A collection of Royal Trux visual ephemera, mostly concert footage and the like.
Royal Trux - Downtown Performance Center, Tucson, AZ, 01-18-94
Royal Trux live at DPC. Tucson, AZ, January 18th 1994.
This is one of the most interesting videos around, as it shows the relatively brief period where the band revisited the duo+backing tracks method that they had last done in 1990 for the Twin Infinitives tour. This time they prepared more elaborate backing tracks, and Neil played violin a few songs which gave them an even stranger edge than usual. After a few more shows like this, the pair picked up the members who made up the Thank You-era band (Chris Pyle, Dan Brown and Robbie Armstrong), signed with Virgin and maintained various full-band type lineups for the remainder of their career.
The show itself is enjoyable but pretty ramshackle - there's a lot of issue with the monitors and equipment problems, culminating in their drum machine and backing tracks breaking down, after which the pair play the last few songs with just guitar and vocals.
Lineup:
Neil Hagerty - vocals, guitar, violin
Jennifer Herrema - vocals
Setlist:
Teeth
Hallucination (Neil on violin)
Cleveland
Mercury
Shockwave Rider
Spike Cyclone
Aviator Blues
Up The Sleeve
No Fixed Address (Neil on violin)
Signed, Confused
The Spectre
Sometimes
Strawberry Soda

Mid 90s wonderfulness - the post Nirvana signing spree threw up some wonderfully mad gems - no one knew what the heck was going on - anything could happen - anyone could get signed to a major label - experimentation was rife - boundaries were not recognised....magick was made - so what went wrong...?! Rap Metal - Nu Metal happened...that's what - the fecking idiot frat boy jock rock mainstream and the pop punk bores took over.. Green Day and RHCP. Korn & Limpy Biscuits.. we all suffered for it.
what do you mean? Korn is great
Gonna have to agree with you
This is a rare treat!!
This version of Yellow Kid fucking rocks!!
I would've been in kindergarten when this set happened
90s VHS music promotion tapes are wild
this is like a western
Cool footage, I approve.
Thanks for posting this. Neil Hagerty still rules.
The opening song sounds a little bit like Can. I guess it’s a Richie Havens song? Also, who’s the rhythm section in this band?
Does anyone know the name of that song at 7:53?
royal trux are so likeable
What do you expect coming from a band like Pussy Galore?!!
This reminded me... Heroin was really really good in the 90s....
It's still cool just society got square
Lol! Well I've been out of the game for 20+ years so all my info is second hand but from what I hear it's all fentanyl these days, which sounds like none of the good only the bad... I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.
Heroin is a thing of the past in the USA. Who’d of ever imagined that happening ?
It's all about the money, fuk the addict... Wall street rules! Most of the current ills of drugs could be solved by legalization across the board... Sure, that would create other problems but prohibition doesn't work.
No, thank you, Royal Trux.
Hero/Zero are you the person who ran the website RTX-USA that had all these videos and audio recordings? I loved that site.
I am not, though I also used to look at that site a lot. I picked up these recordings from 90s era trader a few years ago.
@@herozero6476 Gotcha. That was an amazing site! I got a ton of live show audio recordings from there, which are amazing.
@@politicalconventions2543any idea how to listen to those? Been really into their live recordings lately and YT is just the surface
@@Al_Dee What trader did you pick these recordings up from? What is YT? The live recordings were just sent to me on a data disc and I uploaded them to my computer.
immense gratitude for posting this! :) was @ this show. also on the bill were a great Pgh band called The Johnsons & Chicago's Bobby Conn, touring on his 'Rise Up' album. Weasel Walter was in his band 4 that tour. great set! i remember RT were like 2 hours late for this. haha! busines as usual. miss this venue so much.
Great show, great night. Bonus points for Johnsons content.
@@teedigits1974 @ least ONE of their singers was pretty cool. ;)
why is neil missing a tooth?
JJ knocked him out.....most likely.

Interesting film .cool atmosphere...
4:22 had me thinking of the Walking Dude from Chicago. (See The Walking Dude -- A Dudeamentary)
They were great on this tour. I saw them in Columbus Ohio probably the night before or the night after this show. They were touring with US Maple who were really out of sight too.
Lol, Neil shouting out the Turner Diaries is a nice touch.
cool drugs, will take some too..Or maybe detox like they are doing, in the country...nice :)
this album is an absolute masterpiece. from start to finish... attitude perfection. if you disagree, go learn your rock history. one day you will understand.
You think it’s their best album?
@@bird7935 The one after it is!
@@mpavilion3092 sweet sixteen? I’ve only heard a couple songs from that one but it’s very interesting. I didn’t think much of cats and dogs when I first heard it but now it’s probably my favorite. Accelerator is sick too
@@bird7935 Yeah, they’re all pretty great! Accelerator is indeed sick.
"If you don't like this album go do homework" The vibe went over your head bro
