I'm nothing more than a cycling enthusiast who enjoys trying new things.
2024 Hincapie Gran Fondo-Greenville, SC
This is a long one. Mainly due to filming almost 40 minutes of the first lap. Time stamps below.
This was the 2024 Hincapie Gran Fondo in Greenville, SC. The weather was pretty much perfect this year for the altered course due to the flooding. They did an excellent job of quickly coming up with a suitable route to make the Fondo a reality this year. It ended up being a big fundraising effort for nearby Polk County, NC which is a county the Fondo usually goes through. I actually enjoyed the figure 8 route because you got to see so many people along the way. You were constantly passing riders going to opposite direction so that was cool to see everyone. Don't get me wrong, I love the Gran route.....but for this year it was suitable for what had happened about 3 weeks earlier and we were fortunate to have it.

I purchased this frameset the day it went live. I had watched a few influencer videos that were given frames and was curious as to the real world weight. They all had size large frames I believe. I have yet to see someone who actually purchased a frameset so that's where I slot it. I purchased a size medium and it came in completely bare at 720 grams. I was impressed. They advertise it as 699 g...

I have wanted to do this for a while, but it has conflicted with another race. I’m getting older so it was time to break the tradition. US129 had a repaving project that literally got done the day before the ride so it was incredible. I would say this ride is as difficult as you want to make it. Nothing really steep, but LONG stretches of climbing that add up. Excellent ride and organization wi...

First Road Race of the 2024 season and it was in my back yard. Just a little over 14 mile bike ride from the house so you can't beat that. Race was pretty uneventful so I kept the video pretty short. Not a lot to show really. Hopefully the first of many videos for the 2024 season.

This bar combines the weight of my Specialized Alpinist SL integrated bars with the "aero" benefits of my Black Inc. Integrated Handlebar. I plan to put these on my Aethos for a little bit of aero benefit with low weight. I realize this goes against all things Aethos, but...

HOT, HOT, HOT day in the mountains. The profile of this course didn't do the difficulty justice. Although the course profile looked fairly straightforward and all "downhill" from mile 51 or so......yeah that wasn't the case. Lots and lots of short stingers on this course that added up over time. Ready to do it again.

