Hello. Great video. The last shot of the gauge on the guitar neck confuses me. Is it for display only? Should the gauge pin sit atop one of the frets if you are taking an actual measurement?

Your measurements will be off, because the dial gauge plunger is not in direct line with the ends of the tool. When you zero the tool to start, the plunger will be at the same level as the two ends. But when the two ends are resting on the centre of the frets, the plunger will be resting a little further over on the center fret - and the radius of that fret means the plunger is lower in relation. So you are actually measuring the relief plus the amount that the fret radius allows the plunger to drop from zero.

You did a good job. You saved that old trunk from the trash man…
