Rest in Peace two Giant Generals of the Salvation Army
Watching this again as I just can't help it. I live a long way from a corps now but go to sleep every night listening to the ISS cd's, Gowans Legacy. Do you realise that right through John Gowans songs is the idea of God's love for us, no matter how far away we go from Him He loves us and will welcome us back. We were all blessed to have had this talent in The Salvation Army and God brought them together for a purpose, to bring people to Christ. Oh that we could see their like again and have a spiritual revival.
Programme Note (from score notes - samusicindex) Composed by Emil Soderstrom, of Chicago, this piece gets its title from the Army tune introduced - ‘The Coronation Day’. The words of the chorus introduced are: Rejoice and sing, for Christ our King Is coming back again; His name adore for evermore, His majesty proclaim. Then every knee shall bow to Him, And homage to Him pay. King over all we’ll crown our Savior On the great Coronation Day. Words and music - Alex Grieg, The Musical Salvationist, June, 1902 and Gems for Songsters #1). March ‘Coronation’ - General Series #1121, March 1937, performed by the Johannesburg City Corps Band, B/M Francis Rawbone.
Which band is this? Who was the Bandmaster? Please include credits.
Whoever the bandmaster is he got the tempo right, and a few other things too, it's too often made to sound like a Tom & Jerry soundtrack. It wouldn't surprise me to find out it was Leidzen himself.
