Hi, I am Alex and live with Cerebral Palsy (CP). It affects my fine and gross motor skills. I use a wheelchair, an adapted bike and a walker for mobility.
I’ve had many surgeries including many leg surgeries, hand surgery, eye surgeries, to help my body work better. My left hand works better because of the surgery on it. My eyes are in better alignment now after having surgeries as I did have crossed eyes or strabismus when I was born. I think the surgeries were worth it because now I can use a walker to walk.
I have spastic cerebral palsy which means my muscles tend to be stiff so I do a lot of physiotherapy including stretching and strengthening to help my body stay limber and strong. I think exercising is important for everyone but especially for people with cerebral palsy.
I am a very active person. I’ve listed a few exercises on my website that I do everyday to help my body. You are welcome to try them too. I think it is important and can be fun to workout.

Last Friday I went to an art exhibition and really enjoyed the presentation by Lionel Migrino - here he is with me! The exhibit was called Limitless: The Disabled World. Lionel is an amazing photographer and captures stories of people with disabilities. It is being held at the CScape Marda Loop building - on until November 18. Check it out!

I was asked to demonstrate the Trexo Robotic Walking Device at MRU. I told them how the trexo helps me with knee pain, vertigo and overall fitness. It was so much fun explaining my journey to the other students. I was even able to get my steps in afterwards! #alexscoopfitness

Since I was really little, I’ve been able to borrow adapted bikes from CP Kids & Families Adapted Bike Program. I’m currently riding my 6th bike. It has been awesome to borrow these bikes instead of buying them. I love my pink trike - named Gwen Stefani! #alexscoopfitness
