I Bought a Twin Turbo V8 Sleeper for $15k....Now what
Looking to start my e550 build does anyone know any good resources( this channel too ofc) also wheel plug?
I feel you when ever my diesel truck drives near a fuel stop it goes into heat….
Wish that was my worry 😂
Love those rims man! Beautiful W212
Thanks dude! Appreciate it!
Your w212 looks great I have e350 sport. I live in ny the roads suck. I wanted to know what was the tire setup that you ended up with ? THANKS !
19x9.5 rear id go 285/30 and 19x8.5 front id go 255/35 This is the largest you can go with non AMG cars and therefore the largest sidewall on a 19” wheel
Plan on getting one within the month. I will need this information.
LOL...Yes when you have Xentry this is ok. But oh man. ...This is soo... Yes you got your cklicks.
….huh
with your experience..the v8 without turbo are better to buy?? less costs envolved?
Yes. M273 is a treat to own and maintain
E250CDI 4matic wagon with rear air suspension here. I'd love to know more about my car, but alas...
Well, aside from the specifics of your engine it’s all the same! Haha
Did it come V8 or you put that engine in there ?
Haha it’s a 550 it came with one!
@ 🔥 can’t go wrong with that
@christiansampson452 this engine you certainly can and I have- check the rest of my channel haha
And the W212 is supposed to be the most reliable E series class!!!! I would hate to see the problems with the worst chassis series.
Hmmm it’s really an engine reliability issue. I didn’t mention any other real major issues (subframe covered, and is still a fixable issue, all brands have air suspension issues etc) the chassis is solid. At 160k miles the biggest chassis issue I have? Wheel bearings. And that’s kinda predictable with this many miles with a heavy engine. Front end suspension worn out and needs to be refreshed. This in a normal m272 v6 e350 easily goes 200k without much fuss. Diesels are regularly hitting 500k - see them all the time in our group! Choose a good engine and this platform will love you
Where can I get the software to do coding?
DM me on instagram I’ll point you in the right direction! @KoreanSeats
Is that the M276?
No, it’s m278. This is a similar issue the 276 has as well
atp.. you just bought a problem lol!
I stg bro 😂
What's with the quad fog lights on the 2010 models? I like the ones you have better!

Crazy nice looking rims, best ever i see, what are dimensions and where can we get them :)
I've got a 2012 e550 coupe can you do the same
I can get you connected and hooked up. DM on IG @Koreanseats
Ok but how do I unlock these features?
I had a guy do it. Some things are simpler than others, but a lot of this requires very intricate knowledge of the coding in these vehicles. Not something I would try, even as a serial tinkerer. DM me on Instagram @KoreanSeats and I can point you in the right direction either way

I like your review. Very hones! Very bad car
I hated every second.
Hey @mrapter7 Sounds beautiful. I just got 2015 E550, do you think any downsides us doing this for the engine or it should be fine.
Doing what? Straight pipe? Straight pipe if anything helps a turbo engine. Doesn’t need back pressure, it needs airflow
USA??? USA didn't have E550's in 2015.
Canada does. Also grey market imports
@@mrapter7 Got it!
I agree with the coupe look comments.
I just picked up an2010 E350 coupe. I want a 16 cabriolet but I got a real good deal. and low miles. this video made me feel better about the engine.😊
i wanted to listen to you but that sick background noise made me left
Damn! Only the intro which was a little loud 😂

I have a 2010 e550 4matic 106k miles and never had a bit of trouble. Nothing Nadda.
Completely different engine. This is why.
@@mrapter7 what engine you have?
ok you have turbo. In any event my first comment stands.
@jonjones6749 it’s in the video but m278
Everyone who has a m273 tells me they wish they would got the m278 😂
This is why you try to spend the extra money for a 40-60 miles car right off the rip. Luxury mechanics always say, never buy one after 100k. My boss is this Russian guy with two G Wagons and a collection of old black Mercedes. He was firm about telling me to avoid a turbo for this exact reason. Fun fact.. for some reason the Russian guys like me so I call myself “the machine” 😂. If you want to tune an old car and put the pedal to it, that’s understandable but things will break. Like they say, gotta pay the cost to be the boss. Makes you feel better, I’m on my third porsche and they’re even worse. I’ve never had a repair don’t that was under $2k. I bought an old 911 once and spent $12k just doing a bunch of maintenance and repairs to make it daily roadworthy.