Nice video, watched the entire thing. Suggestion, add speed and other metrics overlay. Thx
Thanks for the feedback and for watching. It was a great weekend. I should have sped up the riding portion for sure. As far as metrics are concerned I'm not sure how to add that stuff in there. I need to do some research. Thanks again.
watching the front group ride away - See, I don't have to go to some fancy grand fondo with world tour riders to get that experience. I get to have that right here at home. 🤣 Enjoyed that vid.
But there is no food waiting for us at the end of a Lewisville ride.....
Cool vid Bro
Thanks for taking the time to watch some of it.
Shi, I can't find anywhere about sizing. I'm 5ft 9, I'm thinking a size medium also,, do you have a view?
I'm going to post a review in the next couple of weeks. Here is the link....www.winspace.cc/product/slc3-frameset/?v=7516fd43adaa. Scroll to the bottom for the sizing. I have ridden a lot of bikes over the years and this one is pretty outstanding overall. It is without a doubt the smoothest bike I have ever ridden, but not in a bad way....if that makes sense. So far I have over 900 miles on it. I'm 5'7" for reference.
Any long term thoughts now that it’s been a few months? I’m considering getting them
To be honest, I haven’t ridden them in a while. I put them on my gravel bike and rode the bike on asphalt only for quite a while. I don’t find them flexy or uncomfortable as I’m a smaller rider. When I was getting ready to ride gravel I emailed the company and they said they wouldn’t recommend these for gravel so I took them off and haven’t put them back on. The only negative I would say is that I would use a standard top cap as theirs looks to be 3D printed and would break easier than and standard one. I big deal really. I rode it with their top cap without issue, but next time I will use a standard cap. Hope this helps.
is the dropped right chain state on the Speica and the Toscano??
It's only dropped on the Toscano. Mine was experimental at the time and it didn't have a name. That's why my top tube says Spezia. I think they were just going to call it a Spezia Gravel, but they obviously changed their mind. Thanks for the question. It's a great bike.
@@cat4garage wow that’s an amazing bike man thank you for getting back to me
i was planning on buying a sworks crux but i want something that’s going to last! you said its better then your crux? makes sense because it’s a lot more durable. I want something that’s gonna last 20 years not crack when I crash it. so do you have the specia with gravel tires what’s the clearance and what is the weight of your bike?
nvm on the weight! i see now
I crashed mine over a cyclocross weekend last year about 4 times and it survived so I didn't really want to test it that way, but.......It was a bad weekend. I would not have wanted to crash the crux like that. The crux was awesome, hence the reason I had this one custom built with Crux geometry. Hope this helps.
No notification this time!! Interesting effects in editing. (or post as "they" say)
this bike have huge possibility. use item on the list will cut more gram. avian canary bar 248gram. light weight compression plug 18gram. titanium top tube plug 8gram. change all bolt with titanium probably will save another 90-100gram in total
I'm doing the same build. Same color, same size with hyper 3 d45 Please tell me how did you go with the h240 handlebar, I'm undecided to get them or not.
Also thanks for the video
The handlebar I got was a 38 x 115. It seems super nice. I am up in the air whether to use the Avian Canary or the Winspace. The Winspace has more of a forward sweep that I like which is comparable to my Vision Metron's. The Avian weighs 242 which is awesome, but the tops are less deep by about 1/2" than the Winspace version. The extra depth is nice. I will likely eat the 100g weight "penalty" and go with the Winspace bars. Curious to see your build when complete. I am putting SRAM Red AXS (mostly first gen, I bought the new shifters and brakes) on mine.
Can't wait for it to arrive, still about 3 weeks away. I'm building it with r9270 .May upgrade to some kind of Chinese carbon power crank down the track.
waht is the height od the stem at the fork ?
Still liking your Litespeed?
Yes, very much so. It handle a couple of CX race crashes like a champ. The extra 1 lb of frame weight over my crux is worth it to me in terms of durability. When it's in road mode I actually prefer the climbing feel over my aero bike, but you do give up a little on fast sections. Realistically not much though. I had some 38 wide handlebars and Zipp 404's on there and it rolls really good.
Has anyone had any issue with shipping? I’ve been waiting for almost a month and fedex tracker they gave me is wrong.
The thumb doesn't sparkle when I "SMASH" your Like button! What up wiff dat?
How are they holding up?
So far so good. I actually haven't ridden them on gravel yet, but have used the climbing and for fast group rides and I can tell no difference from the Alpinist bar. I really like the flat(er) tops on these.
@@cat4garage appreciate the feedback sir!
Have you already installed it on Aethos?
Lookin great out there!
Supposedly it feels super soft and flexy
That's what I have heard, but is that such a bad thing depending on use? Not sure. I am going to be putting it on my gravel bike in the next couple of weeks. In that scenario flexible could be comfortable. We shall see.
@@cat4garage Agreed, for casual gravel use it might work fine.
@@stanzapalny2123 Well, I put them on the gravel bike today and did a 35 miler with them on the road. I had Specialized Alpinist integrated bars (42cm and 251 grams) on it before and swapped to this 38mm. I like how narrow these are and I could honestly not tell any discernible flex difference at all. I tried sprinting in the drops and the hoods, no difference to me whatsoever. Granted, I am a lighter rider, but I think the concerns with these bars to the public could be the same problem with lots of cycling things. People that "hear" things or read "concerns" criticize products openly without ever actually trying them themselves. There are a lot of armchair product experts out there who have never put a hand on the things they criticize. Hope this helps. They aren't coming any time soon.
Yeah, sorry about that car. We did our best but this is still an open road at a local race with not many volunteers, keep your head up! The intent was to close it for finishers between the lead and follow vehicles but there were too many big gaps between groups in some fields, the sheriff would think everyone was through and he'd move out of the lane to let cars by.
Extra Pickles Please!
This is a nice looking set of bars! The weight is *very impressive! #RobbArmstrong
where did you bought it? thanks
Actually bought them off Ebay from a guy who purchased them and didn't use them on his build. I got lucky.
Just get it off panda podium
Gear unboxing! Interesting, nice transitions. Riveting music too.
AWESOME presentation
Thank you and thanks for watching
Another extremely short wheel based bike? For little short people I guess?
I actually custom ordered this one from Litespeed with geometry to match a 2022 Specialized Crux I rode for a year. I sold that frameset to get this one. It was a size 52, but the geometry more matches a size 54. I'm 5'7", so yeah.....I'm not real tall, but guess who was always yelling at me to pass them the ball while I was bringing the ball up the court??? Tall people who couldn't dribble..
Will you do a ride review/impressions video?
I need to do that. Just haven't really gotten to the point where I want to be on video. 😀If you have specific questions you can ask me. I can say without hesitation that it does offer an overall smoother ride than the 2022 Crux. I copied the geometry of the Crux so it was familiar feeling. The geometry is fairly aggressive so this particular one is not setup for cruising. I'm 5'7" 135lbs kitted out. I don't put a lot of stress on bikes so to me it's plenty responsive enough without "lag" or feeling mushy. Take from that what you want, but if I was offered to straight up trade for an SWorks Crux I would keep this one. Ironically, one reason that I decided to swap from the crux to the Litespeed was durability. That came into play 2 weeks ago when I had a horrible weekend of racing cross. Wrecked 5 times over 2 days of racing and the bike hit the ground 4 times of those 5. It wasn't an easy weekend on equipment and the LS was none worse the wear. I always worried about the Crux durability and luckily I didn't have to find out the limits. Hope this helps.
I love this bike!
Thank you. It really is an outstanding bike. I put it to the test a couple of weeks ago and had a crash filled weekend during cyclocross. It was almost comical. The frame held up. That is exactly why I swapped from the Crux to the ti frame. Honestly not sure if the Crux would have survived that weekend intact. Thanks for watching.
Why did you choose Cane Creek 40 over the 110?
For some reason I decided to cheap out and get the 40. I have had no issues with the 40, but in hindsight I should have just gotten the 110.
Will litespeed go to internal cabling????
On the Spezia they now have an Internal cable option. It is called the FI (Fully Integrated). It used a Specific Enve Fork and Stem. Hope that helps.

