A friend of mines dad was a friend of Jr Johnsons, we would go visit the shop on Sunday afternoon. Meet Jr and he was a cool guy never put on airs just like being a a friends shop. One day a GM tech was there working on getting the sloped glass in the back of the car and he was asking Jr about us being there. Jr told him he trusted us more than he trusted him. Then told us the beer was free before asking my buddies dad if that's ok.

Great restoration ! (If my memory is correct, i'm almost certain that typical "short track" location of the "off/on & start" switches on the roll bar beside the driver was not allowed in Busch Series or Cup. All switches must be dash mounted. Probably was a mod by a previous owner for maybe their local track). I once owned an ex-Allison built/driven Malibu & his workmanship was impeccable.

I had a 75 Buick skylark up till about 3 years ago same identical body style with a camel hump 327 automatic transmission and a stock rear end great running and sounding little car needed some rust repairs but nothing to bad I'd love to find a plastic model kit of this car but no luck the Chevy's Buicks Pontiacs and olds all were the same body style just cosmetic changes I wish that I hadn't had to sell my Buick but that's life I guess

1986 out of 11 races Tim won 6 and finished 2nd 4 of the others and 3rd in the other one, no one has ever come close to doing that just tells you he was the real deal.

Back when the CAR in NASCAR could actually be associated with what was on the track. I was fortunate enough to grow up while, for a few years still at least, you could walk into the dealership on Monday and buy the street version of the car that won on Sunday. Now they're all stamped, erector sets, that more resemble the space shuttle than a car.

From the pictures it looks like it's a Pontiac with a '65 Ford front suspension. Did they sell that at the Ford or Pontiac dealership?

Never heard of a Buick "Apollo" before and I'm 52. Further research looks to me like it is basically a Nova with a cosmetic change.
