The trail through this newer nature preserve can be walked as a 1.1-mile loop. 4600 W. Kilgore Ave, Muncie, IN. This 31-acre property was once the Ernst Nursery and Ruth Dutro was a beloved local Biology teacher. This adjoins a large industrial brownfield to the west where the BorgWarner automotive transmissions Muncie was famous for were made. #nature #hike #preserve

When there is too little snow to go elsewhere or I don't want to drive anywhere, there are always my backyard trails. The trails have to be passable for my lawn tractor and wagon for hauling firewood so they are smooth and kept mowed. Unretouched stills from my phone versus my Superzoom camera. I tried to get the same shots with each. I was in search of the last of the fluorescent reds that the Maples had been displaying. Neither camera seems to capture the intensity of that deep bright scarlet as seen by the eye, some of that intense scarlet shows as white. No filters were used but perhaps a daylight (yellowish) or polarize...

Canoeing with Labor Day guests. I rarely have two cars for setup so the bike stayed home. We went from Briar Patch to the second Skookum access via Pine River Rd. We planned on stopping at Coe Creek but apparently so had a huge multi-family group that soon overtook us. I have one shot of a few stragglers but there were about thirty in that group. #paddling #PineRiver #kayak