Cool design choices. What led you to choose Litespeed over other Ti builders? Have a web page with frame & build details?
I used to live in Chattanooga so I have a soft spot for Litespeed. That being said, I just really appreciate what they can do with manipulating tubing so it's not just round. The top "tube" on this frame starts as a flat sheet of 6/4 ti. Then it is formed into a tube and seam welded on the bottom. Doing things like this means that you can really dial in the ride qualities you are after. I have toured the factory before and it is cool to see how they actually produce all the individual parts. It is an impressive facility. I don't currently have an operational web page, but I may soon so I could post up there if I get it back up and running. Thanks,
Also, build list starts at 0:44.

Breaking barriers, good! Problem is, I was halfway through this when I realized it was not stage 3 in Spain! Helos grounded, in very clearly VFR conditions??
Nicely presented (move over Phil G!) and congrats on the great finish. Entirely too much fun for one bike ride. I prefer to keep my bike fun limited to smaller chunks at any one time...
Right on!
Bold Intro! Aggressive too. Views are up, possibly on the way to viral status? Was that a Subaru product placement at 1:53?
Not sure I'm ready for this! I just cycle around Lewisville.
It is a challenging climb for sure. Just take it in small chunks and at your pace and you will be fine.
Great video and Congratulations 👍 I had the dubious honor of being the last to pass through the time cut!! This was for me a brutal ride with a rear tire that kept deflating. I want to say thank the guys who gave me a couple of CO2s to help keep me going through the last 45 miles. I found the last couple of climbs too much with low to no pressure and ended up walking part of them. Got my Beer though👍 Anyone think of doing this ride needs to seriously hone their single track skills and plan on shit happening all day-and Drink Drink Drink.
Thanks for watching. Hey, at least you made the time cut. I can say that it was probably a brutal ride for most, no matter what your conditioning. Congrats on the finish.
Hey thanks for video! Great job out there it was definitely a tough course. I was in front of you going through the single track. 😂 We were real close all day. But I was solo a lot. I went through a dark spell myself but thankfully came back around.
I really enjoyed that singletrack. I didn't read the race bible thoroughly so everything was a surprise. Ignorance is bliss sometimes, especially this time. I don't believe I would have like to have known what was coming a lot of the times. Great ride. Probably the short one for me next year.
