in your van or maybe just go away at weekends.
We currently do a bit of both.
Van life is about freedom, exploration and living a simpler life.
WHY DO YOU HAVE 3 VANS ? (that sounds like too many)
We have a video that answer's that very question !
WHAT'S GOING TO BE ON THE CHANNEL ?
#travel videos and #vanlifeuk videos. We aim to cover the UK and Europe, posting town and city tours so you can see where you might want visit (or where not to). If it's CAMPERVAN related, I'm filming it !
Explore with us from the comfort of home !

York is my new favourite place
#vanlifeuk #traveluk #york
Today's van life travel adventure comes from the beautiful city of York in North Yorkshire. We head up there for some cold van camping, some urban exploring and I feast on a whole chicken.
York was picked at random on our last giveaway video and it was a city I had not visited before. It was 6 hours from The New Forest but well worth the drive.

hi ,alot of good advice in your vid, using a pop top in winter are they warm,i think pop tops limitations are high winds and urban camping's you are knowledgeable on vw owning so many which t4 is desirable and swb v lwb, myself im more inclined to have a full width r&r bed and a table to put a camping stove for a simple meal cups of tea ,i see in another vid your 6ft 2 so along with missus maybe the side option is doable as me and wife short houses ,i subscribed awhile ago as my choices of vans were mazda bongo, talbot express smallest van type and not knowing much on vw t4 my brother had 3x t2 all rot boxes so vw i s my last choice but the t4 seems the best vw have done and still plenty around so testimony to them cheers sam
@samfletcher222 I rarely use the pop top in winter. Personally I prefer the swb T4 as I like the van as compact as possible.
For starters i reside in my van and im also homeless, i also dont take the piss and park up on any residential areas, i park up on the industrial estate where i work, its people like you who give the homeless a bad name 😡
@@PaulMurphy-f9q I never take the piss.
Paul Murphy - we pay road tax and can park anywhere that’s legal . His van is a bit stealthy and by parking up late he’s in and out .
@@russellthomas9391 I pay road tax also, your giving the homeless a bad name by parking anywhere that's legal which includes residential, it's the residents that get pissed off not the councils
Hello I like your van arrangement . I'd love to ask of your bed. Did you make it or bought? And if brought who produces such nice seat/ bed? Thank You
@@hanustrog4677 bought the rock and roll bed from a company called streamline auto beds based near Birmingham
Love your videos, I am thinking about buying a van. Did you specifically choose this van for stealth reasons? I was assuming it would be best to get a taller vehicle to be able to stand up
@@rchwha I always liked the look of these vans and liked the VW “scene”. I wanted something under 2m so I could get in car parks with height barriers. Other than that I wanted something that gave me good mileage.
I went there over last weekend and it seems they do NOT like Campervan anymore. Parking explicitly for cars and motorcycles with a mention not to park along the front and elsewhere if you are in a Campervan.
@@GaryBlackall councils seem to be anti campervan at the moment. They forget we are there spending money and helping the local economy
Nicest town in Dorset, nicest people too
The greek art shop owner is well dodgy!
Don’t forget the wonderful St.Barbe Museum and Art Gallery on New Street, just off the High Street. It’s well worth a visit if you’re in Lymington.
You favoured my mates green Caddy Convertible. There was not another 56 Packard Clipper Constellation Coupe that i own, its such a rare car.
Very Very boring
Keep up the good work 👍 once you own a T4 you learn to become a mechanic 😅
Howards Way was filmed in Hamble
Looks really good 👍
This was really good, I very much enjoyed watching it 🙏 Thank you
As with most UK towns it is a shame about the traffic, ugly double yellow lines and awful tarmac pavements. Otherwise a lovely place!
Great video. Nice genuine guy. The New Forest is a fantastic place but every time I've been there I've always stayed on the cheapest site i can find. Some offers for over 60's can be found. I have noticed a few vans tucked away out of sight but it's probably best just to follow the rules otherwise the whole forest would be full of campervans, motorhomes or caravans totally spoiling the place. Good luck with your van life!
Dorchester isn’t the most interesting place to visit, but it’s a good place to live. Opposite of most other places in Dorset lol
You can’t have enough security on your van Rich. I’d highly recommend fitting a kill switch, super cheap and very effective. You absolutely need to get up to Scotland and visit Dumfries and Galloway 🎉
@@vanventuresscotland sounds good 👍
I think you should come to the Forest of Dean. Great place to find Wild Boar! Also near to the Wye Valley if you are into canoeing!
Discovered you via FB! We're waiting our very first campervan soon (Christmas!) so I'm pretty anxious about security. The chain to the chair is a great additional idea. Have you visited Mull? We had 2 brilliant weeks there this Summer! Thanks for sharing N&Nx

