you live or die by lenses not cameras, pentax is dead...it refuses to build the lenses that would justify buying a 2 grand camera and refuses to make any new cheap cameras that might justify a lens line up that stops at a 450mm zoom. no one believe's there a Pentax k1 mk 3 coming anyway, theyve waited the best part of a decade for something you could call genuinely new as the rest of the camera industry raced ahead. its like what happened to Pentacon/praktica when it stopped making the carl zeiss optics like the 20 mm flektagon or 80mm pancolor... it rebranded products and then went out of buisness...like pentax is doing......we've all seen the death spiral before, tech largely gets repeated and rebranded rather than innovated and falls behind, a company doesnt manage the transition to AF or to mirrorless etc etc, the good glass gets dropped for affordable glass...which makes owning their cameras less desirable or practical and drives more people away. which means longer gaps to renew designs and have very little improvments....that drives people away it gets more expensive to produce or sell than what it is and so the spiral goes round and round until theres nothing left.... the undenyable thing that says pentax is dead is it has reduced it r&d department to almost nothing to stay in the black, a company that can only rebrand as it has and cant renew its self through fresh innovation has already booked its own funeral

The Pentax seems exciting. It was an iconoclastic model as the mk1 and mk2. Which majored on its abilities in the field. Making it faster and more capable with even higher image resolution makes it a good proposition. The price reflects it’s slightly niche status and more expensive form-factor. Pentax excels in image quality, ergonomics and build quality and may now add video capability. Let’s see!