Yeah the engine choice has a lot to do with it. There are plenty of options that would be a great buy over 100k. Even though mine was maintained at the dealer, there are things that just cause death in these engines that are unavoidable. I wish I knew as much as I know now when I bought it. Oh well, a very expensive lesson
Is a 2013 biturbo v8 E550 worth buying? 130k miles on it? No lights on dash price on it is 7500.
LOL no bro walk. You feel like dumping 20k into a rebuilt or 30k into a new engine swap? Go for it. Watch my other videos this is a common thread within all early m278 engines. 130k-150k is when they fail lol
@@mrapter7 how about the e350 bro?
@yoknowkyoknow9935 up till 2011 has a basically bulletproof m272 but lower power. Won’t really give you issues. 12+ has the m276. Direct injection, more power but some issues post 100k. Nothing you can’t fix and get done. Maybe 2-3k of work the first year after 100k. The 2015+ got a lot better in terms of engine design. It’s the same engine just revised. I personally wouldn’t have a problem buying any of the E350. However, if I wanted one as a cheap daily that I really didn’t have to worry about I would probably go pre-facelift with m272
appreciate your insight! i just purchased a 2016 e350 and i love it
Congrats! Thanks for watching!
Man I want a Mercedes e550 I wish someone would point me toward a budget friendly Mercedes that is nice and reliable and can be fixed for cheap under 1k repairs 😂 but man I'd love to own a Mercedes but 1 that doesn't need serious maintenance every year maybe every 2-3 years 😂 I know a 08 328i BMW N52 is reliable and mostly easy to work on and cheap to fix if you do the work mostly yourself and save big things for mechanics but some parts a Lil pricy but that the price u pay when u driving somthing nice and made to perform good I don't mind I'm not wealthy at all but don't mind the car having to have down time to save up for repairs but I'd love to own either a BMW or Mercedes if someone knows the most reliable ones that don't have serious issues leaking valve covers is common but not a big deal to be fixed but my mechanic unfortunately will not touch BMW or Mercedes 😂
No such thing as a nice car that doesn’t need maintenance every year.
Have you unplugged your oil pressure solenoid? I did on both my M278s. Pressure now rises linearly with RPM.
Yessir! Will be doing a long term review of this. Been about 6 months and 8k miles
Honda accords ain’t cheap 😂. They cost just as much to work on.
A 2013 accord is most definitely easier and cheaper to work on and maintain. Wheel bearings don’t cost $150 a pop and it doesn’t require an engine out for engine mounts. And if it does need an engine out or swap, some guy can probably do it for a couple grand and a 12 pack.
Can I make my bluetec sound this good? 🙈
Lmaooo you can try! I don’t think it’ll sound like this but would probably sound half decent as a turbo diesel!
Unlike its 90 degree predecessor with problematic balance shafts the M276 is *not* a 6 cylinder variant of the 8 cylinder with two less cylinders, it's a bespoke 60 degree V6.
I definitely mis-stated this. From what I’ve read the 272 and 273 share similar engineering, much like the 276 and 278, correct?
My favorite Mercedes cars are w124 facelift and w212 pre facelift. You mentioned that you like the look of facelift… I personally prefer your design better. Facelift looks somewhat woke to me. Boxy looks more boss. And interior, I like the pre facelift colors. I love that warm yellow hue in the car. I kinda dislike all those purple and pink weird colors. I guess I’m being a bit conservative but if I had to choose, I’d go for prefacelift model any day. I love cars that doesn’t look aerodynamic. I’m not into all that Tesla style curvy stuff. My favorite era of cars are the eighties and nineties and I think your car is a great modern vehicle that blends these fancy days with the modern times. One of the best looking cars in my opinion. I might like it even better than facelift w124 e500 which is a wild looking car with nice wheels and spacers. Or let’s say… they are equal. Other e class generations are quite random in my opinion. The 2005 year e class was somewhat cool though. Even though not compared to w124 and w212.
I completely agree. 124 and early 212 are my absolute favorite. Facelift 212 is def more modern and athletic but as I mention - looses its identity. Completely agree!
2011 E550 104k reliable? Lost a 08 g35 and I want to try something new I’m interested in the e350 but the e550 is kinda calling my name
2011 with the 5.5 is a great engine. These cars are overall very reliable it really comes down to your engine choice. The 5.5 is a great engine. Be prepared to spend ti maintain
@@mrapter7im getting a 550 5.5 what should i do to it first ? trying to reach 500hp
@pesomonstar you can’t lol. The only thing you can do for these engines performance wise is a tune for about a 20hp gain, maybe some downpipes for another handful. Like the most you’re stretching the 382hp to is like 420ish max on an ethanol blend. If you wanted tuneability and potential, you should have bought a boosted motor. Unlike the LS or American V8s, there’s no real path here unless you wanna dump 30k into building one which makes 0 sense because just buy an m156 as that has a huge aftermarket, but still limited in what else can be pushed out.
