Heard this recording many times. Bob plays beautifully, of course, but he is matched by Stan Getz's tenor.

Brookmeyer made the otherwise obnoxious valve trombone sound like a gift from heaven. I'm a euphoniumist and slide trombone (bass) player, so I appreciate what valves can do -- but Bob's lyricism and inventiveness spoke volumes.

How's he doing the shakes with a slide? I'd like to work on this solo, but I don't understand what's physically happening there.

Nice work! One adjustment I'd make to your notation -- many of your grace notes are actually just swung eighth notes -- there's a great transcription of this solos in a book called "J.J. Johnson - 13 Favorite Solos" with the solos chosen by J.J. -- it is still in print, and will help you notate this solo more correctly. All my best.

It’s in Eb!!!

Slide is certainly in there, but it’s not just him. I’m not familiar with this album, but that is, at minimum, four different trombonists trading off 8 bar solos. More likely eight trombonists taking just one set of 8 bars each. Besides the clear differences in tone and style, you can catch them overlapping when one pushes all the way into the downbeat of the next 8 bars. You can hear it in bars 25, 33, 49, and 57.

Great solo and nice job. There's one minor error in measure 35. The high Ab should have been a G natural. Not trying to nitpick, that's just for anyone watching who might want to learn the solo.

Just so you know, Carl Fontana plays this song in the key of Bb, not F, so the key should, in turn, have 2 flats. Otherwise, nice transcription! Happy practicing (:
