Exploration #4 : Balance simulation and First AI
Since last video, I worked on making things visually a bit better, looked into decreasing the number of faces exports by Fusion 360 to work better with Unity's physics engine and...
Worked on my first AI agents that can balance a shape on top of itself. This brings the project closer to the idea I have of the simulations I want to create.

Use a deep knee bend for better skating ...or should you? (Ankle Flexion)
When asking a player to bend his knees for a better a stride, it is critical to know what changes it will bring to his posture as well as his skating mecanics and his capacity to shift his weight. One of the elements that directly affect all aspects is ANKLE FLEXION.
Exploration #3 : Spring movement - UI, friction and some tests
Continuing my exploration of the effects of weight shifts on the blade position and rotation... In order to play with different variables, I need a way to control them. So in the last few days I added a UI and in this video, I show a few scenarios that I will be try to understand more deeply. Using @unity physics to simulate weight shifts and glide on the skate rocker.
Exploration #2 - Model correction, pivot points and first simulation
Continuning the exploration... In the first section, I corrected the way I positionned the axis used for the profile and created the pivots points inside Unity. In the second section, using Unity's physics engine, I move a weight around and look at how the skate blade moves on the ice.
Exploration #1 - Modeling first profile and importing in Unity
I love exploring new concepts. In this video, I use Fusion 360 to model a first blade profile and import it in the Unity game engine. I plan to use this model along with the physics engine of Unity to observe the effects of weight shifts on blade position and rotation. Subtle uncontrolled movements are often causing major roadblocks to execution efficiency, so my goal is to create a virtual env...
Upper body rotation effect on skates
Rotating the upper body, willingly or not has an effect on the center of mass position such that the lower body has to readjust. The capacity of the player to control his upper body rotation and position during any movement sequence will have a direct correlation on his capacity to use his skills before, during and after the sequence.
Hockey - Linear weight shift under blade rocker
In this video, I talk about the relationship between the position of the weight and the position of the skate under the player. How the player controls this will allow him to have more of his skills adn assets avalaible during the movement. If out of control (and this happens all the time), he will need more space, more time or more energy to execute what he needs to do. This compensation slows...
Movement efficiency in Hockey

Since I retired, I've been fascinated with finding the best methods and processes to help other players be more effective and get more results in their game. For several years I've been doing private sessions and it has allowed me to develop my own way to do just that. This is a quick introduction of how I work and some of the components that I look for. In future videos I will go in depth with...
