I really can't recommend Volume Buddy enough for Ableton Live users! It automatically gain matches it's output to the start of the chain, eliminating this problem for any FX you decide to slap between 🔥

A tip for applying compression: When starting out, slowly turn each knob all the way up to max. Get familiar with how "too much" of an effect (or knob) sounds, and then back it off till it's barely noticable. That way you know what "too high of a ratio" (an overly compressed sound) sounds like and can recognize it. Do it with all the knobs. Too fast of an attack, too slow of an attack. Do it with vocals. Do it with full mixes.

I'd like to hear some examples of tweaking delay parameters. Like, taking out the low end, because low end tends to wobble and muddle bass so you rarely (but occasionally!) want low end to repeat.
