City of Managua, Nicaragua - McNeilus Rear Loader garbage truck (READ DESC)

(I had to re-upload this video due to a UA-cam glitch) Wow, I did not expect this to see this on my first day of vacation. Anyway I filmed this truck today a few hours ago in Managua Nicaragua, I managed to capture this older looking Mcneilus. The truck seen here is an old McNeilus with a Freightliner M2 Cab I believe. Managua uses Both European and American style trucks many other countries do...

Wow, he dumped recycling in the garbage truck again? 😔
A big whoops on the driver, I don’t know why he mixed it again tho..
@@WPOC_REFUSE890 The waste Management company should probably have a talk with him.
those arent cabovers tho
Sorry about that I’ll change it.
Interesting video regarding Vaughan and their traditional manual collection. Just like the good ol' days! NEWS AND NOTES: I understand that the GFL residential contract (west of Yonge St.) comes up for renewal in 2026. I sure hope that the GFL contract is renewed as they are excellent!...... Did you know that prior to amalgamation (1998) the garbage trucks in the "old" City of Toronto were all rear loaders and had an orange garbage body with a yellow/amber cab. The doors on the truck cab had the old "Toronto" insignia/logo with the word "TORONTO" just below it and below that was "Public Works and the Environment". The Blue and Grey box recycling program had already been implemented in Toronto years before amalgamation. If you want to see what those pre-amalgamation City of Toronto garbage trucks looked like, when I was much younger, there was a TV program called "Mighty Machines" that aired on YTV and also Treehouse. Two of the episodes showing the Toronto garbage trucks are uploaded on UA-cam. One is "Picking Up The Garbage" and the other upload is "At the Garbage Dump". This was all filmed in 1994 when all the former cities in Metropolitan Toronto operated their own waste collection operations (e.g. North York, York and Scarborough). At that time, Etobicoke was switching over to private contractors (e.g. BFI). The voiceover/audio in the videos is elementary and hokey but the video itself is VERY INTERESTING if you are interested in Toronto waste collection history. That Toronto garbage truck shown in the videos (3192) is a Fanotech rear loader. I remember back around 1989/90 that Toronto had many Fanotech and also Apollo garbage truck rear loaders. It was really, really interesting watching them doing manual commercial garbage collections along Yonge St. at night and also around St. Clair and Dufferin. The good ol' days! Sorry this got lengthy! -- John
Yes! I have seen the old Toronto garbage trucks, I saw that mighty machines episode on a UA-cam video. Very cool to see, I did not know Fanotech has been manufacturing garbage trucks for that long!
When BFI first came to canada did they still have the “BFI canada” logo up until 2013-2014?
I was on google maps searching on street view and I found a green BFI canada truck. I couldn’t tell the body tho. Looked like an old BFI truck from the states except it said “BFI canada”. BFI canada took some old BFI USA trucks in their Vancouver yard. BFI canada got bought out by progressive waste and “IESI” a company in the states also got bought out. Some of the BFI trucks had stickers under the logo that said “A progressive waste solutions company” and the same with the IESI trucks. Eventually, all the trucks got repainted and where the standard progressive waste solutions trucks.
@@WPOC_REFUSE890 Regarding your question regarding BFI, I am not sure about the very early days, but if you watch that Mighty Machines UA-cam video "At the Garbage Dump", the scene at the transfer station shows a great close-up of a green and white front end loader that reads just "BFI" only on the side and rear. The narrator stated that it was a new paint job. The truck is a McNeilus. If you look carefully at the cab door, you will see the old City of Etobicoke logo so apparently Etobicoke was contracting out some of the solid waste collecting to private contractors at that time back in 1994.
BFI in canada did not have the iconic “BFI CANADA” logo as known in the 2000’s. They were just plain old BFI, In 2009 they rebranded and their trucks were blue with a white stripe going along the body. Very similar to PWS at that time in the states. They had a new logo with the iconic BFI CANADA logo with 2 maple leafs on the left and right side of the text. Heres the BFI Canada truck in action as seen in the video here: m.ua-cam.com/video/ZW6BB2-yDms/v-deo.html

