First I'd recommend to get a digital drawing tablet (with screen or without), and to learn the basics of it you can watch videos as there is a ton of them and trust me, you'll slowly see the progress you've made. I used to draw on paper as well, then 1 year ago I switched to digital art only because I was curious, but now I love it more than the traditional one! A free program to start with and I use it as well, is Krita (similar to Photoshop but with less features I'd say). Have fun!

As @cattynip said, a drawing tablet would be perfect if you can get your hands on one. It doesn't have to be an apple iPad either, a much cheaper amazon fire hd would do the trick, or even if you have a few extra dollars getting a S6 lite would be perfect, and I'd suggest ibis Paint X or krita (both free). Krita is a much more powerful software though so maybe Ibis Paint X might be a little easier for beginners as it has much less of a learning curve imo. Another alternative to that is if you have more $$$ and a computer you could look at getting photoshop and a Wacom or Huion device. I have both screen tablets and drawing tablets and both are amazing and both brands have plenty of options with sizes. As far as teaching programs there are so many videos online, especially on UA-cam.
