Last Year due to Covid and some other crazy stuff I wasnt Skydiving much. On 7/19/2021, I was invited to go sailing and Bam I was hooked!
So naturally I decided to buy a sailboat on a budget and see what happens.
I plan on doing some amazing trips with her (SV Artemis) however, I have some work to do first- Lots of work!
So join me my family and some amazing people I have met in my travles restore and sail her-god knows where.

It seems to me like 15W40 is a very heavy oil to use for the short duration runs in and out of marinas in the Caribbean much less the Hudson river in NYS. Diesels run cool and marine diesels run even cooler since they're not under any particularly heavy load, they take forever for the oil to get hot. The heavy weight oil puts a strain on your starter and battery and the thick oil doesn't get through all the galleries as quickly at startup. Given all that, the engine is operating in a severe service environment since it never gets hot enough to burn off condensation and it's apt to build sludge deposits. If this sounds familiar I'd strongly recommend changing the oil and filter at the end of the season, fresh oil over the winter months. Just my two cents.

@@Sailing.Artemis absolutely Sailing Artemis, as a resident and native of this area, I cannot express how appreciative and grateful I am to you and the company that you work for or if you’re self-employed, whichever the case may be for really going above and beyond and caring so much about the region and the devastation that we all have experienced. I am very fortunate, as I am about a 30 to 45 minute drive south of Asheville, so the devastation that I experienced was on a much smaller scale than that of the actual mountain communities; however, it was absolutely insane sitting in my loft that morning. I have two rescue dogs and I remember about 7 AM or so thinking OK the rain has finally slowed down enough for me to throw on a rain coat and run outside and let them go to the bathroom, but the wind had picked up so hard by that time that you could hear the trees cracking, breaking, and if they were big enough, they look like they were just gonna blow straight over. I lived through Hugo when it made the sharp turn and came in to the upstate and it was a category four when it hit landfall in Charleston and I don’t remember it being like this. Regardless, again I just want to express my appreciation and gratitudeas it is evident that you care deeply about not only the people in this region, but all Americans.

Nope all the water & all the mud & all the dried mud have toxins that are killing the animals & are expected to cause cancers & other serious illnesses & death. Cadaver dogs have died & are dying. A years worth of water fell in 2 hours. Lithium & other toxins leached out of the ground plus sewage plus hazardous chemicals from vehicles. At least one person has come down with radiation. It is a remediation biohazard ☣️ serious sitrep. On a positive note someone has figured out a bio remediation of natural plants & creatures that can save Appalachia. Hazardous chemicals contaminating everything. Lithium Graphene etc. What’s in the ground is worth billions of dollars to mining corporations. They wanted to expand the mines. The people pushed back & didn’t want the expansion. Weaponized weather took away their choice. If it all becomes a superfund sight they all lose their land. Diabolical. 1000s are dead 1000s still missing. They ran out of body bags. The truth of what happened needs to get out. FOIA requests have already revealed the black projects weather weapons.
Oh poop that all sucks so bad. I feel so sad for all those folks. Remember if you find a family that needs to get out I am happy to welcome a family until that mess gets cleaned up if that's even possible 😢

I’m surprised you didn’t use a. Moisture Meter to check the rudder from to bottom, the check the hull for moisture, and to check the entire deck and coachhouse roof for moisture. A replacement or rebuild to a rudder is $7,000 and wet deck repairs are $1,000 per square foot. You did not give estimate to replace compression post mast stud, which has rotted. You did not seem to examine the rigging or chain plates. Seems a very cursory examination. I would have paid a licensed Marine Surveyor who used a moisture meter and who provided a written report and current actual market value based on its actual condition to see whether I wanted to purchase the boat, and to negotiate the price I would offer. I would also get a marine mechanic to evaluate the condition of the engine, including compression test for each cylinder and the output amps of the alternator.
