OH My....I can't feel bad about you losing that metal contraption on your line . That is used for, and by water thrashers... not fly rod fishers.....Take the time, tie your fly on the line...it doesn't take that much more time...😝
a little hint here//before you wrap tinsel or peacock Hearl..on to a threaded base...a light coat of head cement ..or clear finger nail polish.. will make the wrap stick to the kook better and not slip while wrapping

I tried my hand fishing here last December with no luck. Im going in September this year if not sooner. Thank you for the tips i think the scud i was throwing was a size 18 so ill try smaller flies this time.
No need for smaller just get it down deep

Works great at Bennett Spring. I watched a guy rake them in using a sinking line strip back . He gave me a couple. His were olive green with a green gold thread body.
You may want to clear the eyelet of glue using a feather. Ron.

A little of both. I use that size sometimes, but mainly I would go with a 12 or 14 size hook.