Throughout history, human beings have evolved to prioritise stability, community, and the establishment of permanent settlements. The trend of modern "van life," while romanticised as a liberating lifestyle, contradicts millennia of human progress and comes with significant risks and disadvantages. This thesis explores the pitfalls of living in a vehicle, both practical and philosophical, arguing that such a lifestyle is inherently counterproductive when compared to the stability and freedom afforded by settled living. Historical and Evolutionary Perspective The Human Need for Settlements: Human beings have thrived by building communities, developing agriculture, and creating infrastructure to support stable living. Settlements foster safety, cooperation, and resource-sharing. Permanent homes offer a foundation for societal growth and individual well-being. The transient nature of living in a van undermines these principles, isolating individuals from the benefits of established communities. The Desire for Permanence: Across cultures and epochs, humans have sought permanence and predictability in their environments. Nomadic lifestyles, while a part of early human history, often came with precarious living conditions, scarcity of resources, and exposure to dangers. Advancements in Housing: Modern housing epitomises the progress made to ensure comfort, security, and reliability. Opting to live in a vehicle represents a regression from these achievements. Practical Disadvantages of Living in a Van Mechanical Reliability and Breakdowns: Vans, especially older or heavily modified ones, are prone to mechanical failures. Breakdowns can occur in remote or unsafe areas, leaving individuals stranded and at the mercy of unpredictable repair costs and timelines. Limited access to parts or skilled mechanics can exacerbate delays and expenses, creating significant stress. Financial Uncertainty: While often marketed as a cost-effective alternative, van life comes with hidden costs: Regular maintenance and unexpected repairs. Fuel expenses, which fluctuate unpredictably. Insurance costs, often higher for converted vehicles. Over time, these expenses can rival or exceed those of maintaining a modest home. Lack of Comfort and Amenities: Vans are limited in space, making it difficult to maintain a comfortable lifestyle. Amenities like proper heating, cooling, sanitation, and cooking facilities are either absent or substandard. Living in close quarters can lead to physical discomfort and mental strain. Health Risks: Limited access to clean water and proper sanitation increases the risk of illness. Poor ventilation in vehicles can cause respiratory problems, especially if reliant on gas heaters or exposed to mould and dampness. The lack of consistent access to healthcare facilities, particularly when travelling in remote areas, can exacerbate minor health issues. Legal and Regulatory Challenges: Parking restrictions often make finding a safe, legal place to stay overnight difficult. In some areas, local authorities are cracking down on "stealth camping" or living in vehicles, leading to fines and legal complications. Insurance and roadworthiness requirements add additional layers of complexity and expense. Psychological and Social Implications Isolation and Loneliness: Van life often separates individuals from established social networks. Lack of consistent community engagement can lead to feelings of alienation and loneliness. Chronic Stress and Anxiety: The uncertainty of vehicle breakdowns, legal concerns, and financial instability contributes to chronic stress. Constantly needing to move to avoid legal issues or unsafe situations adds to the mental burden. Lack of a Personal Sanctuary: Permanent homes provide a stable, comforting environment that fosters mental well-being. Vans, by contrast, lack permanence and can feel transient and impersonal. Philosophical Counterarguments to the Romanticisation of Van Life False Sense of Freedom: The purported freedom of van life is often undermined by practical realities: Dependence on fuel and access to amenities. The need to constantly plan routes, find parking, and manage limited resources. True freedom comes from financial security and the ability to choose how and where to spend time, not from living in a confined, unreliable space. Freedom Through Settlement: Owning a mortgage-free home provides a secure base from which to explore the world. Financial freedom enables travel to any destination, eliminating the limitations imposed by a vehicle-based lifestyle. Sustainability and Environmental Impact: Vans rely on fossil fuels, contributing to environmental degradation. By contrast, sustainable homes can leverage renewable energy sources and reduce overall ecological footprints. Alternatives to Van Life Financial Freedom and Travel: By prioritising financial independence, individuals can achieve the same sense of exploration without the downsides of van life. Budget-conscious travel allows for global exploration without sacrificing comfort or security. Embracing Hybrid Models: Short-term van travel or renting vehicles for specific trips offers the experience of van life without the long-term commitment and risks. This approach combines the best aspects of van life with the stability of a permanent home. Minimalist Living in Settled Environments: Downsizing to a small, sustainable home offers a minimalist lifestyle with the comforts and security of a permanent residence. This balances the desire for simplicity with the need for stability. Conclusion While van life may offer a romanticised vision of freedom and adventure, the practical realities and risks make it a counterproductive lifestyle choice for long-term living. Humans have historically sought stability and security through settlements, and this approach remains the most viable for fostering well-being, community, and freedom. True freedom arises not from living in an old vehicle but from achieving financial independence and the ability to explore the world from a secure and comfortable base. Van life, with its inherent instability and hidden challenges, undermines this freedom, making it an ill-advised substitute for the stability of a settled home.

@@Outdoor_Swagger very reliable for me but the T4’s are all getting on a bit now. Any 20 year old van is going to have some issues. It really depends on whether or not you need a van you can stand up in. I like the sense of community with my VWs.
