Fungi from Yuggoth -Vintage Cosmic Horror Poem Audiobook sleepstory human voice
A cosmic horror poem, presented as a sequence of 36 sonnets. They were written for the most part in about a week around the new year 1929-1930, and published in bits and pieces across several magazines in the following years. Collected for the first time in the short story collection Beyond the Wall of Sleep, published in 1943, several years after Lovecraft's death.
It is written that the poem was inspired by Lovecraft's own dreams.
The sonnets can be read as stand alone poems, or taken to create a set of stories, much like scattered dreams that maintain a weird interconnectedness, when read in sequence. The mythos is strong with this one.
H.P. Lovecraft (1890-1937) is famously known for creating the “Mythos” world of existential horror science fiction, sometimes called cosmic horror, home to the unfathomnable Great Old Ones like Cthulhu, Azathoth, Nyarlathotep and Hastur, with any humans who perceive bits of this reality losing their sanity since they cannot comprehend it.
No background music, by popular demand. Only my voice, croaks, wheezes, and all. Enjoy!

Or, let me read you your bedtime story! If you need some ASMR sleep stories this channel is brimming with compilations, playlists, and podcast playlists.
A note about channel donations:
At this point in my life I do not need nor ask for your money. I do this for the love of the short story and to help promote the enjoyment of science fiction and fantasy literature.
However, if you enjoy my readings and would like to put your money where my mouth is, I would suggest instead to pay it forward to a good cause. Please consider donating to www.gutenberg.org/donate to help them keep up the good work. Project Gutenberg is an organization dedicated to promoting the free distribution of written works in electronic formats. I make no secret that I find the majority of the public domain stories I read here on their website gutenberg.org. There you will find a massive collection of ebooks that are free for anyone to read and download. Most of them are vintage with either lapsed or expired copyrights.
I am not affiliated with Project Gutenberg in any way other than that I use their website.
Now, if you still want to throw a dollar or two at your humble storyteller, feel free to use ko-fi.com/tomtrussel
After all, it’s not as if I’ll say no to money freely given. Any tips I receive will go towards better audio equipment for a cleaner sound in the future, and I will make sure to pay a portion forward to gutenberg.org myself.

The two professors couldn't agree on the fundamentals of child behavior. But that was before they met little Herbux! This Richard E. Lowe is a bit of a mystery. A one shot wonder, or a pseudonym? There does not seem to be any information about this specific author to be found online, or it might simply be a case of the proverbial needle in the haystack of namesake Richards and Lowes. Anyway, th...

A gentle fancy for the Christmas Season-an oft-told tale with a wistful twistful of Something that left the Earth with a wing and a prayer. I like Lovecraft a lot, but I much prefer his prose to his poetry. This isn't by any means bad, but I prefer his stories
Jack London? Book'em Dano
One of the toughest things is narrating a long poem! Great job, Mr T.
Shades of Edgar Allan Poe?😊
Lovecraft. Mmmm😮
Wonderfull selection 🙏🏻🖖🏼
Fantastic job Tom.!! 👍 👍 👍 Thank you so much for everything that you do for us.! Stay safe out there mate & the very best wishes from Scotland 🏴 🙏 ❤️
Ah, Retief, always a pleasure.
adv chem - hilariously creepy
Keep up the awesome vintage and retro stories.
Adv Chemistry ⚗️ ,😅 great character names
I’m amazed at how creative these writers were. This could have been a Twilight Zone episode.
My thought exactly! It is very reminiscent of one, isn't it?
Great stories Mr. Teussel!!
Thank you! I am very happy you enjoyed them :)
Fantastic present at the end of this election year. Thanks!

Oh thank you Tom for a Retief story! Most enjoyable this Saturday morning. The suggestion of the playlist is a excellent one. Maybe I can get my son interested in him. Cheers!
Thank you for your kind words! I am very happy you enjoy the stories and hope you are successful :)
More Retief stories please, Tom!
There are three more in the public domain to go! I should get around to them in good order :)
Awesome story! Q- Woukd you consider creating a Retief playlist, listed in some sort of chronological order? Thanks a million!
Why, I already have one of those: ua-cam.com/play/PLBIwpEG3Nx6CBU8ZXOlJ1Anji23b7yU7R.html I took the opportunity to update the playing order to reflect the suggested reading order.

You and me both! I kept reading it as Derp (!) ;P
Yes, interesting story to start the day with. Having had two children, now in their 30s(37 & 33), I don't know if I should comment. Let's just say a child has two parents. Thanks Tom cheers!
Nothing beats the single minded dedication of a child! :)
🐙💨 WHOO--HOO!! 1st!
Thank you as always Tom.!! 👍 👍 👍
1:13:28 NOT A CREATURE WAS STIRRING
Fantastic job Tom.!! 👍 👍
I really really enjoyed this one Tom.!! 👍 👍 👍
There was some short story I recently listened to. The premise was revealed that humans were seeded in a million planets throughout the galaxy. An anthropological survey from a dominant Earth Human Federation arrived at some planet with humans tending trees arrived to assess this planet. One of the surveyors insisted the inhabitants were putting on a “stage play”. I fell asleep before the plot twist was revealed. I cannot remember the title or author.
I think that might be The Great Illusion by Manly Banister ua-cam.com/video/p8iZOmhTF6o/v-deo.html
And a Merry Christmas from America 🇺🇸!!
Merry Christmas, or as we say here in Norway, God Jul :)
Thank you & a very merry Christmas to you & yours Tom.! Best wishes from Scotland 🏴 🙏 ❤️
Thank you, and a very merry Christmas to you (and your kin) as well :)
Merry Christmas Tom! Merry Christmas Everyone! Thanks Tom!!!!!
And a very merry Christmas to you as well! :)
Story #1: Call Border Patrol and P.E.T.A, we have multiple violations here! Story #2: Wait until he discovers DTs! Story #3: I've always wanted to go to the north pole.... I think I can do without now. I didn't know they got down like that! Story #4: Santa is about to find out what "Under the Bus" looks like! Story #5: Them Ruskies think they're clever, but We Know, Oh WE KNOW!
Trussel originals!

There are as many years between us today in 2024 and the year 1957 than between 1957 and 1890(!) They had not invented bottle caps or zippers yet at that time!
@futurespast-42 don't I know it😲 i am a contemporary of an American. Civil War veteran!!!! I knew a woman whose uncle saw Thomas Jefferson. More distant time travel!I thought she was daft, but i did the math and it worked🙃...also you have a great reading style!
