VHS AF Review - Godzilla vs Megalon (1973)
If you know anything about Godzilla, you know this movie!
Before anyone else points it out, I mention in the video that the movie is from 1976. That was actually the year it debuted in North America, and not when it was originally released in Japanese theaters. I know you came here looking for absolute accuracy in Godzilla knowledge...

Saludos compadre

This was definitely the worst of the prequels. The romance feels so forced and is embarrassing to watch - yet it should be the emotional centre that carries the whole thing. I do get into some of those set pieces too though - in those moments I feel like a 10 year old kid watching it, which is all I really need from Star Wars, I guess.

The book isn't entirely clear about the rules, but is at least PARTIALLY possessed by the original owner who he first buys it from rather than his brother. The original owner is the CHARACTER that the brother is in the movie, dialled up to eleven, while the brother is a mild mannered old highschool English teacher who wants to help, but has been heavily traumatized by his brother over the years. The original owner dies and goes into the car, which he was supposed to have unknowingly but instinctually already infested with whatever "Christine" actually is with the maybe accidental and maybe not sacrifice of his daughter. The guy is implied to have been such a cancerous person that he was basically JUST on this side of being a literal demon himself, so he could kind of sense things, and was a little tougher and stronger than he should've been maybe. And people will see and hear things about him and they'll go "I'm just going to tell myself he didn't mean that the way he said it, I'm going to tell myself he DIDN'T know about the demon he fed his only child to, because I HAVE to believe that." That kind of thing. So he creates a demonic force in the car that later claims his spirit when he dies, not that he at all minds, and then the TWO forces do whatever they do to Arnie in like a spiritual demonic forced rape threesome kind of deal. Also the interior of the car is a timewarp between all eras it's existed within. It always carries every soul it's ever claimed, they constantly shift and change in the back seat, and when you ride along you literally see all those times melt together into nonsense through the windows. There's also a thing the brother says. Now, the car is called a Fury, and it's apparently indestructible. But of course the evil brother was always deeply angry and nothing would ever change that about him. The good brother says "What I remember most about him is his unending fury." And you're left to wonder which of those things he means. Is he referencing both, does it even matter due to them being connected by fate in some way, ect. Also in the book, the car's odometer spins backwards, and rather than simply repairing herself on the fly like the movie, she needs to be rolling to get the benefit. The odometer literally takes back the damage and sends the car to before it occurred physically.

So the general rule of Jason flicks is that if you have sex you die. But dude has a robot, which technically isn't another person. Say he had screwed the robot-- does he still live? Does the future find a way around the Jason/sex problem?

I feel the 2009 reboot gets more hate then it deserves. Imo after Jason X and the franchise going into space and how goofy it was getting I think it benefited from the reboot. Not to say it doesn’t have its flaws though.

I first believed in “movie magic”watching Superman The Movie growing up, Eddie in the movie turning into a Werewolf I call “special effects with movie makeup” back then it all looked real, and NOW it doesn’t look real anymore, now it feels like peanut butter & jelly exploding in the microwave, back then you would feel that is what your body parts looked like once you are killed by a Werewolf, Freddy, Jason, Micheal Myers.

I find 70’s horror to be an awkward phase for horror. As it transitioned from the surreal horror of the 50s/60s and the slasher craze of the 80s

The MGM is based on the 1900 Wonderful Wizard of Oz, where Dorothy actually goes to a real place. When MGM made their movie, they felt audiences of the time could not accept that, so they made it a dream sequence. Also, about three paragraphs into the book, the tornado comes up and takes Dorothy away - no farmhands, Miss Gulch, Prof. Marvel foreshadowing of people in Oz. Baum went on to write 13 sequels, and others were authorized to continue after his death. MGM had purchased the rights to the first book but then Disney bought the rights to all the rest. Walt kept thinking about doing something with this but it took this long - 1985 - to actually do it. They had to step very carefully around the MGM movie copyright issue, although they did spend a ton of money to be allowed to use ruby slippers. (In the book, it was silver slippers but MGM felt the red would "pop" more in color.) In Return, Dorothy has actually gone there but everyone thinks it was a dream (a way to blend the MGM concept with the books). In Return, the Oz characters show up in Kansas as a foreshadowing, the reverse of the MGM movie. The very first book I ever read was my mother's copy of Ozma of Oz. Return is a blend of the first two sequels, Land of Oz and Ozma of Oz. This movie was able to duplicate very accurately the way the characters are illustrated in the original books. Many Oz fans consider this a sort of love letter to the books, even though general audiences were expecting another musical. Jack Pumpkinhead, Mombi the witch (sort of), the deadly desert, the powder of life, and the flying gump are from Land. Floating on the (Kansas) ocean in a chicken coop, Billina, the lunchbox tree, the wheelers, Tik-Tok, the Nome King and his aversion to eggs, and the guessing game in his ornament room comes from Ozma. That Mombi had interchangeable heads comes from merging her with a princess in Ozma.
