Song: Rusting Lifts and Old Wood Shacks
Переглядів 442 місяці тому
"Rusting Lifts and Old Wood Shacks" is a nostalgic, bittersweet song that captures the fading memories of once-beloved ski areas now lost to time. With wistful lyrics and a haunting melody, the song takes listeners on a journey through foggy mornings and empty trails, where rusting lifts stand as quiet reminders of past winters. It speaks to the ache of seeing a favorite ski area closed, its sn...

First Snow
Переглядів 282 місяці тому
Stunning footage set to an evocative poem about the first snowfall of the season. Whispers of winter dance through the air, A blanket of white, soft as a prayer. The world wraps in silence, each breath feels light, Under the hush, everything’s bathed in white. Oh, the first snowfall, a magical sight, Twinkling like stars in the soft, gentle light. I wander through powder, my heart skips a beat,...
Thanks I needed that
72 year old boarder. I live 20 minutes from the Mount Shasta park, so I go up for an 8 run workout mid week. I arrive at noon when there's a parking spot below the first lift that an early bird has vacated. Plus they only charge $199 for a season pass at my age. Always so beautiful up there, and lots of people having fun.
@@rodkoehler Sounds like you got a great system there!!!
nice vid, what camera you rockin?
@@trapskilla Insta360 X4 and my phone.
Thank you for making this!!
I'm 72 years old & ski a bit & enjoyed your video. Thanks.
@lennymo9088 Glad you enjoyed the video Lenny.
One of my favorite places. Simple but feels classic. And it holds a special place in my heart since I tried my first black there. Interestingly, when it gets busy, it's almost entirely skiers - very few snowboarders. Often lots of racers on the face too. Word of warning though for busy days. Not many tables inside the lodge, so get to lunch early if you want a chance to sit down inside.
@@joed9305 I can understand why it means so much to you. I'm looking forward to going back another day. Nice to read your thoughts.
Nice video
@@christopherlgroves Thanks. I'm looking forward to going back to Saskadena.
Pat's Peak is a very nice place. Not a very challenging mountain, even for a newbie like me, but the overall feel of the place is really pleasant. Likely it wasn't open when you visited, but I especially enjoy the Cascade Basin in the back. Thanks for the video!
@@joed9305 You're right, Cascade wasn't open. I'll need to return later in the season. Thanks for commenting.
Just came across your video. You are right, skiing used to be my happy place! I grew up in Cornwall, CT right next to Mohawk! I learned to ski through our PE program at school! I haven’t skied in 20 years, I should try it again, although I’m a senior now and it would be tough. Thanks for sharing your insights!
@miriammigliacci9427 Mohawk was the first area I ever skied at. It holds a very special place in my memories. In my Playlist titled Indy Pass you'll find a video about Mohawk.
Who sings that song?
It sounds like AI generated
@@mbtravel7294 It's an AI song I created
@@crypto_keegs6795 You're right.
Curious what cameras you use... I would guess a 360 camera and perhaps a dSLR for stationary clips.

This is a fantastic video... you deserve WAY more views :-)
Great video and love the commentary! Gained a new subscriber here. Can't wait to get to Okemo beginning of February!
@crypto_keegs6795 Thanks for the comment and for subscribing. Hope you have an epic week when you go to Okemo.
Thanks for the video. It’s always fun to back it up and say “Hey, that’s me @ Stratton !” Beautiful day, and week for that matter.👍
@@chasboland Glad you enjoyed it. Have a good season.
Thanks for the vid. Good words and good snow.
@@choski76 Thanks for the kind words. Have a good s,i season.
Riding the lifts on the North Face is agonizing. Very slow!
Real date instead of "Day #" for you would be more informational for us viewers :)
Which skis are you on?
Head Supershape Rally. Supershapes are my favorite skis. I currently also have Titans and Magnums in my quiver...all are excellent carvers.
Awesome, awesome video!! Love the diary cam segments!
THANKS. At this very moment I'm working on a similar project.
Learned how to snowboard at Mt Snow a little over a decade ago, glad to see VT getting good snowfall this season
Mount Snow is one of my favorite resorts. Thanks for your comment.
3:05 "It's amazing how much skiing sheds depression and anxiety. . ." So true, and I can relate my friend. It's such a food for the soul. When your focus is just yourself, the nature around you, and the chill in the air. I always feel so good mentally after a ski day, regardless of conditions. Thank you for sharing, and I hope a lot more folks could experience this sanctuary that we do.
@@helconm We definitely see eye to eye! Thanks for the comment. Have a great season.
Being from the ever drier Europe I (aged 68) very much envy your snow conditions 🙂
@tamastoth1014gy I'm also 68 and I've witnessed a significant change in our winters. For example, lakes that used to remain frozen much of the winter often don't freeze over at all now.
What a treat! Thanks.
@patgottshalk8808 It was great fun to make a movie to resemble those of my youth.
Going for 5 days with friends the last week of February. Hoping for great conditions!
@@Pyroscheme7-4 I hope you have a great time!
This is awesome! I've never heard so many ski songs! ⛷️🎵🎶
@billpeck6263 Thanks for the kind words Bill.
How is the week between Christmas and New Year's? Crowded as hell or OK?
@@mazzetti8667 Very busy!
👍👍👍👍👍 Para siempre jóvenes.!!!!
Great video with good information. I usually ski Okemo but hit up Mt. Snow early and late season.
Thanks for the comment. I ski a lot at both Okemo and Mount Snow... I love both and need variety.
Killington opens before Mount Snow. Killington, Sugarbush, Jay Peak close after Mount Snow does.
All of which are 1 hour north or more....

Love this! I can’t find enough music or stories of Ullr to satiate my fascination of him. Thanks for making this, it is perfect.
My wife is Finnish and I'm a skier so I'm also fascinated with Ullr....I'm always asking for more snow.
Love it! I need to try it on my snowboard once before I hit 80.
Go for it!
Crazy people! No end to ways to play!😂
@maryegailharrison664 No way I was doing that.
Mount Snow Skier from 1979-2004. Winter 2003-2004 was the last time I skied there. I live in California now, and have Skied/Boarded mainly in Lake Tahoe since 2004-2005. I will ALWAYS ❣️ Vermont though. 👍
While skiing in VT can't compete with Tahoe I share your love for VT. My daughter just bought a home there so it looks like I'll be skiing VT for years to come.
That Top Flight lift needs to be replaced with a detachable quad. I understand that would be expensive, but it would make the experience more fulfilling.
Very nice video and wonderfully upbeat. And something that's more present for me, as I just picked up skiing a couple years back. So those memories you've related are my near past. I wish I heard this when I started. :) I ran into you after the ski season ended and you passed along your channel. Thanks for letting me know.
We met at Ron A Roll. Sorry to me so slow to respond. Glad you like the video. Enjoy all those Indy Pass mountains next season. I know I will. BTW give Waterville another chance. I've always had a good time there. Hope to see you skating again.
Love it!!
Thank you!!
Nice!
Totally agree, Don. Berkshire East is great, especially for how close it is to many in Mass, NY, and CT.
So beautiful honey! I'm glad you gave it your voice!
What a great video. You've really captured the beauty, fun, and exhilaration of skiing!
Wonderful! Makes me want to head for the mountain.
Love the Electric effect!

I'm 70 but ride skis. I ride too hard sometimes. Just don't wanna end up a pile o bones at the bottom of the mountain ! Sheeeeesh.
I'm 67 and hope to ski many more years. I also ski hard BUT nothing too risky.

Boring video, obnoxious music. Is there more to this mountain other than the bunny hill?