Looks like Vaughn...lots of garbage in that city.
Indeed it is Vaughan, a classic manual collection with yard waste, and recycling
Cool
Awesome video bro
Great catch! You have a video from 3 years ago on your channel with one of these "hybrid" cabover GFL rear loaders doing yard waste. I've seen two of them, 7782 and 7786 that are regularly in my subdivision down here in the former City of York. In addition to yard waste, these trucks also do residential bulk/oversize item collection and (sometimes) overflow recycling collection. The Route Supervisor we now have down here in this area is doing a great job with quite a variety of GFL rear loaders seen. It makes for GREAT garbage truck spotting and watching! -- John
Yes! I did capture this truck 3 years ago, theres a split rear loader version of this truck with a freightliner cabover and a UHE Body.
I wonder when toronto will get some Charagon rear loaders
@@WPOC_REFUSE890 You lost me with UHE. What does that mean?
@@WPOC_REFUSE890 I don't think GFL has any Charagon rear loaders. QUESTION: I wonder whatever became of that small fleet of LEACH rear loaders that GFL had that did commercial collections in Toronto. Does anybody know??? -- John
It’s a garbage truck manufacturing company called UHE, or universal handling equipment.
Awesome video dude
Watching this makes me appreciate the hook lift!
Very cool! Also, can you record another recycling truck video at your building?

Cool, since when did Waste Connections start emptying your building's recycling bins?
Awesome video man
This is my home country, im planning to film these one day lol
Thank you for sharing this part of the world so we can see what methods they use to make it work with what they have (like crushing the plastic bottles with the truck tires) and not only see the same type of videos of North American garbage collection. Enjoy your vacation! 👍🏼
Thanks
Interesting! Very interesting. Looks like they have their own method of doing recycling when it comes to metal cans, plastic jugs, glass bottles, etc.... Wow, that is dirty work and it looks like they're not wearing gloves! I have personally done sorting like that on occasion here in Toronto. Kudos on the video! Your waste collection videos are now truly international. -- John
Awesome video bro
Great job ❤
Cool! I really like that the Mack Granite McNeilus has a gripper tipper
Awesome video
Great video! GFL Environmental is an awesome company and I love seeing all the different types of garbage trucks they have. They now have a large new fleet of new ASL's and rear loaders especially since GFL got the Etobicoke residential contract in 2023. All new trucks are being used in Etobicoke. Many of the older GFL waste collection trucks are still being used in the former City of York and the adjacent North York and I really like seeing those older trucks! As for the newer trucks, I am still getting used to the new 6-digit numbering system GFL is using on the trucks. Of interest, those new rear loaders they have are all single-hopper rear loaders--- not dual compartment rear loaders like many of the older trucks. Maybe they had issues with the dual-compartment packer mechanisms??? All of those new GFL rear loaders are McNeilus. There are no LEACH trucks..... I don't think GFL has those (commercial collection) LEACH rear loaders anymore as I haven't seen one in ages. As for those "714-series" rear loaders seen in your video, we had one in our subdivision yesterday doing the green bins but I can't remember which truck it was. I'm still getting used to seeing the new numbering system. If you like GFL truck spotting on the streets, now that Etobicoke is GFL, on a typical Friday that is grey (garbage) bin, yard waste, etc..., EVERYTHING south of Wilson Av. from Dufferin St. clear out to Kipling is the same (i.e. grey bin, yard waste, etc...), and west of Kipling westward is the opposite (i.e. Blue Bin recycling). The bin set out along the streets literally goes on forever and is a GFL truck spotting bonanza! GFL does a remarkable job with all of that territory and I wonder how they can service such a HUGE area all in one day! GFL rocks! Sorry so lengthy!
no idea why the Mack LEU with McNeilus Autoreach ASLs have never really been seen on the roads despite them not being CNG trucks
If I may reply to your Comment.... The MACK LEU's (i.e. 8272 to 8277) are CNG trucks. As for spotting them, it depends on where you are at in the GTA. They are seen in the former City of York, Weston and the adjacent North York. Whenever a MACK LEU ASL is in our subdivision, they are usually emptying the Green Bins.
@@johnwoa i meant the diesel McNeilus Autoreach ones i.e. 8115 & 8117 not the CNG Automizer ones
@@charlieholman5967 Yes! I remember those--- we had 8112 on my street on a regular basis but that was MANY years ago and I had totally forgotten about those trucks (e.g. 8112, 8117...)! I wonder if GFL still has those trucks here in Toronto. They might have been moved to another region or maybe even to the U.S.. Thanks for jogging my memory! -- John
@@johnwoa(update) They still have them at the yard, but they have been parked siting there for a long time. The McNeilus autoreach ASL’s trucks might be no longer in service.
@@WPOC_REFUSE890 Interesting! I always look at the GFL truck numbers in my subdivision on waste collection day. It's quite interesting as there are many different GFL trucks that are down here in York/Weston/North York. The Etobicoke GFL contract has ALL NEW trucks and we still have many of the older trucks where I live, but that's okay as I particularly love watching the older GFL rear loaders. -- John
Great to see you back making videos again! I saw your new GFL video and will check it out again. I have cool updated info regarding GFL if you are interested. I'll comment on your GFL video later on.