@@mrapter7 could i engine swap it
Best engine and easiest to do as it’s done constantly is the m113k from the e55 w211. I think you can build it to have 4matic as well if you want. That’s a supercharged v8. Most reliable engine they’ve made in a long time. 250k miles +++
does this work on 2011
Yes! First step is to Grab the Open Port in the link of the linked video to this short
What rims are those?
Aodhan AFF7 staggered
i currently have a 2015 Lexus GS350 F-Sport that i just bought at 80k miles for reliability. it’s awesome, but driving could be a bit better. Thinking might trade in for a 14-16 E350 down the line
If you have a GS350 - I don’t know I would really make the jump. They are super cool looking cars and I love them. But the potential issues go up with the m276 vs the basically none for that Camry based engine. If you are, maybe look for an e400 or CLS400 both basically the same car with different body and interior. Same frames and drivetrain. M276 twin turbo - maintenance and upkeep worth it due to the potential power with a slight tune. Fairly reliable as most inherent issues are taken care of by 2016. So ideally, jump to a 2016 as it has the revised m276 in the e350 and in the TTm276 in the 400 series. An email puts you at 500hp and over 525lb ft
@@mrapter7 i kinda wanted to go the NA E350 for reliability. as NA will always be more reliable than turbo. but like you said i’m debating keeping the GS350, as i really do like it and no matter what the maintenance would be cheaper than the merc. if i did get an e350 it would be ‘16. Just for apple carplay alone and the lane keep. Want panoramic sunroof too
Yeah if you’re getting an m276 the 16 will have basically all the major issues fixed and you should be worry free as long as you stick to the book maintenance. They’re great cars, built well. There are two schools of thought: Japanese generally build cars despite maintenance and you can really skip a lot and still have a reliable car The Germans build some of the best driving cars in the world, but they lean so heavily on doing the big and small maintenance. Trans service and mounts, flex discs in the driveline, and of course your normal engine maintenance. Just little things can lead to a really bad experience when added up all at once. I’m a hypochondriac with my car. I think it helps
I have 2013 E350 4matic. I don't think I have twin turbo in my engine. Are you sure you have twin turbo in there my boy ?
You do realize you’re talking about a 350 vs a 550
@@mrapter7 So yours is 550 ?...never heard you saying that ? My is 350 and I do not have turbo engine .
@1978MODO yep it’s all over the channel and on the back of the car!
2012 e550 4 matic reliable? 134k miles for 5k on market rn
Absolutely not. Get the older 2011 or nothing at all
@@mrapter7 how about a 2012 e350?
@@mrapter7 man I just seen a 2011 like you said but it has 167k miles for 5k :(
@yoknowkyoknow9935 I’d take a m273 with 160k over a m278 with 100k
@@mrapter7 is it worth buying with 167k miles for 5k? No check engine just a sensor code for be on coil overs? In market that’s why and these e550 v8 sound beautiful or is that much miles over kill
Confused... does his 550 have conventional springs & not AirMatic?
Yes it does
@@mrapter7 thanks, was that an option or did e550's come standard w conventional springs?
Airmatic is always an option on these
@@mrapter7 starting in 2012 I believe... They appear to be standard on E500s & E550s up until 2011. It's important to me bc I don't want air suspension.
Ordering from the factory you can choose airmatic vs standard suspension AFAIK. It may be not standard and uncommon but so was it to find it in a 2013. You definitely want the air suspension over getting the m278, trust me. If you had to pick one evil, pick air suspension. You can always convert later.
What's the difference of a normal gear stick and the electric gear near the steering wheel?
It’s sort of correlated with the upgrade from 5g to 7g and 7g+ transmissions but isn’t the only reason. It was really a broader design shift for more interior space and ergonomic choices
@mrapter7 okay, having more gears translates to better fuel economy?
Generally? Yes
Yes! More w212 content 👏🏼👏🏼
Isn’t this a w206??
Yeahhhh it is haha. I meant 5th generation which is 206 but clearly got confused haha Good news is my points stand for both chassis
Hi Luke. Great video ! Do you know if the passenger seat occupancy sensor fault can be cleared with this setup ?
